A Taste of Fall Around the House

Hello, dear friends.  TGIF!  The meteorologists tell us that Joaquin may head out to sea after leaving the Bahamas and totally miss landfall.  Whoohoo!  It is cold, wet and very windy here this morning.  Before all my Fall decorations got blown away, I decided to take some pictures this week.  When it comes to decorating for Fall, I consider myself lazy a minimalist.

My motto is... where ever there is an open space - stick in an orange mini pumpkin.

My favorite pumpkins, though, are the white ones.

I hold on to my hydrangeas for as long as I can!

A dash of color in the kitchen.

Photo bomb!!

Mini photo bomb.

By the look on his face, I guess this guy doesn't dig mums.

Have a great weekend!

Until next time...

  1. Your home is so lovely!! I never get tired of a good, boxwood wreath. And I think the guy in the painting rather likes the mums--looks like he's smiling in spite of himself.

  6. MOVE OVER MARTHA....there's a new kid in town, whoa! This is fit for a magazine spread and you put me to shame, all I have resembling fall are a box of mini white ghourds that are still in my garage, pathetic I know. I LOVE your flowerboxes and all the fabulous flowers everywhere and of course seeing my products in your home is always the icing on the cake for me...FABULOUS!

  7. You have one of my favorite houses I've ever seen. Love the restrained fall touches and the fact you haven't slathered the place with spiderwebs and fake hatchets in bloody pumpkin heads. Little pops of pumpkins are the way to go!

Hope the storm stays far away!

  15. Embrace the minimalist in you because all of it looks great. If you want to talk lazy, see my pink geraniums out in front my house. I am hoping with the first frost the geraniums will appear more like I am trying to decorate a haunted house. Love the photo bombs.

  16. Pretty pretty pretty! I noticed the bloggers who live in the South and drink a lot of sweet tea and are actually super sweet ladies really embrace fall decorating. Probably because it is not a sign of eventual snow and ice for them as it is for us. We have your rain today (wet dog!) and I'm glad the storm will pass you by.

  18. Katie,
Everything looks beautiful! I love the white pumpkins, too. Stay safe in the weather! I just realized Jim Cantore from the Weather Channel is broadcasting within walking distance of my house--not a good sign!

  19. Looks so pretty! We're having a ridiculous amount of rain, plus apartment living is not inspiring me to decorate : ) Hubs and I saw The Martian yesterday..loved it! Matt Damon is really good and exactly what I pictured when I read the book.

  24. Kind of off topic, but just saw your latest instagram photo; loved the way you tied your scarf. Could you do a scarf tutorial showing the steps to that particular style you are wearing in photo? Sherri

    1. Hi MFC... We think that is a Maltipoo but no one is sure. She and her brother were found roaming the street of Houston over a year ago. I found her on Pet Finder and she was a rescue at a wonderful agency. Enjoy your sweet little dog!
