Hello, I'm Katie
I'm Katie. Welcome to my blog. I am an empty nester meandering through my midlife years one page at a time. We sold our antique home on the South Shore of Massachusetts in October 2020 and relocated to the Dallas suburbs and our forever home.
I love to write about books, movies, TV, celebrities, shopping, decorating, Bravo, and weekend adventures. My favorite writing material, however, is derived from my family: the Mister, my girls, #1 and #2, my favorite son-in-law, and my new little mischief-maker, thoroughly darling Millie. I love hearing from my wonderful readers.

Such a cozy and pretty room! Beverly Hills has managed to suck me back in - it's a train wreck and I can't look away :-)
ReplyDeleteSoo perfect! Love the sweet puppies!
ReplyDeleteLove the den! Thanks for sharing! FYI: It's going to be in the 70s today in Dallas!! See what you're missing!
ReplyDeletebjd... I know all about Dallas weather. My #1 who lives there, loves to call me with the weather forecast every day. Boy, do I ever miss those ultra mild winters. I used to buy my flowers the 3rd week of March. I don't even think about buying them here until Mother's Day! Have a wonderful weekend, dear bjd. If I seem jealous of you, you are right.
DeleteBeautiful room, Katie. The puppies are precious. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. I love all the symmetry, pops of color and bookcase doors. A decorator once asked me what my college major was - and then proceeded to tell me that I definitely was a "symmetry gal" - and she was right.
ReplyDeleteNo plowing yet??? Yikes !! Fire that guy (immediately after he hopefully shows up and plows you out).
The room looks so much brighter, even though the walls are darker. I love the door addition to the cabinets as well.
ReplyDeleteChowdah looks like a polar bear! I want to see snow angel photos next!
That room is decorated to perfection! The white paint was the way to go. Your fireplace and mantle décor is lovely. Just love pussy willow branches (think that's what you've got up there.) And Enchanted Home blog has me craving some blue and white pieces. You've got the touch. Thanks for the fun and inspiring post.
ReplyDeleteThe Enchanted Home is my inspiration! Can't get enough of Tina's gorgeous blog!! Have a great weekend, Carol!
DeleteGorgeous!! Love everything about that room, your whole house actually… Chowdah and Chili are so cute! Stay warm in that nasty weather. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks Gina!! Have a great weekend.
DeleteJust gorgeous but I expected nothing less given how you have tackled the rest of your beautiful home...of course loving all the blue and white touches!!
ReplyDeleteThose little lovebugs are so cute, looks like Chowdah is really loving the snow...he blends right in:) Stay warm and safe!
Beautiful Home and an even more BEAUTIFUL YOU!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour den is so warm and inviting...just like the rest of your house! So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJean
Thank you so much, dear Jean. Have a great weekend!
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. Hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteGorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! You do have taste and style my dear!
ReplyDeleteJust found out my driveway was finally plowed at 3:30 this afternoon! Thank goodness there was no emergency!
Stay Calm and Drink Wine!
Denise
Great advice, dear Denise. Hope you're not too hot in Florida!! Have a great weekend!
DeleteLove this -- blue and white are my den accent colors, along with peachy-coral. Fab!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Paige... Hope you're staying nice and warm in Dallas!!! Have a great weekend!
DeleteWoo hoo..glad you had power to write. The room looks fantastic. What is the wall color paint? I think I'd like to use it.
ReplyDeleteChowdah and Chili are the absolute cutest. They remind me of my brother's Goldendoodle. Love him! (the dog, well, my brother too). :o))) Wow! what a difference in the room and for the better might I add. So open and inviting! I do hope our new home will have that feel. Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteFun, bright and full o of personality just like you! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how I haven't discovered you before. What with all the time I spend perusing the internet while watching Bravo. I have been doubled over laughing reading your blog. Which, of course, means the pups think I want them to read with me.... I am going back to reading, but I just wanted to check in.
ReplyDeleteCheryl.
Cheryl, you sound like my kind of girl!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteJust beautiful!! The "Dogs are Welcome" pillow is perfect! I am loving the addition of Lisa R. and Eileen but am so over Brandi and her antics. I'm worried that our pal, Andy, will keep Brandi because she brings drama and dump one of the new gals because they bring sanity. Will you give him a call?
ReplyDeleteI hope that your driveway is plowed by now. I used to have the same problem with the plow guy I had years ago. I love the people I have now but of course he is 2x the price! Lucky for you that your have a lovely cozy den to snuggle with your fur babies. Chili looks positively regal sitting in that chair. Be well ...& warm. Hugs, Dawn
ReplyDeleteThanks Dawn. Looks like more snow is coming tonight. Hope it skips your area! Have a wonderful weekend with DD and DH.
DeleteLove your den - beautiful mix of colours, especially the red sofa - and all the pillows.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eli. You always leave the nicest comments. Have a great weekend.
DeleteThank you Katie - you always make me laugh! Stay warm and happy!
DeleteLove love love that picture of the bunnies above your fireplace. Where did you find that? Room looks beautiful. Yes, agree with other comment, you do have good taste and style. Please reply about the pic. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words! We got that painting above the fireplace at an antique shop in Dallas about 12 years ago. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. Have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteWell Miss Katie....this was worth the wait! The room is charming beyond compare! I so loved that you changed the trim to white....I would have done just that! Lovely, lovely bookcases...just adore them! You have done a beautiful transformation and breathed elegance into this gorgeous home! Thank you so much for sharing with us! I think I'll go back for a second look!! Stay warm...please!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect house to be snowbound in! Love your style. I am still waiting for just one little snow storm to come our way and shut Raleigh down. I need an excuse to sit on the couch all day. My goldendoodles LOVE the snow too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful room! I absolutely love all the changes. One question. Where are you hiding the tv?
