The Maine Event - Part 2

Hello dear friends.  Massachusetts is experiencing a gorgeous last weekend of summer.  I don't ever remember a summer as beautiful as this one.  I am so sorry to see it go.

This is Part 2 of my Maine trip with Kathy and Anne.  You can read Part 1 here.  On our way home from Maine, we made some fun stops.  The first one was in Thomaston.

I had heard about this showroom from the ladies the evening prior.  I must say that I have never had the privilege of visiting a show room of this kind before.

The Maine State Prison Showroom is very large and jam packed with beautiful woodworking.

The inmates are at command central of the store.

Perhaps a model for an escape plane?

A huge selection of carving boards.

Best seat in the house.

I wonder if she does any woodworking in her new home away from home.

As a side note, there is a fabulous antique shop next door.  If you are in the market for sterling silver pieces at a fair price, it is the place for you.

We then made a stop at Damariscotta Pottery.  Their inventory was low, but their remaining pieces were beautiful.  The artists work on site.  I'm definitely going back at the beginning of next season.

Also made a stop at this fruit stand.  Maine is famous for its miniature blueberries.

Kathy then took us to her favorite place for lobstah rolls.

The place is a hole in the wall but has the most delicious lobstah rolls I have ever tasted.  I didn't take a picture because I inhaled it before I reached for my camera.

Along with great food, the diners are treated to this view.

I told Anne to look like a hardened criminal in this one.

I don't think Anne could make it in the crime world.

Until next time...

  4. I just spent hours gazing upon the gorgeous photos of Damariscotta Pottery. After a few hours of sleep I'll have to check out the prison worker photos. Maine is full of fascinating spots for shopping!

  5. I had to pin that dog, he looks like ours and ours should be wearing that costume, not just on Halloween but full time! ;)

  6. Oh how fun! Loved the first Maine blurb and this one. You'll laugh when you hear that our previous dog - Oscar the golden retriever - was dispatched to a prison. For training. An inmate looked after him for three weeks and did a wonderful job. Oscar, sweet lad, was stubborner than stubborn. His was my 13th dog and the first I ever had to send away to be trained. This prison program was brilliant. Unfortunately they no longer have funding and it has shut down.
