The Good, Bad, & Ugly of Quarantine

Hello, dear friends.  I hope that you and your family are doing well.  Friday just doesn't seem like Friday anymore.  We had a "first" this week.  We used Instacart for our groceries.  It worked out great for us. Have you tried it?

Here is a rundown of our family life in quarantine.

Family time!

No Spanx!

Amazon
No tough decisions as to what to wear.
This pretty much describes my Quarantine uniform.

bored panda

Here's a beauty tip that I just discovered.
The more distracting the face mask, the less people notice double chins.

The Mister is in his glory cooking for our guests.

Friday nights are our designated appetizer nights.
Lucky for me, Fridays coincide with my WW cheat day.

Our girl even made salmon one night.

We facetime our #2 at dinner every night.

The Mister has been a busy bee with his household upkeep chores.  He has regrouted our walk, painted the bulkhead, and cleaned all of our chandeliers and lighting fixtures.
And that was just this morning.

Btw... this product works wonders, and it's so easy to use.

For the past 20 years, the Mister's alarm has been set for 4:00 AM on weekdays so that he can work out.  Since his furlough,
we sleep in until 6:00AM.
I'm waiting for those extra hours of beauty sleep to kick in.

Amazon

I have lots of quality reading time.
This is my first 5-star read of the quarantine.

Virtual Happy Hours with the Adorables!
Btw, Adorable Michael reset his background to a picture of our house and then asked us why we weren't answering the doorbell.

We would never have given Outlander a chance if it weren't for all the time we had on our hands.
It doesn't hurt that it also offers some teachable moments for the Mister.

Wine and grocery deliveries!!!
We used Instacart this week, and it worked out great.

I love checking out all the stars' homes in the background.

At times, the National News is very entertaining.

Missing my Dallas girl.

For the most part, the National News is terrifying.

Toilet paper hoarders!

I miss going to restaurants.

Within a half-hour of the breaking news naming another symptom of the virus, I soon develop it.
It's not easy being a hypochondriac!

The Mister is not a vain man.
Correction:  the Mister was not a vain man.
Now that he has grown a beard, he cannot pass a mirror without stealing a glance.

My acrylic nails are a disaster.
I'm afraid of removing them.
I haven't seen my real nails in fifteen years.
Lucky for me, gloves are back in vogue.

Although I had a good stash of root stuff, my hair is still a mess.

I've had recurring nightmares of attempting to put on a pair of jeans.

My buddy, Kathy, sent this to me.
This is how I feel every day of my life.

I would love to hear your thoughts on quarantine.

Be well.

  1. Oh my that video has me in stitches. That sounds like something I would do! It is about the same here Katie. I actually got up this morning and put on some mascara and blush only but for the first time in I don't know when. I think I just wanted to make sure I knew how. I can really only take so much news. Hubby turns it on and I go behind him and turn it off. It just makes me nervous. Take care! I will say I might continue ordering groceries.

  2. Thank you for entertainment my friend!

  3. Katie, I have quit watching the news. As an old nurse, I think they are grasping at straws over so many things right now. Time will tell what works and does not. I dont think being huddled up in our homes every spring and fall is a way I want to live. I was just in my hometown and they are out and about helping the tornado victims. Most wear masks and so far so good. Everyone is making fun of Gov Kemp but we will see what happens. I have a hair appt on May 4th and I cannot wait....pedicure will be next in line and I will feel like a new woman.

  4. I loved this! And the video clip was the cherry on top!! What a hoot!! We, too, have used online grocery ordering. Could get to be a habit! lol! Have a wonderful weekend!

  5. I was OK until week 6 and then i started to get sad, cranky and bored! I have baked too much, eaten too much, sat on my butt watching TV too much, I found out what my real hair color is, ....and I miss shopping terribly (and I think Macy's misses me). This better change soon!!

  6. If my hubby could cook like yours I wouldn't care about not going out to a restaurant! All of that food looks delicious! I don't watch the news and scroll past the idiotic stuff on Facebook. Florida is beginning to reboot a bit. It is time but I hope people are still careful and use some common sense.

  7. I love your good, bad and ugly. Your ugly is my ugly. The nails never were good but the roots now have taken quite a growing spurt. Note to self: Clairol root cover! The rest of it is OK. We haven't killed each other yet. That's always a plus.

  8. OMG- Laughing about the glasses! That is something that would happen to me. lol
I finally bit the bullet and no longer have salon gel nails. It is horrible but I had to do it. sigh....My hands ages 10 years in one afternoon....lol

We've been watching series, too. Watched Rectify and binged on it.A few 'bad' parts but otherwise very good (I thought).

