House Notes & Pillow Talk

Hello, dear friends.

Long time no chat.

This post is jam-packed with useless information pertaining to moi.

I got my second vaccine!

I did have a reaction.  One thing that I experienced was that I didn't sleep at all.  It felt like I drank a carafe of coffee.  I also developed a mild fever and felt aches and pains that lasted until the end of the second day.  I didn't mind, though, because I knew that I held my ticket to freedom.

As a side note, the Mister and my #2 had no reaction at all.

My #1 and Adorable Jonathon haven't had their second shot yet.

I spent the majority of last week at our internetless house waiting for this guy to show up.  I got stood up four days in a row. It brought me back to my dating days.

Hopefully, we'll have better luck this week with AT&T.

We lucked out with our floor guys.  They were prompt and professional.  They are scheduled to finish up the job on Tuesday.

Zedge

Next up is our evasive painter that doesn't like to be tied down by a schedule.

Meanwhile, I enjoyed my first lunch at the house.  I also learned how to use a hotspot to get online. It's slow as molasses, but it's better than nothing.

I also worked on some curtains for these windows.

I could not have done it without my lazy trusted assistant.

The TV was installed, thanks to the Amazon tech.  We also received our furniture delivery from The Mint Julep, and we were very pleased with everything.   Our dining room table was delivered as well as our patio furniture.

A lot of the furniture that we ordered will not arrive until the Summer. Every site is so backed up.  As my family will attest, I am not a patient person, so this is killing me.

I spied a nosy neighbor trying to check us out.

A couple of weeks ago, Ulta held its 21 Days of Beauty promo.  These are the products that I ordered.
I gave you the product links to Sephora because they are holding their promotion now.

The GlamGlow Bright Eyes cream promises to make your under-eye brighter.  I didn't see much difference.  However, it is a nice eye cream that absorbs quickly.  It's also a good base for concealer.

The Dr. Brandt Pores No More Refiner Primer is a silicone base.  It has some color to it and does a stellar job filling in my potholes, otherwise known as my pores.

The Halo Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer is easy to apply and has 25 SPF.  It has a bit more coverage than other tinted moisturizers that I have tried.  It's great for during the day.

I stocked up on my Benefit Roller LashI like it because it doesn't clump. I wish they made a waterproof for the days when Spectrum doesn't show up.

Hands down, the star of the group is St. Tropez Bronzing Water Face Mist.  This stuff is the bomb!  All you do is spritz on your face, and within an hour, you will see a healthy golden glow.  The color is very natural.  It smells delicious and is packed with moisturizers.

 No SPF, though.

This week I fell in love.  With Etsy.  After our patio furniture arrived, I decided to order some bright outdoor pillows.  Etsy has such a fabulous selection, it was difficult for me to make a decision.  I did order some, though. Here are several that caught my eye.

Love at first sight!
Great shop too.

I always appreciate a pop of orange.

Love these preppy pillows!

I love when they give groupings.

I ordered a couple of these for inside the house.

I ordered a couple of these with our monogram.
By the way... I have a question for you.
When doing a couple's monogram, do you put the wife's or husband's initial first?

Love this color combo.

Great price.
Lots of colors.

Indoor Pillows

Sooooo pretty.

This website features some gorgeous pillow covers.

Be still my heart.
Love the checks.
Great price too.

How timely!

LOVE!!!

When I went to order the inserts, I chose another company other than this one.

When the shipping was going to be 70 buckaroos, I switched to this company.  It has great reviews, too.

I was tempted to order this one, but Chili can't read, and Chowdah has left me for #2.

Until next time...

  2. Glad things are moving along albeit slowly! I totally understand the painter dilemma. Ours keeps pushing back the date he can get started. Love the pillows. Continued good luck!

  3. For a couple’s monogram, I put my husband’s initial first for two reasons: 1. his initial comes before mine in the alphabet 2. On an item such as a pillow (which he has absolutely no interest in) I want him to feel like he’s included in the design process (which we all know he wasn’t)

  4. Slowly but surely! I also ordered that mascara, as well as an eyebrow pencil for Grace. You can't beat 50% off! Hope ATT works out for you this week!!

