About Last Week...

I hope that you had a good week.  My week's highlights consisted of one mammogram and the re-filling of two cavities.

But enough with my bragging.

As many of you know, I was MIA last week.  I couldn't tell you ahead of time because I didn't want to tip off the paparazzi.  What can I say, folks?  It's a neverending battle.

The Mister and I snuck away for a little not-so-romantic getaway to Cabo.  We had never been there before.  And we almost ended up not going.  The Mister pulled out his back the day before our departure.  He was in a lot of pain.  I tried to get him to reschedule, but Stubborn Stanley would not have it.  He said it would be better in a couple of days.  By the way, he is still in pain after getting back to civilization and seeing a doctor and an Acupuncture/reflexologist.

The upside is that the Mister is very vocal about his pain and keeps me posted on every ache and pain.

Don't push that delete button yet!
I promise it gets better.

The hotel's SUV picked us up at the airport and delivered us to our destination, Las Ventanas Al Paraiso.  We were greeted with a trio of smiles and a foaming tequila shot.  I gave mine to the Mister with the hope that it would alleviate the pain as well as his vocal medical play-by-plays.

One of the staff escorted us to our beautiful suite.

That gorgeous headboard is part of the wall.
I know that because I wanted to see if it would fit in my suitcase.
Do you see that plate of tarts?
We came back from the pool every day, and some new scrumptious tarts were waiting for us.
Did you know that complimentary treats are calorie-free?
Yup, you heard it here first, folks.

The Mister and I had separate vanities.
Halleluiah!
He had plenty of room for his arsenal of Icy Hot, Ben Gay, Salonpas, KT Tape, Advil, and Doan's.

I didn't need my brand-new makeup mirror, after all.

We had a gorgeous patio where we started our day with coffee and ended it with a glass of vino.  We went to sleep to the sound of the waves.

Room with a view.

We then headed for a little lunch.

Our appetizers arrived while the Mister attempted to fill the girls on his brave journey.
For some reason, they didn't pick up.

The food and service were beyond exemplary throughout our entire stay.

Can you tell he's biting the bullet?

There are several magnificent pools on the property.
When I zeroed in on this Adults Only sign, I knew we had found our home away from home.

The hotel had an entire staff of charming people who were in charge of bringing refreshments and umbrella choreography.  The minute the slightest ray of sunshine hit my practically 40-year-old alabaster skin, a strong young man would be over to strategically move the umbrella.

Our ice bucket was replenished constantly.
We had a call button but never needed it because a staff member constantly checked on us.

I told the Mister that I think we need a button at home.
Sometimes the Mister can't hear me when I need something.
He rolled his eyes and popped another Doan's.

Btw... this face spray is a game-changer.

The best of both worlds...
a pool and the ocean.

As I peruse these pics, it looks like we were the only guests.
The beauty of this resort is that it is so spread out and has several pools.

Towels were presented with bougainvillea buds.

The first night we had dinner, we were treated to a tequila shot, otherwise known as the Mister's elixir.

I am never leaving.
We can sell the house from here.

I was in heaven with all the blue and white!

I knew it was only a matter of time before the paparazzi arrived.

I'm still not leaving.
The kids and the dogs will never miss us.

This is the wine that was served at #1 AJ's wedding.

We toasted the Newlyweds.
Our second toast was one down, one to go!

He made it!

There were 2 evenings of fireworks.
Thanks for blowing my cover, paparazzi!

If you are looking to get away to a heavenly place with a staff that will spoil you to pieces, I highly recommend Las Ventanas al Paraiso.

We left with great memories, an extra ten pounds, and a bottle of the Mister's elixir.
By the way, the call button is not complimentary.
I found out the hard way.

  1. What a wonderful experience--except for the pain and suffering of your other half. I have not been to Cabo in years but we loved it there. The food and the ocean, etc., and all that goes with it. I would LOVE one of those 'call' buttons! I think you should see if you can find a deal on them and resell them! Have a wonderful weekend, my friend. xo Diana

  11. I just don't understand.....my summons to help carry your baggage, etc. must have gotten muddled among the technology mumble-jumble, and /or gotten lost in the mail! Your trip looks and sounds wonderful. If you weren't able to procure the headboard, I would have tried for the beautiful chest at the foot of the bed. Again, I could have carried it back for you.....just sayin'. Looking forward to more your great blogs and updates!!!! They make me smile every time! Best, Nancee

  31. Annie G here. As I sit here viewing this post on a very gloomy rainy day, I am so jealous. The travel wardrobe for both you and the mister are stunning. The blue and white pottery would have accidentally fallen into my suitcase. What a great vacation!