Missing my kids and grands, too. Stay Safe. Diana

  9. I'm so jealous of your hubby's cooking. Looks delicious! I also loved the Mother-in-law, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Love the nightly facetiming. I've done lots of grocery pick up, but haven't tried instacart. Wish I were up in Dallas to drop off a care package for your daughter. :)

  10. That video!

I get envious every time I see one of the Mr. Mister’s meals. Also envious that number #1 gets to learn from a pro.

It sounds like all of you are making the most of your time together during the quarantine. Making memories.

  11. Well, since I'm a major hypochondriac, you can guess how I'm doing these days! Glad to see you are making the best of your time at home. How lucky that you got instacart!! I had them deliver once and have been trying to get on the schedule for the past two weeks since then. They are ALWAYS booked! Ugh... Hope you stay safe and healthy!

  12. I swear I have worn the same leggings and shirt (washed each night) for a month. The hubs keeps giving me the side eye. As for hypochondria, I’m totally a crazed chick waiting for the inevitable. I keep a thermometer by my side of the bed and the damn thing keeps registering normal temps. Ken has kindly offered to take my temp the “other” way but I haven’t totally lost my mind...yet. Stay well and keep me laughing. Hugs but not hugs, Linda

  13. Honestly, our schedule is not too far off from BC (before COVID, not to be confused with before children), EXCEPT for not eating out. I am a cooking and baking fool. We decided against Instacart when a local niece had a disastrous experience early on, but I've done clicklist 4x now. My hair is the ugliest. Ain't no amount of root touch up gonna hide that, especially with all the wind we've had lately! Your Mister is certainly industrious, making all those chandeliers and light fixtures all sparkly, wow! Have a good weekend.

  14. I think everyone is having the same before and after. We loved dining out and miss it and everyday I hear "the wine is almost out" and oh the root problem. I do have touch-up thank goodness but I need the hair salon terribly. We've ordered since the beginning of quarantine with Instacart and love it. Bless them! Well, keep your entertaining posts coming, much needed now! Stay safe and boy do we miss the kids........

  15. Your grocery delivery from Instacart for four looks like my grocery delivery for one. I did get into my jeans, which was such a shock I was forced to down a bag of potato chips to bring me back to consciousness. You are so lucky to have family with you. xo Laura

  16. That video is hilarious.Okay the Mister needs a cooking segment on the blog. The top dish looks amazing. We may need Instacart because I get so creeped out walking around with everyone in masks. My hubs said it looks like we are all zombies. I loe that you FT time dinner with daughter #2. Guess what today is? Eight months until Christmas! ;0) laura

  17. 🤣🤣🤣 The glasses woman is adorable! Video is too cute. Stop watching CNN. Katie, who needs to go to restaurants when you have a darling husband who is a gourmet cook? 💚💚💚 the facial hair he's sporting. Dashing! Stay well, stay fabulous! xo

  18. The mister and I are dealing, but I miss face-to-face contact with my family and friends. I think it would be fun to have one of our sons and their wife and kids staying with us. You're lucky. It seems like it would be more like a party having kids to entertain and enjoy.
    Great post.

  20. Well, one thing for sure, you all have eaten really well. That food looks amazing! And, my hair, well, it's a bush for sure. I took the dip off my nails and am using the nail polish stickers and they are working really well. Surely this will end SOON!

  21. It looks like you guys are making the most of your time at home! The video of the glasses has just made my day! So funny.
You have such a beautiful home. x #MMBC

  22. Such fun your daughter and hubby can be with you! I Love the idea of designating Fridays as appetizer night!! You're so lucky you can get wine delivered, we can't do that in Alabama...lucky me, my son keeps me stocked! No hardships here, I'm happily enjoying being at the beach and watching the boats go by... I know your pooches are happy you are all at home!

  23. Wow! Dining at your house is like eating in a restaurant. And your husband finished more home projects in the past month than my husband finished in the past year!

  24. #1's hair looks fabulous as does the Mr.'s beard. I vote for him keeping it. The meals look amazing, I am adopting the concept of Friday night as appetizer night. Chow's hair looks better than mine.

Would love to know the menu's.

  26. Oh that video is hilarious!! Made me laugh! I've been doing the same thing with celebrity videos, checking out the background to see how they decorate! There are so many different designs out there, makes me feel better about my own! :)

  27. The video of the lost glasses is my life right now. I lose everything lately...on a zoom meeting with my students I had another screen showing on my end, but the students could see me. My glasses were on top of my head (headband style). I couldn't read the screen to them and I was apologizing because I had misplaced my glasses. I was telling them I can't find my glasses to read. They were laughing when finally one of them said, "Miss, they are on your head." The list of lost and found items in my home is unbelievable. Hubster has begun a lost and found section in the house.

  30. This is fabulous. We used Instacart but I felt guilty sending someone to the store to look for hard to find stuff. I've done it sense then. I wondered what people were doing about their acrylic nails. I'd love a haircut. I've always colored mine myself so that's not a problem. I loved reading how you are coping with our current situation.
