I love the season of Autumn for many reasons. I love the change of colors, the crisp air, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes always make me smile. But the thing I relish the most about this delicious season is the new line up of TV Shows. I just heard someone out there in blogland whisper "really?"
Yup, really. Here are my top 3 new TV shows that I look forward to every week.
Drum roll, please.
The family of a doctor is taken hostage by a team led by a rogue FBI agent the night before she is scheduled to perform surgery on the President of the United States. She is ordered by the kidnappers to assassinate the President during surgery in order to save her family.
I programmed my dvr for a series recording after watching the first 15 minutes of the premiere of Hostages. This show has not disappointed me. It is chock full of twists and turns and laced with just enough sexual chemistry to make it my number one priority of TV watching on Monday nights.
Good bye Real Housewives... hello Hostages.
Former government agent Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) has eluded capture for decades. But he suddenly surrenders to the FBI with an offer to help catch a terrorist under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone), a young FBI profiler who's just barely out of Quantico.
My bet is James Spader is going to win an Emmy for his role in Blacklist. Every week there is one more clue to who Red's true identity is and the key to why he is so enthralled with the young FBI agent.
Blacklist is so fast paced and cleverly written I find myself holding my breath in some scenes.
James Spader gives Hanibal Lechter a run for his money when it comes to the creep factor.
This show is disturbing as well as entertaining. I recommend taping it and watching it during the daytime. It's too scary to watch before bed. Or at least it is for me...
The series stars Hannah Ware as Sara Hanley, a beautiful photographer, who begins an affair with Jack McAllister, a lawyer for a powerful family, played by Stuart Townsend. Both unhappily married to other people, Jack and Sara find themselves drawn to one another. The premise also revolves around a murder trial, which involves both of them on separate sides which makes things even more complicated.
Alright, I'll admit it. It's a little bit trashy. But it's good trashy. The plot is fairly good with some believable sub-plots. But I think the thing that draws me to Betrayal is that fact that everyone is so darn gorgeous. Both men and women. The lead, who plays Jack McAllister, was Charlize Theron's live-in love for years. Come on, he's got to be an Adonis to be with her.
Anyway, I suggest if you want to relax and escape your problems - indulge yourself on this naughty, juicy, little show.
Don't get hooked though. Seems that I'm one of the few who can't live without it. The ratings are less than stellar on this one.
Hope your weekend was filled with romance and intrigue!
I think I heard that Hostages might be going too. Some shows take a little bit to catch on. Blacklist seems to be a real hit, and we like it as much as you do. Might have to take another look at Betrayal on your recommendation. It seemed to hit a slow period and we lost interest. Thanks for the recommendations.
ReplyDeletegreat choices.
ReplyDeleteHostages is a new favorite at our house! :O)
ReplyDeleteWill have to check these out. Blacklist looks really good. Just forget to watch.
ReplyDeleteHey good trashy can be innocent fun unlike the intellectual caliber of the RH on Bravo..lol. Hey its all good. I am so out of the loop with new shows, it makes my head spin there are so many!
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge TV watcher, but I am loving The Blacklist. James Spader is amazing. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteMy daughter's and I have been watching Hostages since the beginning and I'm actually starting to lose interest. It is a great show, but I have become so frustrated with the doctor. She has had ample opportunities to get help and each time she continues to follow Dylan McDermott's (we are all inlove with him, bad guy or not) instructions. We're still trying to hang in there, though. I haven't seen the other two shows yet.
ReplyDeleteit looks like you have too much time on your hands ... LOL LOVE YA GURL!!! -#1
ReplyDeleteI've heard so much about Blacklist but must admit I have a hard time getting into new shows. You have definitely increased my desire however to try again!!
ReplyDeleteKatie,
ReplyDeleteI too like those shows but have given up Hostages to enjoy Blacklist. I think I've figured out the connection between Red and Liz, have you? Now, this may sound creepy and weird but I'm going to tell you my secret obsession wich won't be a secret now! My favorite show of all is the Walking Dead! Yea, it's kind of gory but after a while, that's not a big deal. It's the relationship between all the people that's really fascinating, also the fact that it's filmed around Atlanta is fun. I got hooked on a marathon weekend 2 seasons ago when there was nothing else on. Sunday, it made me sad, one of my favorite people was sent away cuz of something she did that was unacceptable in one respect but rationalized to be ok in another! Oh well, maybe she'll be back if she survives being out in Zombie land alone!
