One thing that my friends, family and house could tell you is this: I have quite a penchant for topiaries.
I don't discriminate - real or artificial - I love them all. While the longest lifespan has only been about a year, they are always worth the effort.
I will re-plant it, spray it with insect spray, douse it with soapy water, add fertilizer - or any combination of the above. The nice lady at the nursery told me to bring it into the shower with me once a month. (Don't judge me, I actually did it...) The first time I did, the poor thing's leaves drooped even worse than ever; it never did fully recover. I think it died of a mixture of fright and disgust.
The next three pictures are of three of the five topiaries that are "lucky" enough to reside in my home.
This little guy has had the pleasure of being a guest at Casa del Preppy Empty Nester for a mere 3 weeks... that's why he looks so great (and yes, I do personify my plants). He has no clue about my reputation in the topiary circle. Every time I walk past him, I give him a compliment and a thumbs up. Hopefully, this will work.
The two on the left were my big finds at Homegoods. I literally got emotional and developed heart palpitations when I found them. The two adorable ones on the right were a birthday present from Sista last year. Lori designed the fireplace vignette.
The Mister ordered these from Restoration Hardware as a surprise for me. I love them and the best part: I can't kill them!

Love these. They don't look like they would die on me, either.
An herb/topiary garden. Could anything be sweeter?
Elan Flowers
This looks like the topiary that I have. Maybe if I put pretty flowers and candles around him, he will like me better.

At least I'll have better hair - and bigger assets...

ReplyDeleteHi! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers?
ReplyDeleteMy last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing many months of hard work due to no back up.
Do you have any methods to protect against hackers?
