Room Reveal: The Front Hall

Hello dear friends.  I can't speak for fellow bloggers, but I will tell you a deep dark secret of mine.

Sometimes I wake up and I can't think of a darn thing to write about.  The weekend was a wash-out.  I don't have any pictures to share of our weekend escapades.  No movie or book reviews.  Basically, I watched one boring political ad after another.  I answered the phone every twenty minutes with recorded announcements from the candidates being blared at the other end.  But the end is finally here.  TGIED!  Thank God It's Election Day!

I remembered that I still haven't finished my home tour.  I have yet to take photos of the Mister's office, our den, or our front hall.

So without further adieu, come on in.

This is a pic from when the former owners were in residence.

We painted the area as well as added more molding.

We also replaced all the sconces.  The existing ones were very old and had pull chords.

This is my new favorite thing from the shop at The Enchanted Home
.

Five years old and contemplating my future as a trophy wife/supermodel.  The desk was my sweet little grandma's.

The new guy on the block from Salem.

The bell jar is from The Enchanted Home, as well.

Thanks for stopping by.  Next time I'll make some cookies!

Happy Tuesday!

Mom, can you please stop taking pictures and play with us?

  1. Election day and what is an at home for the day teacher to do, but read blogs and plan for future lessons. Notice read blogs came first. Anyway the hall looks stunning...love the color and fixtures. The painting of the ducks reminds me of my favorite book of all time...Make Way for Ducklings...it was the very first brand new book I owned and how appropriate that it takes place in Boston ...my childhood home and now not far from your new adopted home state....sorry about the New England politics...remember it was the Boston rabble-rousers who started a revolution that formed the foundations of our country...the sun'll come out tomorrow and the ads will go to sleep. The portrait of you as a child is lovely.

  2. Holy cannoli, your home is ready to be published! Looks SOOOOO GORGEOUS! I am so happy a few of my products were able to part of this fabulous home! They look stunning and truly do them justice. I am impressed on top of being a trophy wife you are indeed a talented designer too:) Congrats on a job well done!!!

  3. PS So agree about the nonstop bombardment of political patheticness (making up the word) ...it is disgusting how low they will go. Enough!

  4. I am so tired of the ads for our senate race in NC - every ad is an ugly battle between the two. I just love a beautiful, gracious entrance hall - sets the tone for the entire house, and yours is both. Adore the color and the doors are amazing! Those are the sweetest faces!!

  5. Beautiful entry, Katie. Love how you have done it over and made it your own. That is a dear little picture of you at 5 years old. Elections can end soon enough for me. We have been on the national news with our governor's election more times than I can count. I will be happy to see the end of it-one way or the other-xo Diana

  6. Very pretty and we coming. I love the soft light from the lamps and I think I would have purchased the home just for those leaded windows!

  7. Great looking entryway!
TGIED!!! But I think after today and after all of the political commercials are pulled, starting tomorrow, we are going to bombarded with CHRISTMAS commercials!

  8. Katie the entryway is beautiful the new moldings were just the thing the room needed. Don't you just love the items from the enchanted home, have bought a few things from Tina, and just love the quality of her items. I had to smile as I was reading the post, I can just imagine Chow running down the hall rugs flying, I am sure it is one of his favorite places to play. so pretty thanks for sharing.

    1. You sure know Chow well. His favorite thing to do is to run thru the house and jump on the throw rugs and make them slide. Have a great week, Cindy!

  12. So gorgeous and elegant! The portrait of you is precious. I had an older friend tell me when I first had a baby that five years old is the perfect age for a portrait. They still have those cute baby features, but have started to look like their grown-up self as well.

  15. Your home is stunning! I am swooning over the blue-and-white pieces. Over a decade ago MoonPie and I downsized and in a moment of menopausal insanity I gave my extensive blue-and-white collection to my daughter. (Did I think I was going to die soon?) I wish I had given her the sterling silver instead. Blue-and-white is happiness that you get to see all year and never needs polishing. After five years MoonPie and I discovered that we simply couldn't live in a small area with each other after all and we upsized again. Now I have room for it again, but started a different colleciton. *heavy sigh*. The white ironstone just doesn't do it for me like my blue-and-white collection did. I'm still cursing the movie "Something's Gotta Give" for making me think it could.

I can't wait to see the rest of your tour.

    1. Dee ... Love your blog. I am putting it on my blog roll. Your writing style is great. All my sterling silver is hidden away so I don't have to polish it. Have a great Thursday.

  18. Katie, your entrance hall is just gorgeous and I love your portrait. I'm so tired of all the political ads, makes me not want to vote for any of the crooks...I mean, politicians!

I'd love for us to be neighbors too...but we might get in a bit of trouble shopping! Bet we'd have a good time just visiting and talking too!

  23. Katie,
I'd much prefer to hear your voice on the phone.....than all those pre-recorded messages leading up to election. (As if they are going to be my deciding factor!) So much fun to see where Chowdah and Chili rule!
I think Tina over at The Enchanted home should sponsor you. Just sayin.
