A Great Day with Kelly Corrigan & Friends & a Giveaway!

Happy Fat Tuesday, y'all!  I had a most wonderful weekend.  I was going to put it all into one post, but I took so many pics I split it into two.

The Mister prepared a most sumptuous breakfast for Sista, BIL, and moi on Sunday morning.  I love when we have guests because that means I'm going to be treated the way I am accustomed.

After breakfast, Sista and I were off to Kelly Corrigan's reading of her new book, Glitter and Glue.  Anyone who has read this blog for awhile knows that I love Kelly Corrigan's books and videos.  If you have missed my gushing posts, you can find them here, here, and here.  Lucky for me, Kelly doesn't read my blog... she'd probably put a restraining order out one me!

So anyway, the Mister and BIL split up and they went their way and Sista and I ran into a couple of the shops before the reading was to begin.  We were there for about five minutes when Sista got a text from BIL reporting that he just met Kelly in Barnes and Noble.  Like the speed of lightening we sprinted across the busy parking lot to B&N!  I don't think I have run that fast since I was 7 years old.

Before we knew it, we were face-to-face with Kelly.  Obviously, she knew we were looking for her and introduced herself to us.  Like she needed to do that!  She could not have been sweeter.

We then joined Kelly (yeah, she told me to call her that) at Talbots where she was scheduled to do the reading and a meet and greet.  I guess I am not alone in Kelly's fan club.  The place was packed.

See the cute girl with the red scarf on her phone?  That's Amy and we met her afterwards.  She drove from Maine to hear Kelly's reading.  She told us that she, like Kelly, is a breast cancer survivor and has two small daughters.  She said that after she fought breast cancer, she made a lot of important decisions.  Amy and her husband decided to move to a quiet town in Maine and she decided to quit her powerful job and stay home to spend time with her girls.  Amy said she is not as uptight about the little things in life such as washing her kitchen floor every day.  Amen Sister!
Amy - if you're reading this it was an absolute pleasure to meet you and I hope that our paths cross again some day!

When I didn't think my day could possible get better, these lovely ladies came up and introduced themselves and told me that they read my blog.  That has never happened to me before.  What a thrill!  Glad to meet someone that actually reads my posts without being threatened to do so!

Anyway, these wonderful ladies are Megan and Allison.  You know how you meet someone and you immediately hit it off?  That was how it was with these ladies.  Sista and I even made a lunch date when it gets warmer and the words "weather permitting" are not included in the plans.

Talbots really put on a beautiful spread. Also, Sista and I were extremely impressed with their Spring line. We will definitely be back to do some serious shopping.

Kelly with our two new besties, Allison and Megan.  Btw... Kelly is wearing the most adorable dress and signature necklace by none other than ... Talbots.

A rose between two thorns.

I loved hearing Kelly read her own words.

Kelly imitating her Mom's BRF (Bitchy Resting Face).  If you want to understand the joke, you have to read the book.

Kelly did a lot of ad-libbing as well as taking questions from the audience.  It was obvious that the ladies were totally charmed by her great insight and wit.

It was a perfectly delightful day.  I met my favorite author, spent time with Sista, and made some new friends.
Life is good in Preppy Empty Nesterland.

And here's the best news.  I bought an autographed copy of Glitter and Glue for a giveaway.  It starts at noon today and ends on Thursday at 6PM.  All you have to do to enter is "like" me on Facebook and  leave a comment.  Any comment - good or bad.  Although if you leave a  bad one, I'll throw your name out of the drawing.  Kidding. not really.

Happy Fat Tuesday!
