Hello, dear friends. I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend. Did you get a lot of trick-or-treaters? It was kind of quiet around our house.
I reminisce every Halloween about the good old days of taking the girls trick-or-treating when they were very young. It was my favorite time because they only wanted to go to a few houses. The best part of it was that they totally forgot about the candy the next day.
Jackpot.
But then, in the later years, my little angels would have screaming, knockdown fights over the coveted M&M's and Reese's Peanutbutter Cups while turning their noses up to the rejects otherwise known as Mounds and Payday.
Saturday morning, we got up bright and early and took a brisk walk. We were rewarded for our efforts with this beautiful sight. I told the Mister that it was a good omen.
Later, the Mister and I hopped in the car and headed to Love Field. We needed to fulfill the last part of our Clear enrollment. I was not looking forward to it between you and me because I thought we would face long lines. I am happy to report that that earlier siting was indeed a good omen, and it took less than 10 minutes, and we were back in the car and headed to lunch.
We decided on The Honor Bar, which makes my favorite salad in the whole world. I posted this pic on Instagram, and I was surprised how many people recognized the Macho Salad. Several people asked me what was in it, so I copied the description from the menu. Here goes: roasted chicken, avocado, dates, toasted almonds, goat cheese, corn. It is served with a fresh mint dressing. The Mister even ordered it, and salads are seldom his choice.
Yesterday, I dropped off Miss Millie at the vet's to get spayed. The tech asked me if I would need to take some sedatives home to keep her calm. I told her that I would back up the car so that she could fill up the trunk.
It was not an easy night. At about 7:20PM, we administered one of those promising sedatives and attempted to tuck Millie in. We discovered that the crate was not large enough to accommodate her newest accessory, the dreaded cone.
Lucky for us, we are within a few miles of four pet stores. I called ahead to see if they had the larger crates in stock, and to our relief, they did. Petco closes at 8PM, so we made a mad dash and got there within minutes of closing. We bought two sizes, and thankfully, one of them worked.
In no time, I crash-landed into our bed and fell asleep. That is, until 1:21PM when Millie had finally had it with the awkward cone. Millie and I moved out to the living room. I slept closed my eyes on the couch for the rest of the night while Millie and her cone meandered around, bumping into furniture whiling away the hours until Alexa turned the lights on at 4AM.
Here she is now catching up on her sleep.I am so freakin' jealous.
When I ordered my Christmas wreaths last month, the shopkeeper told me that she had never seen so many people purchasing this early. I guess they have been listening to the local news like me.
Here are some of my favorite decorations that came across my radar.

Cute hostess gift.
I chose two of these.
It may take a while because the shopkeeper makes them to order.
As long as they're here by Easter, I'm good.
My buddy Mo of the blog Mocadeaux dropped me a note. She hasn't blogged for a few years but I am hopeful for her return.
Can you imagine waking up to a chocolate truffle every morning?
I would want December to last forever!
I am still in search of Karen, one of the winners of The Gobble Book.
Agree with you regarding The Maid, mind-opening.
I would need to invite two people to Thanksgiving, Jan Karon/Mitford Series, and Louise Penny/Gamache Series. Two of my favorite authors. Would love to live in either town and interact with the characters in each.
If I don't hear from Karen by Thursday, another winner will be chosen.
Until next time...
Beautiful wreaths!
ReplyDeleteOmg, I live less than a 5 minute drive from Delysia Choclatier (makers of the Advent Calendar). I have been there and I can tell you, THEY ARE DELICIOUS! So fun to see them pop up in your blog!
ReplyDeleteIf Karen doesn’t show up, pick me! 😆
ReplyDeleteThat puppy! Oh my goodness - I smile everytime you post a photo of her!!!
ReplyDeleteYour sweet puppy. We also need to get our Bella spayed. The salad looks delicious. Such beautiful wreaths. never too early to order. Happy November.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have a single trick-or-treater at our house. :( How wonderful to discover the balloons on your walk! Thanks for all the Christmas decor suggestions. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI RECEIVED FIVE TRICK or TREATERS ALL BEFORE 5pm!
ReplyDeleteBETTY goes in FEB FIRST for HER OPERATION!
OH DEAR.............we don't do the crate thing!
Millie looks so innocent and pretty in the first picture. I know what you mean about sleep though...I simply must have my beauty rest. I miss those days with the kiddos going trick or treat. My grandson really understood it this year and had a blast. It was quite fun to watch. We handed out candy at my daughter's home so they could head down the street with him. Hubby and I were remembering the days when we had such fun. All the wreaths are so pretty. I am going through one of those years when I would almost like to change things up a bit. Not sure this is the year to have those thoughts:)
ReplyDeletePoor Miss Millie! Clear sounds like a good idea since the TSA precheck lines were longer than the regular lines at my last trip to the airport!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful decorations!!
ReplyDeleteI made a comment and I'm a Karen but I didn't think it was me. (?)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the wreath selecctions, I can always rely on you shopping the best for me.
Karen
Yes, please, to chocolate truffles every morning! You boosted my holiday feelings, Katie! I'm not ready to decorate yet, but any of those wreaths would sure look lovely on my door! I enjoyed my visit here!! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Katie !!
ReplyDeleteThe salad looks wonderful !! Great selection on the wreaths !
The salad looks yummy! And I am on a waitlist for one of the Etsy wreaths! That puppy vest!!!! Happy Day! Is it Friday yet? laura
ReplyDeleteThe wreaths are so pretty! I am thinking I need a new one for our front door...just have to decide which one would look the best. The salad looks delicious, what a treat!
ReplyDeleteAwe, sweet Millie and that dreaded cone. Our new Grandog will be sporting one of those real soon as she will be spayed. Ugh! Love everyone of the wreaths but I never have a wreath on our door as it is such an ornate big iron door and I'm afraid it would be too much fuss.
ReplyDeletePoor Millie,
ReplyDeleteSure enjoyed seeing the wreaths. Time for a new one for us. Your girls looked so cute in their Halloween outfits. When my two were young they argued over who got to ring the doorbells.
Enjoy the cooler weather..Janey
I bought the Williamsburg wreath on Etsy last year and I love it! It received lots of compliments!
ReplyDeleteLooking at all the pretty holiday door wreaths release endorphins for me. Based on your recommendation in a blog a few years ago, I purchased a terrific XL Christmas wreath from an Esty seller (it's not easy to find sufficiently large door wreaths). I have since purchased Autumn and Spring wreaths from her too - they arrive in perfect shape.
ReplyDeleteSo many cute wreaths! I love Grandin Road... I hope Millie recovers quickly and can take her cone off soon!
ReplyDeleteJenna
We had over 200 trick or treaters! It was so much fun to see everyone out again and about 50% of the parents dressed up as well! I had to shut the lights off and sit in the dark after 7:15 as I ran out of candy!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Its pleasure to visit here,This blog is good to sharing the information which is useful for many of them.
