Holy Magnolia!

Good morning, dear friends.  Yesterday, I spent the day with my BFF, Anne, touring beautiful gardens in Beacon Hill.  I took lots of photos that I will share at a later date.

I woke up today to a gorgeous sunny morning.  It's almost nice enough for me to take up jogging.  But then I poured myself a cup of joe and decided to sit down and finish up this overdue post on the Shangri-la of home accessories - the almighty Magnolia.  I can take up jogging next year.

My #1 and I arrived in the early afternoon on a Thursday.  It was busy - but not too bad and we didn't have to wait in line to get in.

Magnolia employs plenty of salespeople who are eager to help and encourage patrons to buy something when they see it because they run out of things.  My #1 and I doubted this.  We saw plenty of shelves being replenished as soon as stock was getting low.

I found a great way to get the scoop from the salespeople.  I would approach a lady about my age - in her 40's, give or take a decade or two.  I would then ask her if she was Joanna.  She was like putty in my hands.  One of the ladies told me that there is a line every morning to get in the store and weekends are brutal.  The best time to shop is mid-afternoon during the week.

Another Joanna look-alike told me that she has met Chip and Jojo a couple of times and they are very nice.  I thanked her for not bursting my bubble and went on with my shopping.

These sheets of paper are wrapping paper.  They were cute enough to frame, though.

Why do I adore the looks of food scales and abhor the ones that weigh people?

The store has plenty artificial flowers.

Love these napkins!

They have plenty of food trucks on the premises and lots of picnic tables in shaded areas.

Unfortunately, Chip and Joanna were not around.  Rumor has it that they were at the bank counting their money.

Enjoy your weekend.

Until next time...

  7. Hi Katie,

I live in Omaha Nebraska and a store here carried the same wrapping paper that you commented on. I purchased a sheet that had bicycles on it and as you suggested I had mine framed. It turned out great and was a present to my oldest son.

Thanks for the virtual shopping opportunity as the drive from ky to Texas is just too far for home accessories. I would like to have some of the wrapping paper! Cute. Napkins. Cute. Flowers, gorgeous! Sheila

  12. Great pictures! I want to go to Magnolia, but I'm afraid I'll be too overwhelmed with the crowds that I won't enjoy it. It's definitely the place to be right now though! I'm afraid if I don't go soon I'll get kicked out of my home state!

  14. Oh what fun...I do enjoy their show. The items they carry look so "them". It is a shame they were at the bank for hours on end.

  18. You and I are so similar in what catches the eye in home decor. I was loving ALL of your pics!!! I'd have such a hard time holding back on buying everything I saw. The wrapping paper was beautiful! And I still can't believe those flowers were artificial! What a fun trip!!

  25. I really like watching their show on tv. I'm not a big spender, so they wouldn't make a lot of money from me, but I love that we got to go look at the store through your post without dealing with the crowds! I also love the look of those food scales! -Jenn

  26. Cute store! Did you purchase anything?
When I watch Fixer Upper, it always amazes me how inexpensive homes are in TX compared to the East Coast.

  29. You always find the best outings and adventures, Katie! What a fun place to visit. I know we are both fans of the TV show. Chip and Joanna were clearly very astute when they bought the 'silohs' and expanded their retail spaces. Wow! Counting $$$ is right! Good for them. I love that mailbox on the wall with the letters flying out of it--so creative!
    Fun post, Katie!

  32. You know they were at the bank!!

I can't wait to go. Even though I see pictures of merchandise that we can easily find at other stores in Texas...I love the way the store doesn't look so incredibly crowded with merchandise. Does that make sense? You know how some stores are floor to ceiling? I like those too but Magnolia looks uncluttered.

You're just so funny, Katie. You're a hoot!

  33. Hi Katie! This is the second post on Magnolia I've seen this week and it makes me all the more eager to visit! I've wanted to for a long while. I suspect the only saving grace is that if I did go, I would be flying and not able to carry too much back!

Your photos are terrific and judging by what catches your eye, you and I would either be tremendously compatible shoppers or else at tooth and nail with each other going for the perfect one-of-a-kind! Either way, we'd be smiling!

Speaking of which, thanks for your recent visits/comments at Marmelade Gypsy. I had a big smile on my face! Since I can't reply via email/no-reply blogger, please accept my thanks and smiles here!

  34. We must have just missed each other ... I was at Magnolia a week ago. My second time there, and as one whose weakness is accessories, I love shopping there! This time, I treated myself to the artificial tulips and the cotton boll stems (perfect for a Texas home) as well as the white ceramic vase in one of your pictures, and a green glass bottle for the tulips. I'll remember your tip for the sales people next visit ... because for sure there will be another visit to Magnolia!
    Enjoy your blog so much!!
