Hello, dear friends. I hope that you are having a great weekend. We did our usual Winter thing yesterday - shopping, lunch, and a movie. More about that in this week's Friday Files.
As many of you know, when the Mister and I moved to the Northeast, it was the first time in about 15 years that we have been exposed to snow and bitter temps. Naturally, we had given away all of our winter equipment and accessories years before.
Before we knew it, we were stocking up on everything from shovels to snowblowers. I would have much rather put the moolah towards body glitter and fake tattoos - my two standard necessities for the warm weather.
This post is all about winter. I found some unique items available to aid in dealing with the snow and cold.
If you live in a warm climate and don't have to worry about the complexities of the Winter, I have two words for you: I'm jealous.
You will be the talk of the 'hood with this Snow Wolf. It looks kind of funny, but you'll get the last laugh while you are sitting fireside, hot cocoa in hand, watching your neighbors struggle with shovels after your driveway has been shoveled for hours. This one has got great reviews.
Here's a heated jacket to keep you warm while you're showing off in front of your neighbors with your new Snow Wolf.
This hand-held, battery operated spreader does the job with melt as well as seed. Great review and a good price. I think I would have a lot more fun spreading the seed than I would the melt.
There's nothing worse that sticking your warm foot into a cold, wet boot. Fear not, this boot dryer is here. Take my word for it, beats using a hair dryer any day.
A heated windshield ice scraper will be your life saver some day. Save those arm muscles for lifting a glass of wine and not scraping ice off of your windshield.
A 13-in-1 car emergency kit.
Note to self: buy 2 for the girls for Valentine's Day.
I'm sure they'll appreciate one of these a lot more than a Sephora gift certificate.
I can almost feel the eye-roll from Texas and NC right now.
A Heated Lotion Dispenser sounds like pure luxury on this cold winter morning.
You will be the envy of all your coworkers in the cafeteria when they see you plug this baby in and in a matter of minutes you are enjoying a nice warm meal. To add fuel to the fire - play soft music on your phone and eat by candlelight.
For the coworker who is always turning up the heat...
A hot looking space heater
This warming blanket/shawl should do the trick quieting that cranky coworker.
If that doesn't work, there is always a seat warmer.
Amazon
The finishing touch... a heated mouse.
This is the perfect gift for the person that will sacrifice warmth for a nice juicy steak.
The Mister loves these things. He keeps them in the car for the days that he takes the train.
This is a hand warmer that is rechargeable as well as temperature controlled.
Note to self: Valentine's Day gift for the Mister.
I swear by Zicam. The minute I feel that twitch in the back of my throat or nose that warns me of a cold coming on, I spray my throat and keep it up every few hours. If it doesn't completely get rid of the oncoming cold, it definitely lessens the severity of it.
Note to self: another Valentine's gift for the girls.
They are going to be thrilled.
Be a trend setter.
You'll thank me later.
Note to self: Valentine's gift for my girls.
I smell a Mother of the Year Award in the works.
Stay warm and enjoy your Sunday.
Until next time...
Iamsnuggie
Stay warm enjoy the game! Love your finds.
ReplyDeleteHello Katie, I am the one with the space heater at my feet, it got so cold one winter that I melted the pleather off the tip of my boot. Those are some great ideas! I wish they could bottle sunshine as we here in Missouri could use some!
ReplyDeleteHello Katie....Stay warm and cozy🤓
ReplyDeleteI'm trying, Debbie. Have a great week.
DeleteGirlfriend, if I were you I'd have two of each of those goodies! Hate the cold. And, I need to go get #2 some of that Zicam. The joys of working with little ones :-0
ReplyDeleteGreat and funny suggestions, love your Go Pats!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, I'm so glad we do not need any of the above mentioned items. Well, that was such a much cuter crockpot than the one I have that I might have to check that out. We are NOT cold weathered folks and if we had to endure it then we'd need all of these for sure! Cute post and yes, I can see a "Mother of the Year" award in your future!
ReplyDeleteOh boy am I happy I no longer live where I need any of those gadgets. However if it continues to rain cats and dogs (not complaining after 6 years of drought) we may need to build an ark.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine your girls rolling their pretty little eyes!! But I did like the knitted nose warmer!!
ReplyDeleteLove the nose mitten!
ReplyDeleteI know... I cracked up when I saw it. Have a great week.
