Hello dear friends. I wish I had good news. No, I am still not finished with my #@%& decorating. I have been distracted by a certain doggie who has some stomach issues due to the fact that he has decided to add tennis balls, ornaments, roadkill, and anything else he can get his muddy paws on, to his daily nutritional intake. So I attempted to take this certain pooch, who will remain nameless, to the Vet yesterday. But along with his other ailments, he is
suffering from a recurrence of "jumping block" and refused to get in the car. His father, otherwise known as the Mister, took today off from work to bring his first born son to the vet.
Someone who prefers to remain nameless guarding his favorite appetizer.
On the home front, the master bath is suffering from a clogged sink and bathtub. I guess it's part of the charm of owning an old house. Sorry, I know your disappointed, but no pictures to share.
If you have been reading this blog for a year, I am sure you will remember the infamous posts that Dude wrote involving a fresh new way of utilizing your tree skirt. If you missed the posts, you can find them here, here and here.
Good news, fashionistas! Dude is back with yet another Christmas skirt post! I gave her an assignment and she did not disappoint.
As a side note, please do not make fun of Dude's fat legs. She is very sensitive about them. Not everyone can be a tall, lanky, supermodel trophy wife such as myself.

'Tis the Season to break out THE holiday accessory....The Christmas Tree Skirt!!!!
Now that it's been a year since I purchased my Christmas Tree Skirt/caplet (aka The Skape) from Home Goods, Katie has assigned me to do a follow up .....gotta say, I still love my purchase (truth be told I bought two)!! I'm happy the holiday season is upon us because it gives me an opportunity to don my favorite party accessory!!
MAJOR. FASHION UPDATE:
Could Vogue's Anna Wintour actually be out and about wearing a Christmas Tree Skirt?????
My assignment is:
" 5 Ways to Wear Your Christmas Tree Skirt ":
1.) With palazzo pants
2.) Black tree skirt with a pencil skirt
3 & 4) Stripe turtleneck, jeans, and black "skape"
5.) White jeans, brown (or black) skape
Thanks, Dude, for another fabulous post. I am so impressed that I am giving you a title and doubling your salary. Your welcome.
Your next assignment, if you choose to accept it is:
4 Ways to Wear Your 4-Week old Wreath
to An Afternoon Tea
And for those of you who really want to see how it's done, here is a photo shot by the paparazzi of a very famous, young, skinny supermodel trophy wife. I am not at liberty to share her name.
If you're going to a holiday party this weekend, don't forget to don your tree skirt!
(and send me a pic)
What a great post....I still vividly recall the very first installment of this fashion craze; I couldn't stop laughing!! No one knows how to style a skape quite like Dude! My favorite look is paired with the jeans & striped turtleneck...very chic! I need a striped turtleneck; I think I found my look for our next lunch date! Hope #1 son is feeling better. xoxo, Dawn
ReplyDeleteI've never had a dog, but I've heard many stories about their "snacks." I fail to comprehend the appeal of a tennis ball, ornament, sock, etc. It couldn't be taste, nutritional value or severe hunger, so is it the texture?? I don't have a clue.
ReplyDeleteWhen I asked Chow he told me it is "personal."
DeleteI just finished a book called "Surviving Henry" you should read it, you'll think Chowdah is the best dog ever. My Bernese ate everything when he was a pup, even his bed. We had him to the vet so many times before he was one. I'm still laughing over the tree skirt! I just bought one yesterday that has sparkly snow flakes, can't wait to try it with my jeans. I'm thinking happy hour tonight with the girls!
DeleteThat's the spirit Ginger! You should declare it a tree skirt happy hour!!! I will definitely download "Surviving Henry." Thanks for the tip and enjoy your evening with your buds and your weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the Christmas tree skirt! Of course, this completely reminds me of Bernice's Christmas tree skirt.
ReplyDeleteNow, your skape brings out your itty-bitty waist. Soooo jealous! ;-)
I can't tell if you are serious or pulling my leg, but I swear I know someone who wore their tree skirt to host one of the biggest Christmas parties in town! I starred at her all night trying to figure out what in Sam hill was going on with her "cape," then realized it was the danged tree skirt!!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about Chowda. Poor pooch!
ReplyDeleteForget the ugly Christmas sweater contests....let's do it right and have a "best tree skirt cape" contest. You ladies sure know how to rock a tree skirt!
Thanks for your wit, wisdom, and being honest about decorating. It makes us procrastinators feel so much better about our lack of progress in that department. At the rate I am going I will have our trees decorated by Valentine's Day and will have them down by Easter.
Have a fabulous weekend!
You go!!! I'll be on the same schedule! Have a great weekend!
DeletePoor Chowah (and his parents). Last year the day before we were headed out of town for the holidays my german shepherd decided to eat my favorite starfish Santa, ate everything but the straw hat! I wasn't worried about that one but later that night I discovered he had eaten some star ornaments made out of hard plastic and glitter. All I could think of was that he had punctured his esophagus or stomach so off to the emergency vet we went late that night. Luckily he was fine $$$ later…
ReplyDeleteI would totally wear a couple of those tree skirt outfits! ;)
Gina.. I am the biggest worry wart in the world. I'm always afraid when I see him monching on a big stick. I think that he's going to get a blister in his throat. When I told his Vet, she said dogs will be dogs...Have a great weekend, Gina.
DeleteThat Dude. I can see that she didn't take your advice and go on a leg slimming exercise plan. I am feeling really bad about those chunky legs. Thanks to both of you for another great installment and a big laugh. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteNext year let's plan a blogger's Skape party!! Have a fab weekend!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously too funny and what a good sport...hey she could be onto something! Looks like Anna is already in on the secret:) And that "mystery dog" and the way he is so good at getting attention....gotta hand it to him, he gets an A+ for both creativity in his ways to earn it and perseverance in his unrelenting pursuit to remain top dog:)
ReplyDeleteSince there aren't even any lights on my tree yet I think tonight will be the perfect night to don my tree skirt for an engagement party! I'll let you know if I get any compliments!
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny! Our Christmas skirt is not as fancy so it gets relegated back to the closet after the holidays are over. We can't imagine wearing the wreath though... we'd leave a trail of needles. Hope Chow is feeling better!

Poor Chowdah! Thats the Lab in him they just eat anything and everything that was what happened to my poor late Hogan. He was the 6 million dollar dog always at the vet for something he digested! I love DUDE bring her to the next blogger event too!
ReplyDeleteThere has to be some way to combine the Skape with the ugly Christmas sweater craze. Some guys went on Shark Tank and got an investment to boost their ugly sweater company and now they have (I'm not kidding) millions of dollars in sales. You and Dude could take this Skape thing to great heights. And with Anna Wintour as your celebrity spokesperson...the sky is the limit!
ReplyDeleteSending get well wishes - and some puppy Pepto Bismol - to Chow.

ReplyDeleteWow! That is an inspiring thing you are going through, or at least are pushing for. The clogged sink and drain shouldn't be as much of a problem in the near future, as competent methods and agencies are just around the corner to resolve them. Anyway, thanks for sharing that! All the best to you!

Sorry to hear about your dog's behavioral problems. I laughed a little too hard at the "someone who prefers to remain nameless guarding his favorite appetizer" text above that adorable dog photo. Anyway, I love the clothes, particularly the bright pink jeans as well as the white jeans near the end.
