Holiday Hostess Gift Guide

Hello, dear friends.  I hope that you are enjoying your weekend.
I am taking Thanksgiving week off.  I will be spending it with my little chickadees and company.

Before I go, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.

When I count my blessings this year, you all are at the top of my list.  Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read my silly little blog.  I am grateful for all the friends that I have had the opportunity to meet both online as well as in-person.

I hope that you feel as much joy this Thanksgiving as you all have given me.

I'll find any excuse to do some online shopping.  Especially when the Mister is watching a dumb old war movie.

I decided to put my energy towards hostess gift ideas.  I will confirm nor deny that I made some purchases for myself along the way.

Something to brighten up the kitchen is sure to make your hostess welcome you with open arms.

How cute are these salt and pepper shakers?

I like to wrap a pretty kitchen towel with a holiday ribbon around a bottle of wine.  That way nobody will know that I was the one who brought the cheap bottle of wine.

Crate & Barrel

For the hostess who has some eye-catching baubles, a sweet dish to store them.

This wine chiller keeps the bottle cold for 12 hours.
That doesn't mean much to me.
A full bottle of wine has never survived my existence for as long as 12 hours.

Amazon

These little beauties can chill a bottle of vino in a matter of minutes and will keep it cold for hours.

This is a great gift for the hostess entertaining her in-laws.

Macy's

Just in case the bottle starts whining that it's too cold.

Amazon

A beautiful decanter is always an appreciated gift.

I've owned two of these pitchers for years.  Whenever we have a dinner party, I keep one at each end of the table filled with ice water and sliced lemons.

They not only look pretty but they remind my guests to stay hydrated after all that chilled wine.

How about some pretty holiday napkin rings for the hostess?
These are great looking and a good price, btw.

Amazon

Barware, anyone?

Amazon

1. Place wine in the bucket.
2. Tie a pretty ribbon around the bottle.
3. Give to the hostess with a smile.
Done!

Years ago, a good buddy of mine gave me a box of Paperwhite bulbs and a darling plant mister, which I still use.

In Texas, my 'hood had a couple of giving plates that were brought out and passed around every year.

After I moved they were missing one.

If we bring food to a party, I always gift the platter to the hosts.
It's a lot easier making an Irish exit hands-free.

Anything personalized is guaranteed to impress the hostess that you didn't re-gift.

A pitcher is always a nice gift.
I usually present it filled with fresh flowers.
Prepare yourself for some oohs and aahs.

For the hostess that always ends up having the most fun at her own party.

I'm talking to you, KTG!

I love giving and receiving candles.
Ask the Mister.
He even delegated a closet to house my hoarding addiction.
This one is my favorite around the holidays.

It wouldn't hurt to include a warmer.
Especially if the hubby is paranoid that the wife is going to burn the house down, like someone I know.

I wish Hasbro came out with this edition when I was a kid.

If the hostess is throwing a holiday bash, there's a good chance that a newly-released cookbook will be a hit.

Amazon

Take it from me, this is a great book for the empty nester hosts.

Amazon

A sweet holiday story for the hostess who deserves to put her feet up after all her hard work.

Another idea is to give the hostess your favorite book of 2018.
This was mine.

Last but not least, I humbly offer some unsolicited advice.

If you want to be invited back to the party next year...

I'd love to hear your ideas for hostess gifts.

  6. What a fun collection of gifts...You can be a guest at my house anytime! Love all the wine themed ones and I see a few books to add to my list. I think you pretty much covered everything. What is it with those war movies? My husband watches them too but they put me to sleep. Enjoy your week and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

  10. Oh my, that wine glass speaking in cursive and the target sweater are great! So are the others, but I'm easily amused this morning. Have a great week, Katie, and Happy Thanksgiving.

  12. Katie, you are officially invited to my party. Any party. Any time. At the greens market this weekend I found the cutest little tin pails filled with boxwood and ribbons that I'm hoping to keep alive for another week and a Friendsgiving dinner! And for TG I found some cute Christmas bathroom towels with dogs for our dog-loving host!) You always need new Christmas towels!

  13. I WISH I had pals and family who were as thoughtful and clever as you with gifts! I am a sucker for little spoons, and barware. But the sweaters of course take the biscuit. I'd love to wear one to a party just for the reaction haha! Joanne x

  15. But we've just recovered from Thanksgiving. That's what's forced me back to the gym, Sis. Wait. What? OHHHH of course, you're my American Sis. Silly me. Justin was saying just the other day that he'd like to see more Americans up here. When he pops in for a visit I'll be sure to bring out the wine cooler as he never gives me advance warning. And yes, I LOVE the idea of gifting the platter with the food. That's brilliant. Happy American Thanksgiving. I hope you're thoroughly spoiled and that the pants are elasticized.
