Hello, dear friends. I just found out that there is no Hodgepodge this week, so I kind of threw this post together. As you will see, we put a little more effort into the outside of the house than the inside.
We have two of these bowls on the stone wall. There is a family of chipmunks that have taken up residence in one of the walls and feast on one of the bowls. I guess they don't like to leave their comfort zone to venture to the other bowl. Needless to say, they know me by name at the nursery.
Speaking of comfort zones, this year I decided to use Asters in the urns instead of Mums.
What can I say?
I live life on the edge.
My Fall mantra is... when in doubt, use mini pumpkins.
These flowers have lived for two weeks, and they're still going strong.
When I lived in McKinney, there were two lovely ladies that had a home accessory business. They would travel down to Mexico and come home with trucks of must-haves for the home. One of their clients would open their home for them to decorate and people were invited to see the accessories in a home setting. I bought this turkey about ten years ago from them, and every time I pull it out I think of the fun my tennis buds and I had that day.
In the sunroom, I like to decorate with two mischevious pups and a bowl of apples and scented pinecones.
Until next time...
Katie, THOSE DOGS !!! Love them.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Fall is busting out all over at your home. Just lovely.
xx's
Everything looks so festive. Love pics of Chili and Chowdah however!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I wish I'd thought of asters. They're fabulous -- especially with those pumpkins and the orange. And your dogs -- love to the max! I love the sunroom. The pinecones and apples are very fall but it will carry through transitionally through the winter holidays too -- unless they are faux apples, in which case...
ReplyDeleteTruly, it all looks so very lovely. Hats off to you!
Awe, this is so gorgeous!! I love your style. I know you must just pinch yourself to be living in an historic home back east instead of smackdab in Dallas.
ReplyDeleteLooks just beautiful!! And nobody's foolin' me, that little primadonna on the sofa has center stage. Lol. They're both so cute! PS. Could you send the elves over to clean and decorate my house please???

ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous! I love all of your arrangements outside!
ReplyDeleteKatie -- you have just the right touch, plenty of pumpkins and flowers to signal the season without going over the scarecrow cliff. Love the asters!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Katie!! Oh and I saw a mercury glass pumpkin at my local TJ Maxx and thought of you!!
ReplyDeleteYour fall looks just wonderful. Mimi pumpkins add an understated touch of fall that work very well. I love your pretty mantel with blue pieces. And your dining room table decor looks lovely. 😊🍁🍂🎃
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say? Your home is exquisite! You have beautiful style and beautiful stuff! I especially like your window boxes. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteWOW!! You have done an amazing job...I am seriously inspired. i have yet to add anything inside except for Karolyn's beautiful pumpkins:)
ReplyDeleteYou have been one busy little fall elf..belongs in a magazine! Great job, and you should enter my contest! Have a great night:)
Love the asters!
ReplyDeleteLove the asters!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the purple asters with the pumpkins..would have never thought of that combo. I will have to copy! The pinecones with apples are stunning...for Christmas just add pine trimmings! Your home is just stunning and love how you write, great sense of humor. I also decorate fall with Blue and White...You have impeccable taste.
ReplyDeleteLove it all, so warm and welcoming! I did get my mercury glass pumpkins and gourds yesterday and the are now proudly displayed on my dining table thanks to you. :o))
ReplyDeleteKatie you always make me chuckle. Yes. What an edgy woman you are choosing those purple astors instead of the typical Mums haha and they look beautiful by the way. Love the lavender and orange combo. Your entire house is so warm and cozy!

So much loveliness!! I stopped putting pumpkins outside; little forest creatures would destroy them in a few days. I seemed to be the only one on the block this would happen to..go figure. I think your adorable pups accent your sunroom perfectly! oxo, Dawn
ReplyDeleteKatie- You've got the touch. What makes it even better is it is all wrapped up with humor and friends and family in mind.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as always! I love the cute turkey, and the apples and pine cones. Your home is classy and cozy looking!
ReplyDeleteI made the decision today not to buy pumpkins to put on the porch this year. The squirrels like to feast on them and last year I was constantly having to replace them. So the squirrels win this one. Well, actually they don't win because I'm taking away the goodies. Ha! I'll show them!
ReplyDeleteI did buy the minis for the house and my hostess gift of choice this season has been a large blue or fairytale pumpkin with a bow.
Love seeing all your blue and white. It's great with orange. '-)
Looks great! I appreciate your taste!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way as you about those mini pumpkins! Your home looks beautiful and I don't think I have ever mentioned how much I love your dining table! The window boxes look amazing too! And your darling doggies are the perfect accessories!

You know, Katie, you are a Texas girl at heart. So, perhaps we should add this post to our Fall In Love With Texas blog tour schedule. :) Seeing all your pumpkins and asters outside in New England really makes me feel Fall. Love all your blue inside. My sister lived in New Hampshire and Maine for about 10 years and it was wonderful visiting her during October.

You've done a great job making fall come alive, Katie, both inside and outside your beautiful home. I simply love everything.
ReplyDeleteWe have chipmunks who have burrowed under the pavers of our patio. It is a disaster and actually dangerous. We have to redo it in the spring and it will be interesting to find how we prevent this issue.
Anyway...as far as your outdoor pumpkins...spray them with Pledge furniture polish. Works like a charm. Believe me!

Your home looks terrific! Love your window boxes decorated for Fall; what a festive idea! Sadly, over the years my enthusiasm for seasonal and holiday decorating has waned.
ReplyDeleteKatie - my goodness do you have such a flair for decorating! You home is simply stunning inside and out! I love all the fall decor . . . lovely! And my favorite - the white rooster you have in front of the mirror - I have what appears to be the exact same one in my house! My mom got it for me - we call him Joe after the white rooster I had when I was a kid! Ha!
ReplyDeleteYou have quite the knack for decorating sweet lady! I love what you did with the windowboxes and the apples in the sunroom go absolutely perfectly! It's those little touches that make a house a home and yours is so lovely and inviting!
ReplyDeleteI am completely enchanted by every image. There is nothing I love quite as much as a gorgeous white clapboard house...stunning!! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteHow delightful! Katie...you have a stunning home! I so enjoyed the tour....classic New England!
ReplyDeleteLovely, Katie. Your home is gorgeous.
ReplyDeletePledge for the pumpkins? Who knew? Not me. Wonder if I could spray my tulip bulbs to keep the squirrels away. Canadian squirrels are quite fond of tulip bulbs in planters, I've found. My other sister once had something far nastier nibbling on her pumpkin that was sitting on the kitchen counter. It was quite horrid. Not even Beatrix Potter could have made that rodent adorable, Sis. On to happier thoughts - your asters are splendid.
ReplyDeleteYOU MY DEAR are READY...................
ReplyDeleteWow -- everything looks so pretty and fallish!! Do you spray those pumpkins with something to keep the squirrels from making a huge mess? I tried spraying last year and it worked for a week and then the squirrels had a feast!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Purple Asters are perfect with the orange pumpkin! Next year, everyone will be doing it. Did you know we don't have chipmunks on the Gulf Coast? Just big, giant squirrels. The first time I saw a chipmunk I thought it was so adorable! Sorry to know they're thieves like their ratty squirrel cousins.
ReplyDeleteKatie, I absolutely love your decorating style! Your house is so beautifully decorated. Your Fall touches look lovely! Happy Fall!!!
ReplyDeleteYay for pumpkins! I have squirrels that disrupt everything outside, agh! Love the apples and pinecones in your red & white sun room- Everything looks lovely Katie,
