Hello, dear friends. Did you have a good weekend? Mine was fantabulous. The Mister asked me Friday night if I wanted to spend the day on Nantucket on Saturday. I couldn't say yes fast enough. I had just read on Facebook that one of my favorite authors, Elin Hilderbrand, was doing a book signing at Mitchell's. I mentioned her book in my last post as one that is on my gotta read list.
So, early Saturday morning, we caught a ferry to Paradise, otherwise known as Nantucket.
As soon as we hopped off the boat, we headed to one of my favorite book stores, Mitchell's. I bought a few copies of Elin's third book in her trilogy, Winter Storms. I can't wait to read this one because I enjoyed the first two so much. I bought one for myself and a few more for Christmas and hostess gifts.
I told Elin that my Sista and I had the time of our lives at the weekend that we spent on the island that she hosted a couple of years ago. You can read about it here and here.
Elin told me that she is throwing another fabulous bucket list weekend in January during Martin Luther King weekend. I highly recommend it, and Sista and I are talking about doing it again because it was so much fun.
Elin is a bundle of energy. During the weekend, she told great stories as well as took the helm of an entertaining bus tour of all the hot spots that she wrote about in her books.
By the way, look at what I am wearing as opposed to Elin. I had about nine layers on because the forecasters predicted a cool day. They were wrong. It was in the mid 70's, and I was sweating like a moderator at a presidential debate.
By the way, the Nantucket Hotel and Resort hosts the Elin bucket list weekend. The hotel is gorgeous, and the service and food are superb. You can find the info here.
The Trilogy:
A lovely read for over the holidays.

My absolute favorite book of Elin's.

I have a lot more pictures to share with you from that magical day. Now all I need is the time to organize them.
Until next time...
Whaaaaat??? I am the first to comment here? Absolutely splendid. Of course, I adore Elin's books. How is it possible that I've yet to read any of the trilogy ones? Yikes. Too many boxing conferences, I guess. Grinning over your clothing contrasts. She can borrow yours when she does her next book signing in Port Wenn ...
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteHa, I am laughing about the clothing too. I wondered if she was cold or you were warm. ;-)
Have a great week!
Carla
Love Elin, love Nantucket, love your blog! My daughter & I did the bucket list weekend last year and had so much fun we're doing it again! Recommend it highly.
ReplyDeleteMaureen... so glad to hear it. I may see you there!
DeleteI have read a few of her books and have enjoyed them.
ReplyDeleteLove your cover-poncho.
The book signing and bucket list weekend sound like fun! Thanks for the book recommendations!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day😀
Oh how fun! I love this :)
ReplyDeleteI am experiencing serious envy right now - you are one lucky girl!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun weekend to me. I noticed that right away--that she was sleeveless and you were bundled up to face the wrath of a nor'easter. lol Then, I felt bad for thinking that and thought maybe you were having a reverse hot flash....
ReplyDeleteAnyway- so glad you had a good day! xo Diana
I have to be honest, the first thing I noticed was your fabulous poncho next to her sleeveless pink top... I thought that maybe she was having a personal summer. Anyway, how I wish I could join you and Sista for that weekend, but the health insurance is keeping me anchored to the JOB so I have to choose my weekends away wisely.
ReplyDeleteSounds fabulous! I am going to took into the weekend trip and maybe my sister and I can make it this year!
ReplyDeletethis post is oh so bittersweet to me today.....I told you in your last post that I was in process of reading Elin's The Matchmaker. Today I spent 9 hours at the Houston Medical Center at Houston Methodist while my son underwent testing for a recent heart murmur. It was decided at the end of the day that he will have open heart surgery in a few weeks. Needless to say, it's been quite an emotional day. I read Elin's book all day while waiting and then just before I turned on computer in my hotel room, I finished her book....sobbing all the while.
ReplyDeleteAnd then I read this post. It's some kinda sign to me, I think. Now, I know I have to read every single book she's ever written...
You looks Wonderful and I'm guilty of the same thing! We are supposed to be able to shed the layers and then we have too much to carry!!
ReplyDeleteI'm new to Elin, I have one of her 'summer' reads and I'm waaaaaaay behind! I'm so envious of your setting. I'll be there, hopefully one day! :)
Jane
How fun! I cannot wait to read her newest book and love her books, have read many but not all...her writing is so engaging and easy.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the bucket list weekend in Jan....how neat to be in Nantucket in the dead of winter, cozy!! Humm....may need to try and plan that.
You are looking mighty stylish, layers and all :)
Laughed out loud at your comment on the layers and sweating (btw, you still looked mahvelous, very classy). I need to go back through your synopses and check her out! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteRita C at Panoply
I remember I remember.......was that REALLY TWO YEARS AGO!
ReplyDeleteWell, I think a visit to Nantucket any day is a good idea. And I love your outfit (although I can see how it might have been a bit warm!) I went to your other posts and the times you had were great. I bought something at Mitchell's when I was there this summer. Now I wish I'd bought Elin's book!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous, Katie, and Nantucket looks picture perfect! Sounds like a fabulous time! I'm always so impressed with authors at their ability to write more than one book with multiple story lines!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought you were wearing your gorgeous cape so that Elin wouldn't be jealous of your buff arms. Looks like a beautiful day on Nantucket - good weather, no crowds!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh- I just borrowed the Blue Bistro to a friend- I simply loved that one. I'm totally jealous that you've spent so much time with her- her writing is just the best! The trilogy sounds wonderful- I'll be saving up for sure for this! What a great photo- and love the humor as well- even though you simply look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteKatie, I've never read any of her books but there seems to be so much interest that I must put them on my ever-growing list!! Of course if it means I'll be hopping over to Nantucket to see her in January that's an added incentive! This resort where she is doing her weekend event is another one I would love to see! Linda
