Sweatah Weathah

I hope that you had a good week.  Ours was busy and looked a lot like this.  We are doing a little refresh on our kitchen.  It's going to be a 4 to 5-day process.  We are replacing the countertops, backsplash, sink, faucet, and hardware.

It was either the kitchen or a facelift.
The Mister flipped a coin.
The kitchen won.
I told him he was too old for elective surgery, anyway.

A couple of things are on my mind.  We didn't get much sleep on Tuesday night.  Why do smoke detector batteries run out of juice only after midnight?  They must be nocturnal.  We've had eight homes in the span of 30-plus years, and not once has the detector started beeping during the day.

Needless to say, the Mister and I were very grumpy on Wednesday due to the chirping and the restless dog syndrome.

The election cannot come soon enough.

One ad after another is a boring political ad.

I pine for my beloved Progressive commercials.

I miss Dr. Rick.

I miss Flo and the gang.

And how about the Subaru commercials that never fail to make me smile?

I knew who I would vote for the minute the candidates threw their hats in the ring.

No ads will change my mind.

However, I could be persuaded that Flo and Jon are truly in love.

The Mister ordered this sweatshirt for me.  He gives me a hard time because I am constantly freezing.  I think that is why I love sweaters.  I never go out without one - even in the Summer.  The restaurants usually have their A/C set on frostbite.

I think that is why I like sweaters so much.

They keep me warm and hide my bulges.

It's like wearing a warm hug.

Maybe that should be a sweatshirt slogan.

I have these crewneck sweaters in lots of colors.
They're not bulky under a blazer.

My favorite sweatshirts.

I love turtlenecks because they camouflage my double chin.
Or should I say chins?

I also love long ones with a forgiving slit.

Love the feminine neckline.

I love this!
I might wear a shirt under it, though.
Several colors.

Cashmere and lots of colors.

I have two of these and love them.

I am working on incorporating more color into my winter wardrobe.  Right now, my closet is a sea of black and grey.

I love me a cute poncho!

You know you're skinny when you can wear a sweater tucked into your pants.
I should know; I haven't done it in forty years.

#1 has this in every color.
Thank goodness she left that facial expression back with her teen years.

This sweater is trending in the blog world.

It comes in lots of colors.

  4. I love sweater weather - and it certainly arrived in NY quicker than expected! NO, NO to the turtleneck as they can make your boobs look like they are down around your waist!!! LOL

  7. I love all the sweaters! Unfortunately in North Carolina sweater season is very short. And I feel ya about the smoke detector batteries. They never fail to start beeping in the middle of the night and drive us and the dog nuts.

Katie, Im Dana S. I’m the reader who also has a dog named Milly and my Mr. and I were moving back to Dallas from Minneapolis at same time you and your Mr. moved from New England.
I’m still following along-always fun to get a post.
Ha! I may choose to wear a shirt under the JCrew Odette sweater or just throw caution to the wind and alarm my neighbors and family🤔

  9. I have that cable knit turtleneck sweater from Amazon and I just love it! In fact I have it on my wishlist in that purple color. I have said the same thing about the smoke detectors; they only ever malfunction at night!

  10. So many cute sweaters, temps are dipping here too and I know what you mean, I'm always freezing! Winter is not my friend!

  11. Katie, I howled out loud at your elective surgery about your husband. You are a hoot!
And I love that gift your hubs got - oh my word do I understand - I am always freezing.
And my Italian hubs is always warm. So the house is very cold all year and he sits there with his sleeveless undershirt and boxer jammie short bottoms and barefeet and I sit with a space heater, 4 layers, socks, and even sometimes a hat in winter. He's been seen going to get the mail at end of our long drive in barefeet in the snow. Kid you not.
I think I need that sweatshirt too lol.

    1. Michele... I get it. The Mister is never cold. If I got a dollar for every time I ask him "aren't you cold?" I would be a very rich woman. Have a great week.

  12. Hahaha - another fabulously entertaining post Katie! I would order myself that 'I'm always cold' sweatshirt, but then I couldn't get it off fast enough when a hot flash decended! 🤣 It's easy-on-and-off cardigans for me these days - I mean these years! Can't imagine why your Mr didn't want a facelift, but your kitchen's going to look great! Hope you have a lovely weekend, and thanks for the laugh this morning!

  17. Katie,
You are too funny. I love your sense of humor. It helps to keep everything light.
Good luck with your kitchen remodel. We went through a major kitchen remodel and a even more major master bathroom remodel it was a challenging time in our lives. The master bathroom shower tiles were not installed correctly and the whole thing had to be ripped out. We were not happy to say the least. Once it was installed correctly everything turned out lovely. Our master bathroom looks like a spa. We had it done several years ago. I wish you smooth sailing with your kitchen. No face lifts, good for you. :)
I so agree with you about the nonstop political ads they are so annoying. We too know who we are going to vote for.
I'm new to your blog, where are you located?

    1. Welcome to my blog! Just as a head's up - I'm better some days than others so hang in there with me. We live in the northern burbs of Dallas. The Mister won't like your comment about your dreamy master bath. He's going to say "don't give her any ideas." So glad your reno turned out beautifully. Have a great week!

  19. Just entered a comment, but it disappeared! Oh well. Great post, great humor!
I too miss the regular commercials! Lol! Let's get this voting done! But of course there's a lull, then before we know it, we're right back in the political soup again.
Love your choices of sweaters. I always wear one or a jacket; year round too.
Can't wear wool and don't wear turtlenecks, but you list so many choices!

I have the I am cold 24/7 in a long sleeve t-shirt that I wore this summer. I had 3 husbands point at my tshirt for their wives. Trust me there was nothing on my shirt to point out. I saw the sweatshirt!

  27. I'm getting caught up on my Katie posts today. The reason fire detector batteries chirp at night is because the temperature in the home drops & they are more sensitive to cold. At least that's what I've been told.
The Dr. Rick commercials might be my favorite of all time. "We don't need a coat chair."
