Hello, dear friends. I stayed up late watching the last of the returns. All I can say is fasten your seatbelts; it 's going to be a wild ride to November.
Without controversy, I present to you my favorite Wednesday link.
1. What do you think about luck?
Denzel and I are on the same page when it comes to luck.
2. Not counting your own backyard, what's a favorite green space in your town, city, or state?
The first place that comes to mind not so much for its beauty, but for its warm memories is Callahan State Park in Framingham. Last October, we met Chili's brother, Alan, and his Mom and Dad at this park. The two seemed to recognize each other immediately. They had the time of their lives running and playing on the trails. We are planning on meeting up again soon.
This photo was taken minutes after Chili and Alan were rescued from the streets of Houston.
3. How do you make your life more complex than it needs to be?
I have the talent of taking any somewhat simple situation and making it more complicated by worrying about the "what ifs."
4. I read that there are three places you should visit with friends. They are - New York City, Hawaii, and Amsterdam (rent a bike, walk along a canal, visit one of their world class museums). I felt the need to expound on that one. Moving on... of the three places listed which would you most like to visit with friends? What's one place not on the list you think should be visited with friends?
The one place that I think should be on the list and will be visited by my friends is Boston. My buddy, Susie B has met the love of her life and there will be a bachelorette party in the bride's honor in Boston next month that will make the wildest of bachelorette parties look like a tea party. Susie B has five fabulous, fun sistas (and two very handsome brothers) and about a hundred girlfriends who adore her. Rumor has it that Mayor Walsh is thinking of closing the city for this auspicious event. You can read about Susie B. here and her visit to the Kennedy Compound here.
If you live in Boston, take my advice and keep your children at home during the third weekend of April. I am also looking for some volunteers to put up bail money.
5. What's the last live performance you saw? On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the best) how would you rate it?
I give Love Letters a 10+++.
You can read my review here.
6. March 14th is National Potato Chip Day. Are you a fan? Your favorite flavor? Besides potato, what's your favorite chip type of snack?
My favorite chips are the Sea Salt & Vinegar, any brand. Fortunate for me, the Mister doesn't like them so he never buys them. Therefore, they are never in the house.
These chips are to me what catnip is to kitties. I tell the Mister not to buy these things, and yet he does. I then tell him to hide them from me, and I spend the rest of the day burning calories while looking for them.
7. What rule is most important in your home?
I'm married to Felix Unger.
I'll let you guess about the rule.
8. Insert your own random thought here.
Bear with me while I bore you with my new short hair dilemma. As some of you know, I have worn my hair in a ponytail for the past five years. The reason for that is that am a very lazy busy person.
There are a few things that I have learned from having short hair again.
1. It takes a village as well as deep pockets to keep short hair looking presentable.
2. Which brings me to number two. Do not even think about teasing it to give it more "volume."
3. You virtually have to be double jointed to handle all the irons and styling tools that are needed to put together a decent hairstyle.
4. Not only do I have my Fitbit to tell me how I slept at night, but I also have my hair to tell me where I've been.
4. And last, but certainly not least, when you have short hair, the wind is not your friend.
What is the number one rule in your house?
Until next time...

Love this guy's underbite!!
I'm married to Feix's twin too : ) When we moved south the humidity had me contemplating going short again. My daughter intervened and said she found it much tougher to manage than when it was long so I didn't cut it. I figure once we're on the lake it's baseball caps and pony tails. Boating and smooth hair do not go together. The good thing about hair is it grows!
ReplyDeleteThe campus pics are from Furman. A gorgeous place!
DeleteWhen are you going to share photos of your new do, Katie? I bet anything that you look great in short hair...me, not so much. Do not get me started on Stacy's Pita Chips...a definite weakness of mine, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckles again. I agree that short hair is more 'challenging' than long. I have done both and right now it's long enough to put back in a ponytail, and I wear it that way at home a lot. But vain person that I am I like it down out in public so my face doesn't look so round! (I like it freshly colored and blown out too!)
ReplyDeleteToo funny, can always count on you to get my day started on a great note. Love that we both have salt and vinegar chips in common (can't eat just one)! AND our "gift" of turning simple situations into big dramatic affairs lol
ReplyDeleteFunny I too am married to a Felix:) Enjoy your day.....and oh yes it will be one wild ride until November indeed!
ha I like the hair photos! :D I also love Stacy's Pita chips, especially the cinnamon ones!
ReplyDeleteI am glad i am not the only one watching the OJ series, i was only 10 at the time it happened so i remember very little.
I love short hair but it seems to have a two week window of perfect...otherwise it's too short or too long!! Oooo...I forgot about sea salt and vinegar...I like those too! Thanks for the chuckle on 7! Happy hodgepodge!
ReplyDeleteA lucky hodgepodge indeed! Enjoy your day Miss Katie :)
ReplyDeleteI'm visiting from the Hodgepodge and I LOVED your answers...haha
ReplyDeleteI've gone really short once. Difficult to get it to look good might be an understatement. I'm back to longer.
ReplyDeleteMy hair is so short that our waitress on Sunday asked if I had it that way on purpose - lol! She was very, very sweet, explaining that she'd shaved her head in support of her mother's breast cancer battle. She loved having it super short and kept it that way, but when her mom was cancer free (yay!!), her mom asked her to grow it long again - the short hair reminded her of what she'd been through and she wanted to move on. What a great story!
