Hello, dear friends. I hope that you enjoyed your weekend. Ours was filled with tons of fun and lots of laughter. There's never a dull moment hanging out with our #1 and Adorable Jonathon (AJ).
Although a tropical storm was pending, we lucked out with perfect weather.
Lady Julia and Sir Tim stopped over to say hello. Lady Julia is #1's former roomie from college. Sir Tim is her knight in shining armor. They both live in Dallas and spent the weekend on the Cape visiting Sir Tim's family.
We took #1 and AJ for lunch on the water at the Mill Wharf in Scituate. Lobster Rolls were in order to celebrate their visit to the East Coast. As usual, the food and service were topnotch. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around the waterside shops. Scituate is one of my favorite towns on the South Shore.
That evening, the Mister whipped up a light dinner and #1 and AJ spent time spoiling Chowdah and Chili.
The next day, we headed to Bean Town for a Duck Tour and lunch. I have become a big fan of the infamous Duck Tour and knew #1 and AJ would get a kick out of it.
Years ago, when we would visit Disneyland and Disneyworld, the Tea Cup ride was our girls' favorite. Our #1 would not get into one of the tea cups unless it was pink. We spent more time in that tea cup line than any other ride. Needless to say, #1 was delighted to see that we were riding in the hot pink Duck truck!
Mack the Quack was our Captain and tour guide.
That is, until Captain Adorable Jonathon took over.
I don't think that Captain AJ wanted to give the wheel back to Mack the Quack.
We celebrated our voyage with Captain AJ at one of our favorite restaurants, Stephanie's.
We had an hour wait for a table, but when the hostess saw that we were with the Captain, she shortened the wait to 55 minutes. It's all about who you know, folks!
Adorable Jonathon decided to celebrate his new side job with one of Stephanie's famous Bloody Marys.
AJ's concoction.
My girl was not as daring.
That evening, there was more spoiling of the fur babies and a light dinner ala the Mister.
The next day was spent in another favorite town of mine, Chatham.
While my #1 and I shopped the men stood guard.
It's has a beautiful front porch where we could indulge our people-watching skills.
The reviews on the Wild Goose Tavern were mixed. Our #1 and AJ enjoyed their burger and lobster roll, but the Mister and I were not so lucky. The Mister's crab and lobster cheese quesadillas lacked two things: the crab and the lobster. Our waiter was also short of two things: a personality and a smile.
But all was forgotten with the first bite of our ice cream cones.
Before we knew it, #1 and AJ hopped a plane back to Dallas.
It was an almost perfect weekend. The only thing missing was our #2 who was at school studying hard.
Chowdah and Chili keep asking when #1 and AJ are coming back. They said that the Mister and I are not nearly as much fun. Guess we're going to have to step up our game.
Until next time...

What a fabulous weekend with #1 and her beau! That duck tour looks like a riot! I think you all should be featured in travel brochures or magazines -- you all look so good!
ReplyDeleteOh, I want a return trip back to the Cape and Boston! Your photos have me longing for a flight east. I'm editing your descriptions to Adorable #1 and Adorable Jonathan. ;-) Those smiles are infectious! I can hear the laughter and feel the joy just from looking at your photos. Fun time all around. You and the mister are great tour guides. I'd opt to dine at home on the mister's cuisine myself. I bet he makes a mean lobster roll.
ReplyDeleteGive Chowdah and Chili extra hugs this week. ;-)
Beyond perfect. What a great weekend. And I wouldn't want to be a restaurant getting a blah review from The Mister. He's the real deal!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am hysterical at Adorable Jonathan driving the boat, who knew he was so talented. That Bloody Mary is almost as gorgeous as #1, yes please with extra bacon. jmac, I know that house with the Windmill, friends rented that years ago. Such a darling house and the view is spectacular.
ReplyDeleteSo happy the nest was full for the long weekend. annie_g
The Bloody Mary looks deliciously refreshing. It's become my favorite brunch beverage, taking over from the mimosa. We have a new Duck Boat company here on Mobile Bay, and I have to, just HAVE to give it a try! Looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a wonderful long weekend.
What fun! Your whole family is adorable. I need to get back to Boston so we can do those Duck Boats. It was too cold when we were up there in March!

Looks like it was a fun time! Waiters should be nice and smile because they never know when a blogger just might blow their cover. ha! Having kids home is so much fun...and the fur babies get spoiled. Do they grump up after the young ones leave? Our golden loved our kids and totally ignored us when the younger members of the family showed up hugs and snacks. :-) Sheila
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend, wish I could have tagged along. It's always fun to have our grown children home for a few days. And, Chili and Chowdah, what can I say except that they are adorable!
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing day!! :-)

ReplyDeleteMy husband's cousin owned an inn on Chatham (The Captain's House)many years ago. It is such a lovely town. I think the Gooseneck Tavern deserves a pass!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect Weekend Katiie!! Such darling and full of fun kiddos- so happy you were all together for a fabulous Labor Day!! How dare your waiter be short on smiles with your fun crew! xo, Jenny aka "Allie"
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better in life than a visit with our 'adult' children.
ReplyDeleteAlthough at times they don't think I am as smart as I am!

I'm so glad that you had such a great weekend with #1 and AJ. The pink Duck Boat? What a treat! Those tours are just the right amount of touristy kitsch for me. They do a great job and are obviously very good at spotting talent for Captains. So, the next time we are at Stephanie's are we going for the Bloody Marys?
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great weekend was had by all! Happy to hear the storm missed you! xx Rox-Anne, Celebratingthislife.ca
ReplyDeleteYou have the most gorgeous family, Katie! I always love getting a glimpse of the east coast vibe when I stop by. I was just catching up and notice all the bloggers you've had fun connecting with this summer. Lucky you---lucky them! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of the blue cheese, too!
xx
Your Labor Day weekend looks like such fun (apart from the quesadillas, which definitely were missing something!). Good news on the weather!
ReplyDeleteJust in time! Our son's post graduate corporate training takes place next month in Boston. He'll put the Duck Tours on his list.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun fabulous weekend! So glad the bad weather gave you a miss. I need a clever name for Daughter2's bf...hmmm. He is also adorable : ) I have a friend from the UK who lives in Scituate, but I've never been to her home. Have a great weekend! I am slowly trying to catch up on the blog reading and writing.
ReplyDeleteKatie, stop blogging this instant and start your own reality show! Seriously.