DeleteGreat ideas and products! Unfortunately, we seem to be having ice instead of snow this year. Bring on a snow day! :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHello Katie! Warm greetings from Montreal, Canada! I love all the products you are mentioning in your post here! I am one of the few who actually loves the winter! LOL! As long as I don't have to deal with ice or extreme temperatures such as -30 or +30 celsius, I am fine. Our summers here in Montreal are extremely hot and humid and dangerous even, for those with no air conditioners. I am fortunate to have central heating and air conditioning. You have a lovely blog. :)
ReplyDeleteWe actually own three of those items....I will leave it up to you to guess which ones. That being said- you can rule out the nose-warmer and heated mouse. lol
ReplyDeleteYour girls are definitely, definitely, definitely (said as the Rainman) going to nominate you for the Mother of the Year. We will most likely 1st place and runner up (me)....xo Diana
Katie, I happened to show my husband the melt spreader and he shocked me by saying he was thinking of getting something like that. He knew there was a crank kind but loves the battery powered one you showed. So thank you! So far the winter in West Chester PA has been mild. I'm knocking on every piece of wood I can find!! Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteHi Susie! I have a good buddy that is now living in West Chester and she loves it. The Mister has the spreader that I showed and he loves it. I feel the same about our winter. I'm just afraid to see what is in store in February. Have a great week.
DeleteFortunately, Texans don't need much on this list. Time you two moved back to Texas. '-)
ReplyDeleteThankfully we don't get that cold here in Seattle! Hope some of those gadgets help you this winter.
ReplyDeleteI've actually never seen Zicam before. Maybe we don't have it up here in Canda. The only thing I know people use for sure is something like the heated jacket, but instead it is boots for construction workers who have to be out in winter weather. I would love that heated blanket (until I have a hot flash and then I would throw it across the room!) -Jenn
ReplyDeleteFortunately, we don't have long stretches of cold weather but, if we did, I would definitely be wearing that coat! I've never tried Zicam but now I may have to go buy some to have for "just in case". Hope you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie, Your suggestion to eat lunch with soft music and candlelight while at work made me laugh so hard! I am an RN and share the lounge with fellow nurses, surgeons, and anesthesiologists. I would surely be the talk of my workplace and they might even have me admitted for observation! Thanks for the huge laugh! Your suggestions are great, some of them I would actually use here in Dallas because I am a winter wimp!

Hi Sherry! My #1 has been telling me about the crisp temps in Big D. Thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog. Hope you have a wonderful week!
DeleteLove these products (and the puppy Golden!). Our old house has a one car garage so every winter morning I'd start the 3 kids' cars and scrape the snow and ice off for them (spoiled rotten kids). Now that they don't live here, they all received snow shovels this Christmas. My son loved it, the girls not-so-much. :)
ReplyDeleteThe Snow Wolf conceptually looks great but would be an accident waiting to happen in my Mister's hands! Our daughter lives near Yummy Mummy -- where things taste better than they look. And they look darn good! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteKatie,
ReplyDeleteThere are some cool things here and I live in SoCal. I would have done the same thing, toss what you don't use...then need to purchase it all over again when a move necessitates it! :-)
That Crock Pot is kinda cute.
xo,
Karen
I'm surprised "Yaktrax" didn't make your list. I rarely leave home with out them on my shoes.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, only 18 more weeks until Memorial Day!

Maureen... too funny! My #2 told me about them. She saw them in NC!! Have a great week.
DeleteHello dear Katie
ReplyDeleteMay I just say what a beautiful painting of your home as your new title, it makes my day to see such your picture perfect pretty house complete with the sweet doggies and all your flowers, I have only just seen it today.
I am not at all keen on winter, here in teeny-tiny uk it is winter all over for at least 4months ... the only thing that is good about it is the full cover fashion ( by that I mean cover all love handles ) For me, a cape poncho trimmed with fur, long boots and cosy gloves are the outfit of the season. Im probably very incorrect, but I love real fur I have inherited some from my grandmothers.
Your winter shopping tips are great! At least now that January is almost done, Valentines day is coming
Much love to you my dear, Sally xx
I know absolutely nothing about snow, but can be freezing cold on an 80° day, so some of these items may need to find their way to me in South Alabama! I'm one of those uninformed Southerners who thinks shoveling snow looks fun. That's like the northerners thinking they can walk across hot beach sand. Duh.
ReplyDeleteMy mom bought a pair of battery powered heated gloves when she moved to Chicago. Myself, I'm going to get one of those heated ice scrapers particularly if it will save my wine drinking arm from injury!
ReplyDeleteI'm so behind the times. I live in Michigan and I never used or knew about any of these things! The heated pads look pretty cozy! My winter lifesavers? A trunk full of kitty litter and hand warmers!
ReplyDeleteANOTHER well deserved "Mother of the Year" trophy?? Where do you keep them all??
ReplyDeleteStay warm; only about 6 more weeks of the worst of winter remaining.... if we are lucky.
