Hello, dear friends. It seems like forever since I have written those words. It is wonderful to be back. I have many posts planned. Now all I have to do is write them.
This is the final installment of Hodgepodge. Joyce has come up with the questions for many years and has decided to wrap it up this week. Now I'll never remember what day it is because I could always figure it out by Hodgepodge.
1. What has been the highlight of your summer so far? (It's still summer people!)
Lucky for me, I had more than one highlight.
Sherdog Forums
The first highlight was our cruise.
Feel free to compliment us on our stunning cruise wear.
Uhaul
I also enjoyed spending time with my #2 moving her from Atlanta to her new home, Dallas.
And last, but certainly not least, the cherry on the sundae is our #1's engagement to Adorable Jonathon.
2. What do you wish you'd done more of this summer?
ugly houses
Every Summer, I say that I will do a major purge.
It looks like it may be next Summer.
Less of?
Packing and unpacking.
To put it mildly, I tend to overpack.
This is the receipt for my luggage for the cruise.
I thought the Mister was going to have a stroke.
3. Something you're looking forward to on your September calendar?
4. Best/favorite book you've read this summer?
I have a September Books post coming your way.
The following were my top three.
I never wanted this book to end.
Entertaining as well as informative.
I thought this book was a delight.
I recommended it to #1, and she enjoyed it as well.
5. Share something positive, encouraging, or uplifting here.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I found this pillow in a darling store on the Cape.
Don't tell the girls but they are each getting one for Christmas!
I can hardly wait to see how thrilled they're going to be!
Until next time...

So glad you are back and as adorable as ever! Congrats to your beautiful daughter!
ReplyDeleteYay! Congrats to your daughter on her engagement! I missed where you guys went on your cruise, but where ever it was, I'm sure it was relaxing and wonderful! I actually got some purging in the last two weeks and it has been so FREEING!! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to have you back. You always put a smile on my face!
ReplyDeleteErma Bombeck was a wiz with words. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteI am happy to read your hodgepodge. You are going to have to find a similar thing to do, because I knew I would always get a midweek chuckle. I am sure Joyce is just tired of coming up with questions though.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear all about summer.
You made me laugh with your comment about figuring out what day it is by the Hodgepodge! That is us, too. Without the memes/hops to be our guide, we don't know what day it is. haha
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your beautiful daughter and her beloved. :)
Purges are no fun, especially when you turn your back for a moment, and somebody re-fills the space you just cleared out!
haha I'm glad your Mister didn't have a stroke!
I would have seized the moment and gone for the cake. :)
I love that pillow! It is great!
That is a cute puppy. Have a blessed day!
Love that pillow!! I'll take five, please!! So happy about your daughter and Adorable Jonathan!! Looks like you had a great cruise. I'd love to do a European river cruise. I'll check on that first book you named. What a recommendation!! Last but not least, I'm still laughing over the Erma Bombeck quote.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wedding Planning! Such an exciting time in a family!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie! Welcome Home! I love Daughter #1's tshirt! The baggage weight is hysterical. Hey, if you can close it you can ship it! laura
ReplyDeleteI'm an over packer too! Every time I get to the airport I am sweating as I check my suitcase...I go to curbside check in and always have my wallet out with some money kind of sticking out...that seems to do the trick! I always start with the best intentions and then I'm let's see if I can cram one more black sweater in.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the black sweaters (and pants, too)! Enjoy your weekend, Barbara!
DeleteWelcome home, Sis. Can you please share the source of your stunning cruise wear? Also, how on earth did you get that pic of my living room? I'd recognize that ceiling fan anywhere ...
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
ReplyDeleteOh, I've missed you and your humor sooooo much! I love to purge and seem to do it quite frequently. I have a load right now to carry to a local thrift store. They smile when they see me drive up as they know I always have good/like new stuff for them. :o)) I'm about to pack for our Va. trip and my Hubby will probably have a stroke as well. I have never been a "less is more" kind of gal, I'm more, more is more, kind of gal. Again, welcome back!!!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I always get such a good chuckle from your posts and now the podge is ending. Boohoo. I bought a tea towel that said that same thing for our daughters Christmas stocking! Did you wear everything in that suitcase on your cruise? Congrats on the engagement. Love those t-shirts!
ReplyDeleteEllen... don't tell the Mister but I wore about 40%. The rest of the stuff I never liked in the first place!
DeleteWelcome back - can't wait to see all the posts you have up your sleeve. I have How to Walk Away from the library right, and look forward to reading it.

I haven't read Sam Hell yet, but its on my list. I did read How To Walk Away and liked it. I look forward to following along with the wedding plans. Have they set a date? We are in the thick of it here (mine gets married in April) and I love this season and all the fun planning. Enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to end the Hodgepodge! You had a great summer and have an exciting time coming up with the wedding plans. Could those two be any cuter?...love the shirts! Thanks for the book recommendations. You always pick some great ones. I had to laugh because I ALWAYS over-pack. My husband lectures me on every trip. Love the pillow!
ReplyDeleteShelley
So THAT's what you've been doing and where you've been! Busy summer, indeed! Your witty and clever answers always crack me up and I will most definitely miss them and the Hodgepodge. What we gonna do now?? I absolutely LOVE the pillow! Enjoy what is left of the summer!
ReplyDeleteI just realized I had your #1 and #2 mixed up when commenting on your TTT post last week! My apologies, but all those aliases, it's hard to keep you gals straight! What a great summer you've had. Hehe, I think maybe I should get those pillows too, I'm sure my girls would love them also....probably enough to let their dogs 'play' with them, and we know how that story ends.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, it's good to hear from your again. You may have to deliver your own Hodgepodge to keep that witty charm sharp!
Congratulations! Planning a wedding!
ReplyDeleteI confess, I'll miss Hodgepodge...I laughed out lout every time I read this light hearted post.
Enjoy the rest of your summer. I'm happy you're back.

Missed you here Katie! Just in time for you to say goodby. You sure had a whirlwind of a summer with so many special events. LOL, your overpacking sounds like Jim and me. He went out and purchased a hand held scale so he can weigh my bags!!!! So happy to see Johnathon will be a regular :) Have a wonderful weekend........
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Katie! I'll miss Hodgepodge, but at least I won't be missing you anymore! Love that pillow cover and can't wait for your book reviews!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Hodgepodge will be missed. What an exciting summer. Oh the stories I could tell about overweight luggage ... my Mister has a carry-on only rule but occasionally makes exceptions. So excited about #1’s engagement. I look forward to tagging along for the ride! #MOB
