A Few of My Favorite Things

Hello, dear friends.  Happy St. Paddy's Day!
I hope that you are having a good weekend.  We are experiencing gorgeous, but chilly weather which always puts me in a good mood.  Believe me, the Mister prays for sunny skies.

I am also having a good hair day.  I had been hearing a lot of hype from bloggers about a new product that Revlon just released - a roller brush and hair dryer wrapped into one.  I am a sucker for a new beauty gadget, so I ordered it last week.

Amazon

After I ordered it, I was a little worried that my hair was too short to use it.
It turns out my hair was plenty long enough, and I must say I really liked it.  It gave my hair volume and left it without frizz.

Although the brush is fairly big, it is a lot lighter than my old hairdryer.  It is also easy to maneuver.
This one is a keeper.

The hairdryer comes in two styles of brushes - a roller brush and a flat brush.

Amazon

My old routine called for me to dry my hair and then use the Simply Straight brush.  It did a good job, but it took twice as long.

I've been using It's a 10 leave-in treatment for about a year now.  This stuff protects the hair from heat, hydrates, detangles, defrizzes, gives the hair great shine and is a fabulous floor wax.  OK, I may have lied about the last part.

I got turned on to this Living Proof de-frizzer by a friend.  I always spray a little of this on my hair before I go out and it does the trick.

Mark & Graham

My #2 gave me this 2-in-1 cosmetic case for Christmas.  I can't believe how much I can get into it.  It's on special now, if you are in the market for one.

QVC

I've ordered a few items from my new favorite site, QVC.  They seem to have the best deals when it comes to cosmetics.  This neck cream is so rich and smells heavenly.  Love the applicator, too. I don't watch the network, but I signed up to be on a mailing list for all their specials.  Don't tell the Mister.

QVC

The eye cream is also very rich and I love the applicator.

Ulta

Today is day 1 or Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty!
I ordered this lash primer at half price.

I was catching up with an old friend who loves to read.  She told me she got the greatest gift from her daughter for her birthday and I thought it was a clever idea.  It was a journal to record the books she has read and a stamp for her books because she lends a lot of them to friends.
She has the same problem as me - she can't remember what books she has already read.  I always have to refer to my blog.

I just finished listening to this chilling thriller.
It's got a great twist and is not for the faint of heart.

Amazon

I'm almost finished with this fabulous page-turner which takes place at the Hotel del Coronado.

Amazon

I'm listening to this wonderful novel which takes place at another beautiful hotel - The Ritz Paris.

I highly recommend both books.

Talbots

Talbots has a 30% off sale going on.
I stopped in yesterday and bought these high waisted jeggings.
They have plenty of stretch and are very comfy.
Great news: I went down a size!
Bad news:  I'm not sure that I can breathe or sit down.

Until next time...

I'm Katie. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am an empty nester meandering through my middle-aged years while entangled in the never-ending process of renovating an antique home on the South Shore of Massachusetts. I love to write about books, movies, TV, celebrities, decorating, and weekend adventures. My favorite writing material is derived from my family: the Mister, my girls, #1 and #2, and my two untrainable, rambunctious pups, Chowdah and Chili.

  1. I am so glad to see the two pupsters celebrating the day and I can tell they are thrilled, too. Just jotted the books down. I have such good luck with It's A 10 products. Their hair "balm" (I think it is) is, hands down, the best hair restorer I have ever used.
    Have a wonderful Sunday-xo Diana

  2. Happy St Paddys Day from Alabama where the sun is shining the temps are lovely. After all our rain this is wonderful. I always enjoy reading your suggestions Katie. Unfortunately I do watch QVC and they tempt me all the time. I say I am putting it on to just have some background noise but then Isaac Mizrahi fashions or Dooney and Bourke comes on and I am a sucker for a good sales pitch!! Have a great week.

  4. I have a Conair Spinbrush, which I love. It is not a dryer, hair has to be damp only, but it is much easier than the big round brush and blow dryer process and results are almost as good.

  5. I'm so glad to hear you liked Before She Knew Him. I've heard some mixed review, but I think I'll love it! Also happy that you like the dryer brush. It makes blow drying a breeze!

  7. You are the 2nd person I have seen to post about the round hairbrush! I have never been able to use a round brush. Not sure if it is because my hair is so thick and course or what. With it being so short you would think it would be a piece of cake. I may just need to try this though. Thanks for the tips on your favorite things. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  9. Glad to see your review on the hair brush dryer. I have had it in my cart for a bit, thinking I need to give it a try. Thanks too for more book suggestions. I've got a stack going. Just need some time to sit down and read without falling asleep! Happy Week Ahead!

  10. I have heard so much about the Revlon hair brush dryer, that I'm tempted to get one, even though I have a perfectly good dryer already. Everyone's review says it's wonderful and easy to use, and your may be the tipping point. Thanks for the great book suggestions as well. I like the book list journal you recommended.

  12. Oh my! It's my first time here and I am so glad I clicked over from the Hello, Monday linkup! I have been on the fence about that round brush hairdryer. Do you really love it? Is it really easier than maneuvering the round brush and dryer (I think anything would be easier than that mess)? It looks so great!

  15. Hi Katie:
Visiting from The Midlife Blogging Community. My Mr. isn't going to be happy that I'm following you and loving all your favorites, but it can be our little secret;). I just had to read the synopsis on Before She knew him because I couldn't remember if I read it. I didn't. I need one of the journal's your friend has. And that round brush sounds wonderful but I'm not sure it would work in long very thick hair. I'm just envisioning a ratted mess. hmmm Helpful tips!
