Hello, I'm Katie
I'm Katie. Welcome to my blog. I am an empty nester meandering through my midlife years one page at a time. We sold our antique home on the South Shore of Massachusetts in October 2020 and relocated to the Dallas suburbs and our forever home.
I love to write about books, movies, TV, celebrities, shopping, decorating, Bravo, and weekend adventures. My favorite writing material, however, is derived from my family: the Mister, my girls, #1 and #2, my favorite son-in-law, and my new little mischief-maker, thoroughly darling Millie. I love hearing from my wonderful readers.

Having been there I second every single opinion stated here.....that one bedroom with the creepy things on the wall I so did not get nor that pink room that was over the top pink, couldn't they have opted for a softer pink!!!! Overall there were nice spaces but a lot of it just felt too overdone in terms of trying to make some kind of statement. Always fun to see what you are up to...enjoy your Sunday afternoon.
ReplyDeleteOk, I hope I don't offend anyone out there but the whole time I was looking at this house I was thinking "what the what"???? Do you think it was done as a joke? Surely no one would take this place seriously?!
ReplyDeleteMoving on....I LOVED you said your teeth itched...that's one of my favorite sayings! It confirmed to me that we must be sistas fo real!
I am guessing that the show house designers wanted the patrons to get their money's worth, so they gave them (1) plenty of accessories to look at and (2) a few unforgettable rooms. From your post, I would say "mission accomplished." Thanks for sharing your adventure with us homebodies.
ReplyDeleteI loved part I - part II, not so much! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWOW! I agree with you. I liked what you liked, and did not like the 'rogue' bedroom. I wonder if those creepy things on the wall are air plants. They go along with the succulent framed art. I guess beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home in a beautiful location but the interior design is sorely lacking in good taste and a bit of restraint so important to good design. This designer appears to be in love with the concept of grouping things on the wall and covering every single space or surface with something. Oh well...if all our homes were the same what a boring interior design world it would be! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow there was a lot going on there for sure! Totally agree with all of your assessments and tell Chili to run from the pink paint!
ReplyDeletehmmmmmm......I feel a bit dizzy. So. Much. Stuff.
ReplyDeleteJust my little opinion, Katie, but they simply got this all wrong! Too much...too much...it was all lost in translation....too bad!
ReplyDeleteI always love a home tour and you do such a great job, Katie. I agree--too much pink and too much spidery plant does the wall....wowza. It's still fun to see. Thanks for sharing this little piece of the East Coast.

Hmmm not sure how I feel about the show house this year.. too much a good thing may be too much LOL! xo K
ReplyDeleteThose fuzzy things hanging on the wall reminded me of the "decorating" show Trading Spaces when Hildy glues straw to some poor homeowners' walls. Definitely jumped the shark!
ReplyDeleteThe fuzzy things on the wall probably a reminiscent of a feathered bait for fishing.
