Southern Girls

I didn't end up teaching Gypsy her new trick.  Instead, the Mister and I spent the weekend in Lexington, Virginia visiting our #2 and attending Parents Weekend.  Gypsy stayed with her big sista, #1, and I sent her the instructional video for her consideration.

Several weeks ago, my #2 called me from college.  There was excitement in her voice.  She told me that a new store opened in town and I was going to "literally die" when I see it.  Breathlessly, she told me it is a home accessory store furnished with everything that will make my heart go pitter patter.

My girls know their old Mom pretty well.  She was spot on - my heart skipped a beat as I browsed this exquisite store of lovely things.

Southern Girls is owned and operated by Susan Moffet and her mother, Janice Chappelle.  I had the pleasure of meeting Susan, her husband and darling daughter.  Susan was kind enough to allow me to snap some photos to share with you.

Southern Girls .... you had me at your darling storefront!

#2 chatting it up with Susan's daughter.

I really wanted this adorable apple wreath, but the Mister said it wouldn't fit into my suitcase.  It would if I threw his stuff out!

Lovin' this chair and its pleats.

That painting of the cow is headed to my new house.  The Mister just doesn't know it yet!!

These are maps that are framed and I love the way they are hung.  So eye-catching.

The Mister owns thousands of dollars worth of equipment that enables people to hang things evenly and straight. Between you and me... nothing helps.

These are all brass hands.  I wanted to get the one with the outstretched palm to remind us of our girls who tend to beg ask for money quite frequently!!

Great color scheme!!

No truer words have been said...

Fabulous artwork!!

I could live in this store!

Susan had samples of the peanuts at the register.  Let's just say I walked by quite a few times...

#2 positively fell in love with this headboard made from an antique mantel.  When she asked for the price, Susan told her it wasn't for sale.  I heard a sigh of relief from the Mister over in the corner.

Sumptuous pillows and rugs.

These light fixtures were hung over the register and the yummy peanuts.  They are antiques and were used at one time for olive picking.

Susan and her sweet family.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit Lexington, stop by Southern Girls and feast your eyes on all the darling accessories for the home.  And don't forget to try the peanuts!!

May your day be filled with unique, lovely things!!

  3. My kind of store, I would love to go there sometime! You would have room in your suitcase for the apple wreath if you did one of 2 things 1) have your own suitcase...I never share with my husband or 2) buy an extra suitcase for all the wonderful things in the store!
