Hello, I'm Katie
I'm Katie. Welcome to my blog. I am an empty nester meandering through my midlife years one page at a time. We sold our antique home on the South Shore of Massachusetts in October 2020 and relocated to the Dallas suburbs and our forever home.
I love to write about books, movies, TV, celebrities, shopping, decorating, Bravo, and weekend adventures. My favorite writing material, however, is derived from my family: the Mister, my girls, #1 and #2, my favorite son-in-law, and my new little mischief-maker, thoroughly darling Millie. I love hearing from my wonderful readers.

She was a remarkable person, and I loved hearing her speak....I was very sorry to hear yesterday of her passing. A true icon whose beautiful words will always stay with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tribute to an amazing woman. May she rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteKatie, what a nice tribute to a very special woman. The quotes you chose are some of her best. My favorite, (I think she said this) which Oprah aways used, was, and I'm sure I'm paraphrasing......'You do the best you can and when you know better, you do better'. I use this one to forgive myself and others, when needed. What a wise women she was. I wish there were more like her. We need role models, even at our age!
ReplyDeleteWarmly, Kathleen
I love that one too, Kathleen. Sounds like you are a wise woman as well!
DeleteThanks for this tribute, Katie. My post today also is a tribute to Maya Angelou. The earth has lost a beautiful wise woman. Heaven has gained an amazing new angel. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tribute. She will be greatly missed!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I didn't agree with her politics, I really admired her for all her accomplishments. I often gave her books as gifts and everyone loved them. What a great lady, and what a gift she gave to the world! She will be missed.
ReplyDeleteAnd now that I think about it - what a good lesson I've learned . . . political decisions don't define us and don't have to keep us from being friends!
She was a beautiful soul and poet. SHe left her mark and will be remembered.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tribute for a talented lady…
ReplyDeleteKatie,
ReplyDeleteI have an intern working with me and I loved sharing about Maya's strengths and life. What a very lovely tribute.
She left such an impression on me with her way with words and standing up for civil causes.

Lovely tribute Katie. I felt the loss and her incredible inspiration. Just did a quick post on my way out to work the morning I heard. Thanks for sharing some of her most poignant words here.
