The Friday Files

I hope that you had a good week.  Ours was very wet and cold. A lot of time was spent reading in front of the fireplace and catching up on blog stuff.

Excitement is in the air. We will be attending a shower for our Mother and Father-to-be.  The little one's arrival will be here before we know it.  The time sped by.  I asked the Mother-to-be if she felt the same way.  She answered not so much.

I'm so proud of our #1.  She has only gained 8 pounds!  I gained 45 pounds, and I'm still taking it off.

Do you suffer from sciatica?  If not, you don't know how lucky you are.  My first bout with sciatica occurred with my first pregnancy, and I have battled with it on and off for years.  I call it my pain in the a$$.  I do get relief from a few of these stretches.

I have a few friends who have been struggling with hair loss.  This is a great article encompassing prevention and treating hair loss.

My problem is not hair loss as much as sparse brows.  I began using Grande Brow MD  every night about a month ago, and I see a big difference.  The hairs are popping up grey blonde, but then I just use this every couple of weeks, and all is well in my world.

I began using the Grande Lash MD a couple of weeks ago, and I haven't seen improvement yet.  I'll keep you posted. I also tried their mascara, but I wasn't impressed.

After twelve years of blogging, I have received two consistent questions. Here is the answer to the first one.  No, I did not date Brad after I broke up with George.

The second one pertains to the monogram necklace that I wear.  Readers ask if there is a story attached, the measurements, and its origin.

The Mister traveled for the first three years of marriage. He was working in New Orleans for a four-month stretch.  While he was there, he went into a jewelry store on Magazine Street.  Unfortunately, he can't remember the name of it.  He spotted a monogram pin in the glass case and ordered it for me for Valentine's Day.

I wore it for a couple of years and then tucked it in the back of my jewelry case.

And then, one day, I spotted a certain Real Housewife wearing her monogram on a chain highlighting her enormous cleavage. So I took it to a jeweler, had a hook put on the back of it, and had a chain made.  The jeweler suggested a second eye on the chain so that I could wear it at a couple of lengths. I am so glad he did because that second eye has come in very handy.

Do you have a question for me?  I can't promise that I'll answer it truthfully, but I'll answer it. Drop me an email or leave a comment.

Are you traveling this year?  Here is a list of the 100 Best Hotels in the World.

This is an interesting article on how we are using Artificial Intelligence every day.

Here's a look at what we have been enjoying.

We've been loving Season 2 of Belgravia.

We finished Below Deck. I like Captain Sandy, but I didn't think it was the best season.  The crew, with the exception of Luka, was kind of a mishmash.

We watched this series, and it kept us guessing.
We were shocked at the outcome.

And this one is so much fun!
I smile through the whole show!

This is what we are looking forward to in February.

Trailer

Season 2 is coming out in a couple of weeks.  I am a big fan of Amy Schumer.  Her humor reminds me of our #1.

My favorite curmudgeon is coming back!
Warning: the trailer, as well as the show, is off-color.

I leave you with this sweet story.

  3. I cannot wait for "Feud"! I have been on pins and needles for weeks waiting for it to start! And, yes, I do have a question for you....where did The Mister learn to cook so divinely? Did I read once he was a chef once upon a time? What kind of career did he just retire from?

  6. Sciatica keeps me away many nights. Mine is due to several bulging discs - my PT gave me many of these stretches to do quite a few years ago. Thank you for the reminder to begin doing them again. Funny Woman looks really good!

  7. Always love your suggestions re book/movies/dream homes fashion. Vis-aVis the eyelashes: I had to stop using Latisse after a few years after using it for a few years for a few reasons. I found a great OTC substitute in Neulash. I buy mine at Nordstrom when they have one of their big beauty sales because you get two instead of one. I am happy to say the results are almost as good with no side effects. They tell you that the time for results is about 16 weeks, the same as for Latisse. I really don't think it took quite that long because I didn't wait in between the switch -- I had it ready to go. I have tried other products before using Latisse, and none of them worked. And if this damn autocorrect changes Latisse to the name of the artist, so help me god I am hurling this computer through the wall.

    2. Ellen, first of all, a big congrats on that beautiful grandbaby of yours! Secondly, thanks for the tip on the Neulash. As soon I finish the $tuff I am using, I'm heading to Neulash. Thirdly, I hate auto correct! xx

  8. Where I grew up and where I live now (it is not too far) the necklace is something that we grew up wearing as well. I have a pair of earrings that one of my sisters gave to me for Christmas one year and I purchased a pin that can become a necklace shortly afterwards.
I think your necklace is beautiful and it has meaning--that is the best kind.
