A Cup of Joe & The Name Game

Hello, dear friends.  I hope you are having a good week.  The weather has been crisp but gorgeous around here.

Today, I am linking up with my friend Terri who writes the questions and bloggers answer them.  Did you know that it is National Joe/Jo Day?  In celebration, Terri wrote her questions about this new-to-me holiday.

1.  Who is your favorite "Joe/Jo" and what can you tell us about him or her?

Our #1 Jo happens to be our favorite puppy/house sitter and buddy of mine who gives me peace of mind when we travel.

If you couldn't tell from the pic, Chowdah has a major crush on her.

Next in line are all my Joes from Jersey.

And last, but certainly not least is my favorite cup of Joe every morning.

2.  Who were you named for and do you or did you know that person?

My first name came from a book just like this one.

3.  Do you have a middle name and do you like it/use it?

My middle name is my Mother's name, Mary.

Sista's first name is Mary.
Sista goes by her middle name, though, which is Stinker.
I may or may not have made that part up.

4.  Have you ever named your car?  Tell us about it, please!

My girls went to an all-girls Catholic high school about an hour away from our home.  I drove them to and from school until #1 got her license.  We bought this car because it had a very high safety rating.

Our car had a hard life. The guy at our body shop spent more time with our car than with his own family.

We ran it into the ground and it was barely recognizable by the time we turned her in.

Most importantly, she kept us safe.

Btw, I named her after my idol, Oprah.

5.  Tell us the name of a fictional character you have never forgotten and why you remember it so well.

I love Anne of Green Gables.
I have watched the Netflix show more times than I care to admit.

6.  Share something random with us about your week.

We're not going to see much of our kitchen for several days because we are having our hardwood floors refinished due to wear and tear from doggie nails.  Chow is going off to camp for a few days and Chili will be my shadow.  She will be sleeping with us which will probably be an absolute nightmare.

Things are going be crazy around here so there's a good chance that you won't hear from me until next week.

Knowing Chili, she will talk me into flying to Vegas for the weekend.

Until next time...

Chili feeling pretty in her new preppy pink sweater.
Notice those pretty floor etchings ala Chili.

The Friday Files

Hello, dear friends.  It is a rainy day here on the South Shore of Massachusetts.  I've got two sleepy dogs that refuse to get up and go out.

The Mister took the day off.  I have a feeling that we will be giving Netflix a lot of our attention.

Here are a few things that have caught my eye this week.

Take a tour of this beautiful home owned by designer Danielle Rollins home in Atlanta.

This photographer's Long Island Retreat makes my heart go pitter-patter.

No blogs today, just a youtube star.  Whenever I am procrastinating about tackling a boring task, I skip over to youtube and watch one of Dominique Sachse's videos.  I then head to Ulta and buy everything that Dominque is using with the hopes of looking like her.  Unfortunately, my hopes and wishes are in vain.

If you want to look ten years younger tune in here.

Has your dog's personality changed?  I know of one pooch that has gone from crackers to downright cuckoo for cocoa puffs.  (Mrs. B saying).   Here's an article about how a dog's personality can change over time.

And we thought her brother was the nutcase!

A reader emailed me to ask me if I had any ideas on what to get her niece who just bought her first house.  I recommended this dynamic duo.  I would love to hear your suggestions.

Btw... have you heard of the Datacolor Color Reader?  If you have anxiety about choosing paint colors like me, this little attachment and app are made for you.  It should save you some bucks too.

How It Works

Find the perfect color in just 3 Steps:
Step 1 – Place the ColorReader lens against surface
Step 2 - Press the “Read” button in the mobile app to measure a color
Step 3 – Check the app for the top 3 paint color matches including paint name and number

Here's an article about ten things no one tells the Mother of the Bride.

I've been doing a lot of research lately.  One of the things I read on one site advised the MOB to go light on the chardonnay.

Needless to say, I skipped the rest of the advice.

Redbubble

I finally got a phone case for my new phone.  I ordered it from Redbubble and got it in three days.

Would you like to learn a new language for free?
There's an app for that.

I used to make the Mister call me every morning when he made it safely to work.

Now, I just check this app on my phone.

The Mister and I just finished watching two seasons of Striking Out, an Irish legal drama.  We both enjoyed it.

I want one of these for my birthday.