  6. I browse Etsy all the time and buy all the time, but it has never occurred to me to look for pillows on there. Good grief, I shall go do that now. Good luck with AT&T, they are sorrier than sorry here. Make me want to cuss! Have a great week!

  8. I hate waiting around for delivery/service people that don't show up... We recently ordered new furniture and were told it should hopefully arrive sometime in June or July too. It's frustrating for sure but like you said everywhere we went had the same delivery dates as all the factories are behind.

  9. Cutest finds on Etsy... I love shopping over there!! Your house looks beautiful; I love seeing snippets of it. Can't wait to see more. Hoping that darn internet guy shows up this week!!! And thanks for sharing those Ulta finds... going to check out the Sephora links on the pore one and the spray. :)

  10. I am so happy that the house has been purchased and the fun stuff has begun. I know it will all come tighter despite the delays. We have all had to learn a bit of patience this past year. I thought I had some, but have learned I don't:)

  11. I know how hard it must be to have to wait for your furniture. Our #2 just got her first brand new home and has trouble getting furniture because of back orders being stacked up. What you have done so far is lovely. I have the same chandelier that you have over your table. I love the simplicity.

  12. The wife's initial is first, the last name intital in the middle and the husband's initial last. A man's name and his last name should never be parted. example: KC? (I don't know your husband's name hence the question mark.)

    1. Mrs. Katie,
Ms. Lisa is correct! I used to work for a gift shop where we did lots of invitations and monograms.

  15. DO YOU HAVE SQUIRRELS in TEXAS?
They eat my outdoor pillows and furniture!!
If anyone has a CURE for that let me know!

  16. I needed a laugh, Sis, so thank you. Vaccinations are very slow here in BC. However, I got notification this morning that I can book my first shot. Excellent. Of course, Just TypiKel: the system is down. Took me an hour to get that delightful news - from 06:00 to -7:00 when the booking office opened. Uh huh. Still offline. So close and yet ...

  17. Boom. Booked. Thanks for the luck, Sis.

  18. Such excitement! New house and you are vaccinated! Hooray! I ordered a couple off poolside pillows with custom messages for my dear daughter-in-law from Designs by Them. Patty is a dream to work with!!
Good luck with getting your new house all set for move in!!

  19. How fun to have a new home with fresh, new furniture! Can't wait to see the rooms when you are finished later in the year.

  20. It looks like it is coming on well and three cheers for the vaccinations. (I had a similar reaction -- short lived and I'll take it!) Your nosy neighbor is a cutie!

  21. Hi, Katie. Would you mind sharing where you got your MOB dress? Thought it was perfectly suited for you and the venue and you looked radiant and beautiful. I'm a soon-to-be MOG just starting the dress hunt for a beach wedding in Mexico this November. Wish me luck ;)

  22. Katie,
I had a flashback when you mentioned some of the scheduling (not showing up) workers. Mister and me are California born and raised. The mister got a job transfer and we bought a semi-custom home in Arlington, TX. Trying to get a landscape guy, delivery of any kind and the like, was so frustrating for me. I really am not the most patient person, but seriously, don't they want/need the income?
    The pillows are amazing.
Fortunately, for all of it's faults, we've been back in sunny Southern California since 1982. It's nice to know Texas still enjoys a very laid back vibe.

  23. Wow! Love the progress you're making on the new house, and all the pillow talk! I just love pillows, and I could easily take any of what you've selected. Right now I'm eyeing nursery pillow covers (new Mimi here, coming late August). I don't have any, but most monograms I see show the queen's initial first. ;) I'm beginning to wonder if getting my shots early (2nd one was Feb 19) will have us wishing we'd waited until later, but that ticket to freedom was really calling. Plus, Krispy Kreme is giving away a donut a day for the rest of the year with COVID vaccine card (psst....they didn't even ask for the card in my town!). Who can resist that??
    Happy homemaking, thanks for sharing!

  26. Good question ... thankfully, Jim and I have the same first initial and we each think we come first. How do you find all these stunning pillows?
