Renovations and Thrillers

Hello, dear friends.  How goes it?  All is well around here.  It's a bit louder and messier due to Chowdah's arrival.  My #2 is in DC on business, so he is keeping Millie company in the meantime.

They have developed their own routine.

They get up, go outside, eat, and drink.

Millie instigates a round of wrestling that goes on...

and on...

and on.

The fun part is they have their fun within an inch of me.

They then drink more water.

Take a snooze and repeat.

Millie likes to sleep under my recliner in the evening, which has since been referred to as her garage.

Speaking of that, our new chairs are expected to arrive tomorrow.  They will replace the blue and white checked ones that we bought from Amazon last October to hold us over until the new ones come from Calico.

Good news on my office front.  Serena and Lily is having a sitewide sale.   I ordered a console table and mirror.  I ordered my desk from Caitlin Wilsonand my desk chair, which I got on sale from Ballard Designs.

Tomorrow, the carpenter is due to take the bookcases and window seat measurements.

Last week, while driving to the Design Center, Lori and I had a long chat about books.   She mentioned that she enjoys thrillers and asked me to suggest some.  So I decided to share the list with you.  I have linked the books so that you can read the synopsis to see which one appeals to you.

I am listening to The Therapist, and it is very good too.

By the way, if you are a fan of Peter Swanson's, his new one comes out today.

By the way, after perusing the titles of my favorites, I finally understand why the Mister gets a little nervous when I start a new book.  I tell him that a lot of my choices are training manuals.

Please feel free to add your favorites in the comments.
I'd love to hear them.

Until next time...

I would be interested in buying your wingback chairs. I live in Dallas—Lake Highlands North.

  3. I've only read three of these because while I like thrillers I really can only handle them in small doses.

  8. I can't wait to see your reno! I love the chairs you have now so I really can't wait to see the new ones. My kids asked me (when they were young) why my books (before Kindle!) always had blood on the cover.

  10. I always look forward to your posts. It doesn't matter if you're featuring the Pups, the Misters masterful menu items, your beautiful home or your book suggestions...I love them all. Since your friend loves thrillers, one of the best authors of thriller novels is Harlan Coben. He weave the most intricate webs and leaves his readers breathless until the very end. I can't name a favorite, because I've enjoyed everyone one of his books. There are many. I will not start one of his thrillers until I have a whole day to start and read to the end. They are spellbinding.

  11. Katie, I completely rearranged my family room after seeing your room. In amazing news my (first) husband loves it. I should tell him we had it like this a few years back! ;0)
You get the cutest pics of the furry family members! Are you watching Good Girls on Netflix. Oh and I am listening to the therapist!

  12. I didn't know that you could buy upholstered chairs on Amazon!
I love a good thriller, but I find so many are not satisfying for one reason or another.
    Have a great weekend!

  13. Such a fun post! I love the dogs, their play, and your gorgeous house. Those Amazon chairs actually look quite great!!! And your last comment is so funny, because that's what I've said to my own Mr. FrenchGardenHouse many times when he asks why I love a good mystery or thriller. Happy Spring to you. Lidy
