I woke up to a gorgeous morning here in Texas. When I went out to water my pots, it was a crisp 74 degrees. I know many of you would never consider that temperature "crisp," but when you have been battling temps in the 100's - anything in the 70's is a welcomed relief.
The Mister and I decided to take in a movie at my favorite fancy shmancy movie theater with the lazy boy chairs and wait service. I just love this place!
I chose the movie. It was one that I looked forward to seeing since I first watched the trailer. I positively love movies about the Mafia and the fact that it featured an incredible cast made me even more excited to see it.

A mafia boss and his family are relocated to a sleepy town in France under the witness protection program after snitching on the mob. Despite the best efforts of Agent Stansfield to keep them in line, Fred Manzoni, his wife Maggie and their children Belle and Warren can't help but revert to old habits and blow their cover by handling their problems the "family" way, enabling their former mafia cronies to track them down. Chaos ensues as old scores are settled in the unlikeliest of settings.

Mama Mia!!! What a disappointment. How could Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Tommy Lee Jones agree to do this movie? All three of them need to find a consigliere to help them with their future film choices.
First of all, I could not for the life of me figure out whether this film was suppose to be a comedy or a drama. It was not funny enough to be considered a comedy and it definitely lacked the depth to be a drama.
The film was extremely dark and surprisingly, very violent. A lot of the movie's violence was administered by the teen aged children of the main characters. These scenes made the movie very uncomfortable to watch.
All I can say is.... Martin Scorcese better watch out that the mob doesn't put a contract out on him for directing such a lousy piece of work.

Glad you shared...we were considering it due to the cast. We'll pass. It was cool last night as well as this morning. And yes, anything below 75 is welcome this time of year.

ReplyDeleteBummer I was wanting to see it but somehow had the hunch that the previews would be the best part of the entire movie and sounds like I am right. What a waste of talent!! Too bad...another one bits the Hollywood dust.

ReplyDeletethought it might be something I wanted to see, good to know! Haven't been on line for a while, just caught up on your posts. Wow, making the big move to Boston, how exciting! I flew into Boston last October, (didn't see any of it though)to meet up with my sister who flew in from CA on our way to visit my niece at Dartmouth in Hanover NH. First time in New England and fell in love! I think it's one of the most beautiful areas I've ever been. Stayed in Hanover, gorgeous, visited Woodstock, a real storybook town. and as much country in between as we could see. It was like we were in a movie, it was so gorgeous! I think it's about 2 to 2 and a half hrs from Boston. I'd go back in a heartbeat! You're gonna have so much fun exploring! Can't wait to tag along on your new adventures!!

ReplyDeleteI was planning to see that movie, even thought it would be one that my doesn't-like-to-go-to-movies husband would enjoy. I know there is one of those fancy movie theaters near us. I'll have to check that out. The prospect of a Lazy Boy chair and a glass of wine might just get him to go to the movies!
And I love Rebecca's recommendations of Hanover and Woodstock as magical places to visit. I would add Quechee, VT to the list. Don't miss the Simon Pearce glass blowing studio and shop!