ReplyDeleteI love that story, Patsy. I bet you look great with your 'do!! Enjoy your week.
DeleteBoy can I relate to the short hair syndrome. A while back I wrote about my "break up" with my long time stylist...found 2 I liked to replace her. The first one was decent but quite a bit more $$ and not very friendly. So I went to my back up plan and really like the young lady that I've been going to since last fall. On my appt. last month I was ready for a new "me" and showed her a bunch of photos on my pinterest board....she said "let's go for it" so we did. I loved it! In fact, on my way home on the toll rode the young man said "darlin' I love your hair"! The next day in a restaurant a waitress took my photo saying she loved it too. Of course, after I washed it 2 days later it has never looked the same again....so I went BACK for a little more cut and still hate it! Now I have an appt. this Friday for even more cut/style! I don't know why my hair is misbehaving like it is! (LOL)
ReplyDeleteOur weather is picture perfect here in Alabama this week. Supposed to get some rain this evening and tomorrow. We might have another little cold "snap" then we'll be done with old man winter.
Have a great week Katie!
that should be "road" not "rode"....good grief!
DeleteSome of us absolutely cannot, should not wear long hair. Wearing it in a ponytail doesn't do anything for us. That would be me. Some people have facial structure and a good normal shaped head for a ponytail. I do not! My forehead is seriously low, as in Teresa Guidice! It's true and I have an egg head so my forehead is so small and chipmunk cheeks, very much like a pear, yes...that's it! A pear shaped head! So I always go short, no choice! Haha!!
ReplyDeleteHere is another short haired girl and I wouldn't change a thing. However, I am the dread of my hairstylist. He loves me but hates to see me coming. You see I have this crazy cow-lick in the back of my head and one centimeter too short and I look like I was licked by a cow with a very sticky tongue. One centimeter too long and I have to return sooner than he likes. So, we have this love/hate relationship. Always get a laugh from your posts. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThe few times I've had short hair, I discovered it's just as much if not more work than long hair. I always leave mine long enough to pull back now. It's the hairstyle that's akin to a shift dress. Throw it on and go. I've missed photos of your new do. I'm going to scroll back now to see if I can find one. I'm sure you're adorable.
ReplyDeleteI always save your Hodgepodge post for when I get home after a long day at school. I know you will have something on it to lift my spirits and make me laugh. I completely understand the hair issue. I am considering short, but.......long hair has its issues, too! Sea Salt and Vinegar chips are a close second to my Dill Pickle chips. Have a great rest of the week!
ReplyDeleteSo! You did go short. I'm thinking it's fashioned after the cute girl at our table at BYBC ... If so, I can't say I blame you. She swore that all she did was wash and go. No styling required whatsoever. Guess what? She probably never slept the entire weekend. She was fussing with her hair for HOURS. Good grief. What to do? I suggest scarves. Lots of them.
ReplyDeleteI bought a bag of Kettle Sea Salt & Vinegar potato chips today - love them. Great taste buds think alike!
ReplyDeleteYou have to share your fabulous haircut! I agree with you though, once you cut it short it takes a lot more work than putting it in a pony tail.
ReplyDeleteNot really a potato chip fan, I like cheetos. I am with you though, I cannot have stuff like that in the house or I will eat it.
I love your favorite green space, how wonderful o have Chilli meet her brother there. I think I forgot they were rescued, thank goodness your pups have you!
Have a great day! Happy St. Patricks day.
Oh this post made me smile! I have had the pleasure of visiting all of the lovely cities you mentioned and I would add that Paris with friends is divine! You should link up this happy post at Thoughts of Home on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderfully Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Even after a sleepless night I can count on you for a chuckle my friend! xo K
ReplyDeleteChicago with friends is a really fun city to visit too! Have similar hair issues. The heat and humidity are creeping in with spring and soon every day will be a bad hair day for me. Have a great St. Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteLove those hair pictures. My curly hair always looks crazy. Everything is getting really green here just in time for St Patrick's Day. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteKatie, I looked at this post yesterday. Did I not leave a comment? Shame on me! The short hair just cracked me up. In about 1992 I had super short hair and my husband (insane man) thought it was sexy. I look back at those pictures and just die....it was better than Donald Trump's hair though.
ReplyDeleteI love that you told me you sit in the chair too long looking at links. I do the same thing and hours pass. I've been joking that I'm going to get blood clots in my legs but truly, I hope that doesn't come true.
hope you have enjoyed your week.
ReplyDeleteI always love these posts of yours! Where do I begin?...the hair. You had me giggling with each photo. The dogs look so precious together. The last live performance I saw was Finding Neverland on Broadway with Kelsey Grammer and Matthew Morrison (who I got to meet after the show! What a cutie!) Oh and I also met the two dogs who shared the role of Nana in the play. In fact, if you get a chance, come over to my blog and look up "Broadway" and check out that post. It should give you a laugh - but nothing like the laugh I get from your entertaining posts! I am going to see Kinky Boots next month too with that same group of girls. I also have the "what if" talent...but wish I didn't. I drive myself crazy sometimes! As far as Boston goes, we plan to take the family up there in the next few weeks. We had planned to spend more time skiing in VT but with this pathetic ski season, we decided to do something else - Boston here we come! It will be the first time for the kids but I will be sure to keep the keep them away during your trip there! I can't wait to read all about that adventure! Have a great weekend. I hope you don't get hit by the storm. The forecasts are mixed here in NJ.
