Laundry Room Eye Candy

Even with my two little chickadees away at college, I still feel that I spend the majority of my time in the laundry room.  It is definitely not one of my favorite chores, (the Mister would probably ask me, "What is your favorite chore?")  I think I would definitely enjoy the process a lot more if I had one of these luxurious and pristine rooms in my humble abode.

Love the all-white ...

I would be so darned organized if I just had these great shelves and cute rug!

The french-grey walls and window really make this room.  My favorite part though is the TV - I could watch Real Housewives while I'm knee-deep in Tide!

What is a laundry room without a vase of fresh picked flowers? This looks like it belongs in a house in Connecticut and the maid does the laundry - not the supermodel trophy wife.

Some people fantasize about mansions and fancy cars...just give me a pretty, little, bright room with two big machines that do all the work for me and I'm happy!

Best New Summer TV Shows

While dodging the West Nile Virus and avoiding the Texas heat, my #2 and I have been spending plenty of time in front of the boob tube catching up on all of our DVR recordings. Watching hours of Real Housewives of just about anywhere, Million Dollar Listing on either coast, Dance Moms (can that witch on wheels really dance?), Toddlers and Tiaras, Honey boo boo (yes, even that train wreck).  Don't judge me...#2 is a bad influence on me.

Anyway, I have two (2) nominees for Best New Show of the Summer.  Both are on HBO, but I'm sure they're also available on Netflix.

First Nominee:

If you haven't seen "The Newsroom," it takes place in a cable channel newsroom (duh). Basically, it is about a news anchor (Jeff Daniels) that struggles to report the news with integrity as opposed to  catering to sensationalism. The writing is unbelievably sharp and the dialogue quick and precise.  It makes me wish every clever word came out of my mouth.

Aaron Sorkin's writing genius is so unique and the tempo of the script is his trademark. (He wrote The West Wing.)  Sorkin uses actual news events and incorporates them into his script.

Along with using compelling story lines, Sorkin is a master at  creating a very complicated relationship between the anchor and his producer.

Can you spell sexual chemistry?  These two are going to blow out a fuse on my TV.

Sam Waterson plays the cable news show's Managing Director.  I could watch this man read a telephone book.

The entire cast is great.  Not only are they great actors, but they are believable and likable characters.

*****

Second Nominee:

Congrats JLD for breaking the Seinfeld "curse." This is a political satire that gets more entertaining with every episode.  It is a fictional account of Selina Meyer, a woman who finds herself in the office of Vice President of the U.S.  She realizes immediately that the job specifications are nothing like what she had anticipated.

Vice President Meyer is wound tighter than a top, making more blunders and creating more awkward moments than Larry David.

The cast is great - really depicts the incompetency and egos of a real-life political staff!

Sista Chat 2

Hello again...

Sorry I was MIA last week but I was attending a boot camp for supermodel trophy wives.  No, not really, actually the Mister and I became official empty nesters at 5:02PM on Sunday.  I spent a most enjoyable week with our #2 driving to Virginia to set her up in her new home away from home in a college freshman dorm.

I am writing a big blog about that one as soon as I dry my tears.  In the meantime - here is a slice of Sista Chat from last week.

****

Sista just called me from the car.  She was driving home from her photoshoot in NYC for her book.  I know, I never told you she wrote a book - I must have been jealous forgotten .  Don't get excited - no "Shades of Sista."  It is a book on Sales and is scheduled to be released in January. I'm sure I will be mentioning this a LOT more over the next 6 months.

Anywho, she called from the car saying how pleased she was with her photographer and her photoshoot.

Sista:  You cannot believe how great my photo session went....

Me: Oh that's great.

Sista:  The photographer was so nice and very complimentary!

Me: Oh that's great.

Sista:  Jay was wonderful - he loved all the outfits and jewelry I brought.

Me: Jay the photographer?

Sista: Ah no.... my make up artist!

Me:  Really?

Sista:  AND he gave me great "inside" tips.

Me: OK, I'm ready....let's hear 'em.

Sista:  Ok,  in order to look 20 years younger you take this white cream made by L'oreal or maybe Revlon and you put it by your pupil in the corner of the eye.

Me: Great!  I'm writing this down -- what's the name of it?

Sista:  Ahhh.. I forget - just look for the white cream made by L'Oreal or Maybelline.

Me: I thought it was Revlon?

Sista: Who cares??? You are so picky!! Anyway, he told me the BEST way to contour your cheekbones that takes 15 years off your face...

Me: Great... I need it --- got my pen what is it?

Sista: ..Oh... You are going to be SHOCKED! It was....

STATIC ---STATIC----STATIC
DEAD PHONE

Me: FINALLY...I've been trying to get through for half an hour!  So what will make me look 30 again?

Sista:  Huh?  Oh yeah, it was a brand sold in the drug stores and I think it begins with an "R."

Me:  Roc?

Sista:  No - actually it began with a "C" or an "E" - but I can't tell you how great I look.... this product is LIFE CHANGING!

Me: YOU'RE TELLING ME YOU CAN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF SOME THING THAT IS LIFE CHANGING?

Sista:  Gotta run...my publisher's on the line....

If my Sista looks 20 years younger the next time I see her, I'm going to be really really mad!
