TGIF!  I hope that you had a good week.  The weather has been beautiful here in the great state of Texas. 

Today, we will add a few steps to our walk and vote.  We tried to fulfill our civic duty yesterday, but there was not a parking spot to be found.  So today we are going to beat the system and walk.  There is a first for everything.

Fall Decor & More

 

I hope you all had a good weekend.  I enjoyed a couple of catch-up lunches with friends, scratched a few errands off my list, got a little shopping in, and had a team-building lunch at Capital Grille with my staff, otherwise known as the Mister. 

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year, and I want to add some festive decor.  Over the weekend, I let my fingers scroll, and I'm taking you along with me.

Fall temps have finally hit Texas!  The cooler temps have given me a little more pep in my step on my morning walks.  I also find that I sleep better when it's chilly outside.

I am finished with all of my check-ups for 2024. Good news for me—no more pap smears! Now, my physical is reduced to drawing a clock and repeating three words they tell me to remember ten minutes later. 

I got a C-.

I hope you had a good weekend. I am very excited to introduce you to my guest of honor today. I have been following Whitney McNell on Instagram for several years. I love the way she uses color in her designs, as well as her talent for mixing patterns.

I hope you had a good week. If you have had to deal with Hurricane Milton's destruction, you have my sympathy.

Today, I am headed to the pickleball courts. I haven't played in months, and as always, the sport takes a backseat to catching up with my pickle buds.

The Mister was out of town, so I headed to Dallas to see my favorite grandchild and her parents.  Miss Lucy loves her Cowboy books!

First of all, I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to the people in Helene's path.  We've lived through a couple of hurricanes, and they have been pretty scary and devastating.  

This week I caught up with an old tennis buddy and also had lunch with two dear friends in the 'hood.  The Mister and I also popped down to Dallas to take our #2 out for her birthday.  We went to a new spot to us, Goodwins.  It had great food, superb service, and lousy parking.

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend.  We caught up on our sleep.  I whined to told the Mister that I was still battling jetlag, and he gave me an apathetic eye-roll. It's his love language.

Welcome back!  Are there any known cases of someone dying of jetlag?  It's been a few years since I experienced it. Like everything else in life, it worsens with age. 

 

Okay, I used up my quota for whining.  I've got to save some for the Mister.

If you missed my Instagram stories, we were enjoying gorgeous weather and magnificent food in the South of France.  A recap post is headed your way next week. I am happy to report that our vacation was smooth as silk, thanks to our friend and travel advisor extraordinaire, Sandy Grodsky. But more about that in next week's post.

Summer Reading

 

First of all, I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me back.  I answered almost everyone on the comment page.  I then realized that my own comments were coming up as Anonymous.  I brought in my top tech expert, the Mister, who saved the day.

I was originally going to post a Friday Files today, but so many of you asked for my book recommendations.   I did it quickly, so please forgive the more-than-usual typos.

I hope that you had a wonderful Summer. Any season where our family members are happy and healthy and still speaking to each other is always a good one in my eyes.

I hope that you had a good week. Mine began with my 38th Covid booster shot on Monday. Ok, it wasn't 38, but it felt like it. The worst part was I had a sore arm the next day so I couldn't play pickleball.

Note to self: my 39th booster goes into my left arm.

Summer Reading

 

I hope that you had a wonderful weekend.  Our Mother's Day celebration was one less this weekend because my #2 had a bear of a head cold.  However, we had one more honoree - it was my #1's first Mother's Day!

We had lunch at Fachini.  The Mister and I had never been there before. I give it 5-stars; the food and service were exemplary.

I hope that all is well in your world.  Our world revolves around our Wednesday lunches with Lucy and her Mama.  This week, we ventured out to The Rooftop Restaurant at RH Dallas.  We have been there several times and always enjoyed the food and excellent service.   Lucy has a way of making ordinary experiences that much more special.

Books & Birthdays

I hope that you all had a great weekend.  Ours was pretty soggy.  My birthday was on Friday, and the Mister took me to lunch at Capital Grille, one of my favorites.  I went out of my comfort zone and ordered the tenderloin sliders, which were to die for.
