A Nice Flea Market in Nice

Happy Monday, dear friends!  We've been experiencing a heat wave here in the Northeast, but it didn't stop us from having fun.  My #1 and Adorable Jonathon came for a visit and I took lots of pics.

Back to the cruise.  My past posts can be found here, here, and here.  We spent our 25th wedding  anniversary on the French Riviera in Nice and Monaco.  Today's post covers our morning in Nice. Both places exceeded my expectations.

We took a little boat into Nice.  The weather was warm and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

Hellooooo Apollo!  He was unveiled in 1956.  Originally, Apollo was a bit over endowed and after much squawking from the women villagers, was adjusted to feature smaller family jewels.  Apollo is known to have the nicest bum in Nice.

La Promenade du Paillon was constructed in honor of the Paillon River which still flows beneath it.  It is referred to as the mirror of water.  I could hang out here and people watch all day long.  Spectacular!

It was my lucky day!  We came across this flea market.  I could have spent the whole day and our life's savings here.

France's version of the American Girl doll?

Love this lady's hat.

Gorgeous linens.

A Nice selfie

Next stop... Monaco!

Until next time...

I came across this guy catching 40 winks at the flea market.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Feel free to contact me through comments and email. I love to hear from my readers!

  1. Beautiful! And this is the first time I've been the least bit interested in a cruise. Looks wonderful!

  2. I'm starting to think a cruise might be a great way to see Italy too!

  3. Love Nice! Did you hit the topless beach there? It does take a day to get used to lying on the hard, flat rocks with a straw mat though... a distant memory pour moi.
    Have a great week.

    1. We did go to the nude beach, but I got kicked off because of lack of equipment.

  4. Oh my stars! What a beautiful place! I would have bought the fish dishes in a heartbeat! So pretty!

The story about the Apollo statue cracks me up. Why does the government always have to go and ruin a good thing?

  5. The fish china would have been mine! What fun to see all -- you do stuff I want to do all the time. Totally jealous!

  6. The dolls are pretty scary looking! Haha! Such beautiful pictures, Happy 25th Anniversary!!

  7. Nice!!! .....get it? hahahahaha!!
Seriously? I want that dish with the bunny on it and rimmed in blue so badly.....that would have been in my carry on. And the silverware?? Oh my..........And Apollo?? Oh very my!!!!!!

  8. So I shopped the pictures and bought lots of silver, the fish plates and a bureau and a coffee table. All are happily on Elm St and look wonderful!

  9. What an amazing place. I want to shop that flea market so badly. xo Laura

  10. What treasures at the flea market Katie! I love your story about Apollo ( I would have left him over endowed!) Ha!

  11. The Christophe silver has my name on it! I love Nice and Monacco. As a twenty something college kid in jeans we entered the casino...and wondered how far we would be able to get. We made it to the second floor and the last set of doors...then we were told "non." Ha! Provence is my favorite place! If I could go off the grid, it would be there.
You have wonderful anniversary memories...and phots !

  12. Just catching up on reading! What a lovely trip and how perfect for there to be a flea market set up for you! Such a cute pup too...

  13. Ouch! Poor Apollo! I can only imagine that all men wince a bit when they hear that story! I love the linens but those dolls look creepy! What a wonderful trip and a wonderful anniversary celebration!

  14. Hi Katie my dear,
I am so loving the pictures and story of your beautiful holiday. Im a little late,as I have been away myself, I will look at your photos and earlier posts again.
Nice is my part of France, we fly there to go to Italy. I know it quite well and the markets are wonderful. Perfect for super amounts of browsing in the sunshine. I hope you bought lots of goodies!
Im looking forward to your post on Monaco, but Im sad that I did not see you my dear.

Your weekend snaps of your family and lovely doggies are as adorable as can be. You always make me happy when I stop by,
    Much love to you

  15. What a great looking trip! Those French Flea markets are full of fabulous treasures. I don't think the French ever throw things out. They just save, recycle and resell them! Thanks for sharing with us on #stylefocus
