Ciao Roma!

Hello dear friends.  We spent the weekend in the great state of Texas visiting our girls.  We left with wonderful memories and empty pockets.  Those girls sure know how to shop!  I took plenty of pics of our trip to the Big D that I will post later on in the week.

This is the second installment of our vacation.  If you are not bored to death by my vacation photos yet, and are interested in seeing Part 1, you can find it here.  My feelings won't be hurt if you move on.

Day 2, my boyfriend our driver, Vilio, picked us up bright and early.  We enjoyed a wonderful tour of Rome on our way to the boat.

Evidently, a lot of Roma is still under construction.

This door leads to the headquarters of the Knights of Malta.

This little keyhole is probably the most well known keyhole in the world.  It was designed by Piranesi in 1765.

Tourists stop by all day to peer through the keyhole and see a garden path that ends with hedges framing the dome of St. Peter's in the distance.

No one knows whether is was a beautifully planned peep show or a fortunate coincidence.

I'm thinking of using this pic on our Christmas card this year.
That'll keep the Mister in line.

If you are going to Rome and need a great driver/tour guide/boyfriend, I would be happy to share Vilio's info.  Don't tell the Mister that I have his cell number.

All Aboard!!

Until next time...

  5. Forget Rome.....YOU WERE IN DALLAS AND DIDN'T TELL ME!!!! I am only 2 1/2 hrs away and would have jumped in the car to get over there to finally meet you!!!! If only for vino......I know, I know how those trips go. Too much to do with so little time. But seriously?? If you ever come back, we must meet. We must!
And just kidding about forgetting Rome. Who could? I have Italy in my blood and would live there in a heartbeat. My last trip over, I spent 8 weeks backpacing across the country. Trip of a lifetime, I tell ya!!

So beautiful, and it makes the USA seem so young! Love your photos and your guide! We're planning a return, so I may need his # - you know, just in case!
