Hello, dear friends. I hope that you had a good week. Yesterday, I spent the day with my neighbor, Kathy. We attended a Breakfast With The Authors hosted by my favorite bookstore, Buttonwood Books & Toys. It was a gorgeous Fall day and the foliage is in full gear. I took pics and will share the delightful morning with you soon.
Here's a sneak peek.
One of my favorite authors, Lisa Duffy who wrote The Salt House and yours truly.
As if that was not enough excitement for me, we spent a good part of the afternoon shopping at my favorite Marshalls which just opened their new addition - Homegoods.
My friends, Caroline Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita live in this town.
If you don't know who they are, you have better taste in TV than me.
I'm pretty sure the Mister would suffer from house envy if he saw this home gym. When we are in the market for a house the only thing he cares about is a work out room and a garage.
Oh yeah, he's pretty particular about the kitchen too.

Are you planning a weekend getaway?
You can find a list of the best Fall destinations around the country here.
Amazon I'm going to put my two cents in for what it's worth. About a month before we went on our first cruise, a very organized friend recommended packing cubes to me. I ordered them and love them. They keep me so organized and I have yet to forget to pack something. Amazon has tons of them and Marshalls and TJ's have also been known to carry them every once in awhile.

I'm off to NYC pretty soon and I need to order one of these so I don't have to listen to the Mister moan and groan about carrying my 30 lbs. of beauty products. It takes a village to be me.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Until next time...

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Feel free to contact me through comments and email. I love to hear from my readers!
I've been using something similar to packing cubes and I agree..they're a game changer. As is rolling clothes to pack. Takes up so much less room! LOVE the fall destinations link. I couldn't pin that one fast enough. Have a great weekend!
Love that Mummy Pie. Brilliant! :-) And I don't know why we neglected to include a basketball court in our house plans. But I do love the home tours. Always so fun to see!
Ahhh so much to oooh and ahhh over!!! LOVE the Mummy Pie and centerpieces for Fall with Pizazz!!! Happy weekend gorgeous...classy and movie star looking in that black!!
Since we are departing from a 2 week break in the morning I will need these packing tips. Clothes seem to grown in the air! Plus, we've done several in home basketball courts and we have to be creative to make them work into a decor!-Laurel
Interesting links for us yet again! I enjoyed the centerpieces. Some lovely ideas. The packing cubes are something new to me. Also interesting. Happy weekend!
I got so sidetracked I almost forgot to come back here and leave you a comment. I think you should sue a neighbor if they paint their house the same color as yours! OMG- can you believe it? I don't even think K's house looks much like the C's house anyway!
Sadly, I, too, know Carolyn and Jacqueline. You are in poor company here. lol
Have a wonderful weekend, Katie. xo Diana ps- I just ordered some of those cubes. I have seen them advertised but never 'bit'...well-the bite has been taken. I am on the go all the time and tired of having my underwear fight with my lace blouse...although I always use shoe bags! lol
Hi Katie! I love your Friday Files. There's enough reading material here to get me through two cups in the morning and I always finish just shaking my head in wonder at the absurdities and bits of "wisdom" you find for us! A great way to start my day! I go hot and cold on the packing cubes. I'm sure there are enough in my luggage attic to start a little side business, yet I bought a few for our last trip -- different brand... One thing is for sure: I don't roll my clothes! I can't find anything if I do. What a hilarious suitcase. I just know I would be the one to tip it over riding up a curb. I'll be watching for you to come riding up on it next weekend! :) Based on that thrift store no-no list I'm not sure what else there would be to buy there! I noticed they didn't mention undies. Can't wait to see you next week! Linda
Happy weekend! Love your Friay files. The story about the houses in Canada is weird. I surprised their was a settlement because the last I heard Tudor was a style that has been around a very long time.
Hi Katie, I have to bake the mummy pie for my grandson, that is just so cute for Halloween. Love your great tips and links in Friday Files, I'm saving quite a few of them. Looking forward to meeting my favorite funny/witty blogger next week!
Hi...the Franklin Lakes house center staircase reminded me of the Beverly Hillbillies staircase. I could picture Ellie Mae coming down the steps. Have a great weekend.
Oh dear....I guess I'll need to give up antiquing altogether, according to the list of things I shouldn't buy...or else someone might sue me when they buy them. As for the Toronto neighbors....just wow. Those who sued must be quite impressed with themselves is all I can say. Have fun on your trip this week! I hope one of your send me a picture while you're there, and don't make me wait for the post. :(
Oh, those fall arrangements, I'd take any one of them. And, HomeGoods! I do love that store but do not have one anywhere near. Ugh! Have a great weekend!
Katie, this was a great post with so many lovely links. I found the Hygge link on FTD.com to be especially informative. I included a link to this post on my blog today so others will enjoy it too.
I love all your links, especially the packing tips and the hygge ideas. I like the suggestion to stay in bed an extra hour to get that cozy feeling! Have a wonderful weekend!
I'm Katie. Welcome to my blog. I am an empty nester meandering through my midlife years one page at a time. We sold our antique home on the South Shore of Massachusetts in October 2020 and relocated to the Dallas suburbs and our forever home.
I love to write about books, movies, TV, celebrities, shopping, decorating, Bravo, and weekend adventures. My favorite writing material, however, is derived from my family: the Mister, my girls, #1 and #2, my favorite son-in-law, and my new little mischief-maker, thoroughly darling Millie. I love hearing from my wonderful readers.

I think mummy pie would be nice today. For fun I'd like to ride on a suitcase but I have to say that is the epitome of lazy!

ReplyDeleteThe house copying story is THE stupidest thing I've ever heard!! Look at you in a sweater!!! We are still sweating and wearing summer clothes!

ReplyDeleteFun files as always, Katie. Since Hygge is my word of the year, those were extra good!
ReplyDeleteI have had a set of packing cube for years (from EBags.com). I loved them so much that I have bought them as gifts for others.
