Books, TV, & Movies

Hello, dear friends.  Baby, it's cold outside! The good news is that it is not expected to last long.

Last night, the Mister and I attended a lovely dinner party given by my friend, Anne and her charming Mister.  As always, the dinner, as well as the company were spectacular.  If you missed my post about Anne's lovely home, it's right here.

Books

With the exception of one, I have not read the books that I mention in this post.  Most of them are being released this month.  I have, however, put them on my download list.

Wow.  I'm almost finished with Only The Truth, and I still can't figure out how it will end.  It moves quickly, has loads of twists and turns, and is not predictable.  If you enjoy thrillers, this is a great one.

My friend, Anne was very excited to see that Elinor Lipman had a new book coming out at the end of February.   Funny, poignant, and a little bit outrageous is how this book is described.  Sounds right up my alley.

A successful hotel exec finds some emails on her hubby's computer addressed to another woman.  Two words:  uh-oh.

Two lives are changed by a drunken kiss.
Three words: double uh-oh

If you're a big fan of James Patterson, he's got a new one coming out at the end of the month.

I think that I have read every book that Lisa See has written.
I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

A fifteen-year-old girl unravels the details of her mother's death while living at her grandparents' home.

During WWI, a girl must pretend to be a male soldier to save her younger brothers.  It's compared to The Book Thief.
I'm in.

The better half of the perfect couple walks away with their son and disappears and leaves the wife sitting at the beach.

Face it... if you have to be left by your man, there are worse places to be left than the beach.

Movies

The Mister and I went to see this yesterday.  The Mister read the book and loved it.  Shocker!  This is definitely not the type of book he usually reads. Naturally, he said that the book was better than the movie.  I thought the movie was good, carried a powerful message, and may not be for everyone.

So excited for this one.

And this one!

I've been waiting for this one to come out for awhile.

Just in case you want to read the book first.

TV

I read the book a few years ago, and I am really enjoying Big Little Lies.
The costars of the show are the breathtaking beach houses that are the backdrops of the show.

I was very skeptical of Imposters because I have not been impressed with scripted shows on Bravo.  I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem.  The Mister is enjoying it, as well.

The Americans is one of the most underrated shows on TV.  The acting, as well as the script, are top notch.

I don't know which I love more - the beautiful beach house or this dynamic duo.

You know what bugs me?  I don't like it when the network decides to split a TV show's season in half.  I can't remember what I had for lunch, let alone what happened 6 month's ago in this POTUS's life.  Anywho, Part 2 of Season 1 begins this week.

Trailer

If you're looking for me tonight, I will be in front of the TV.
I can hardly wait.

Do you have any Book, TV, or Movie recommendations for me?

Until next time...

I know that I sound like a braggadocious Mama, but I must say that my Chowdah is a voracious reader.  If he likes the book, he then devours it.  Literally.

The Friday Files

Hello, dear friends.  Are you happy that it's Friday?  I am.  But I'm  even more excited about the fact that it will officially be Spring in 18 days.

I took a couple of pics on my walk yesterday.

I ran into some neighbors on my stroll.
They weren't in the mood to talk, though.

Do you see what I see?
It makes me so happy!

Speaking of happy, if this bedroom were mine, I would wake up with a big ol' smile on my face every morning.  Lots more stunning bedrooms can be found here.

Tory Burch has tapped its new foldable ballet flat as the ultimate walking shoe.  I never thought that their regular flat shoe was comfy, but I may have to give these a whirl.

This is Ember.  It is a coffee cup new on the market that is sold at Starbucks.  For a mere $150 buckaroos, Ember can be yours.  You may have to wait awhile because they are sold out in most stores.  For $300, you could buy me one too.

Woohoo!  TJX Cos. is opening 1800 new stores!  They are also opening a couple of Home stores that will be different than my beloved Homegoods

I knew 2017 was going to be a great year!

Feast your eyes on this renovated 19th Century dairy barn which was moved from Montana and reassembled stone by stone in Wyoming as a home.

I would definitely mooooove in.

Wowza!
This is some bathroom!

I've got good news for all you gardeners out there.  It's not only good for you physically but mentally, as well.

Do you want to know some of this beautiful lady's beauty secrets?  I've got them right here.
Your welcome.

I follow Grapevine Interiors on Instagram.  They are a local full-service design firm.  I love everything they do.

They are coming out with a line of therapeutic dog beds.  You can find out more info here: louisa@grapevineinteriors.com.

What a fiasco that Oscar show turned out to be!  I'm glad I went to bed.  I'm also happy that I wasn't one of the accountants.

On the whole, I thought the dresses were beautiful.  The theme of the evening was less cleavage/more class.  This one was one of my favorites.
And if it has pockets, it's pure perfection.

Do you agree with the most iconic restaurant that was chosen for your state?

Even though I am not a whiz in the kitchen, I love to look at mouth-watering photos of food.  Sometimes I even send the pic to the Mister with a note that says... can you make this?

It was love at first sight when I spotted this cherry tomato and olive tart.

If you want to be the queen of the Easter Parade, these Cadbury Egg Cupcakes could be your ticket.

And how about these Bunny Ears Cupcakes... almost too cute to eat.
I said almost.

I found these two posts on Instagram.
They remind me so much of my girls.

They loved their little car so much.
It was the object of many brutal battles.

Like this little girl, my #1 always came up with creative ideas for managing her baby sister's time.

Have a great weekend.

Until next time...

Tales of the Traveling Totes

Hello, dear friends.  I hope that you are having a wonderful week.  Today is Ash Wednesday and the first day of Lent, and I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to give up.

About a year ago, my friend, Sarah from Hyacinths for the Soul asked me if I would be interested in joining the Tales of the Traveling Totes group.  I positively adore MacKenzie-Childs, and I asked her about what was involved in being a member of the group.

Patti from Pandora's Box started this group of lovely ladies a few years ago.  You can read about it here.

I was so excited, I felt like I was asked to sit at the cool table at lunch!  The only thing that I lacked was one thing... the MacKenzie-Childs tote.

Well, lo and behold, with some heavy hints and constant direction, the Mister bought me an MC tote for Valentine's Day.  What a surprise!  Wink!  Wink!  I love the looks of it and it is large enough to carry my arsenal of miracle creams and makeup when I travel.  It is also large enough to camouflage a multitude of sins that reside in my hip area.

Everyone is expected to name their tote, so I came up with the name Miss Daisy.  I've always loved the name Daisy, and the Mister vetoed the name for our  #1.  Driving Miss Daisy is also one of my all time favorite movies.  If you're too young to remember Driving Miss Daisy, I have two words for you:  I'm jealous.

Look how excited they look for their Mom.
Anything new that comes into the house needs to be inspected and sniffed by our Security officers.

I have only been a member of the group for a couple of weeks, so I don't have any exciting adventures to share.  But, the other members have plenty to tell.  Stop over and visit them.

Here's the best news.  The group is sponsoring a give away of this gorgeous vase.  All you have to do is hop over to Sarah's blog, Hyacinths for the Soul, leave a comment, and you will be entered into a drawing for the vase.

Good luck, I hope that you win.

Until next time...
