Last weekend

This morning I woke up to some unbelievable news...

Splitsville?

SHOCKER!!

and

not so much of a

SHOCKER!

On with my post...

Here it is almost next weekend and I am just reporting back about last weekend.  It was a really wonderful one and I took lots of pictures to share with you.

Saturday it was rainy and cold.  So what else  is new?  The Mister and I did some boring errands and then he decided to spoil me.  I am such a lucky girl.  He took me somewhere I have never been before or even thought about going.  He took me to...

The Dump!

not really the dump

The Dump is actually not bad.  I expected it to look like the above picture but it was neat and very organized.

Nothing beats a beautiful day at the dump.  Somebody should write a country song about that.

As if that wasn't enough, the Mister then surprised me with a beautiful lunch at a romantic little French place.

I can hear those sighs of envy out there.  My guy really knows how to show a girl a good time.

And that was just Saturday!!

On Sunday, we met two of my oldest and dearests and their loves in Beantown for lunch.  I had not seen them for a couple of years because they live in Connecticut and I was in Texas.  Not only were our parents best friends, we were next door neighbors and were known to have great times in NYC and Dogwood's in Fairfield in our single days.

This is Susie B and her sista, Cathy.  These lovely ladies can never run for President because I have waaaay too much dirt on them!

You remember Susie B, don't you?  She was the star of one of my most popular posts EVER.  She has many rich and famous friends.  You can read all about it here.

Beautiful Cathy is an attorney and one of the funniest and sweetest people I know.

Everybody in the world loves Susie B.  I don't know whether I have ever seen her without a smile on her face.

You know the type of buds that you can go awhile without seeing each other and yet when you are together it seems like yesterday?

Cathy and her hubby, Neil.  I was a bridesmaid in their wedding as well as Cathy's twin sister's.  I still have the dresses to prove it!

Susie and her darling beau, Mike.  This is a great story for all the ladies out there that may have given up on love.  Susie has had many dates and boyfriends in her life and yet no one she was really interested in until she met Mike.  They have been dating for a year and a half and you can't help to see they are in L-O-V-E!  So great to see her so happy!  I'm starting my bridesmaid diet tomorrow!

The Mister probably bragging to the guys what a lucky man
he is to be married to moi.

We went to Abe & Louie's which was the happening place in Beantown.  The food and service were great and the company even better!

So that's it for my weekend.

Hope your weekend is filled with great friends!

First Room Reveal

It has started.  The Mother of all Blizzards is here with a vengeance.  Everything that was suppose to happen tomorrow has been cancelled.  The meteorologists are bursting with glee.  The supermarkets are packed with people expecting to be snowed in until Spring.  I never made it to the grocery store.  I have plenty of coffee and wine - my two favorite food groups.  Instead, I visited two Homegoods and bought a table and a rug.   If I'm going to be snowed in for awhile, I want to be surrounded by pretty things.  At least that's what I'm telling the Mister.

So here is my first post of my new very old house.

Guess who's favorite room was finished first?  Let me give you a hint... it wasn't mine.

Here's another hint... the third floor houses the Mister's playroom, his bathroom, his closet and my itty bitty office, blog central.  The reason that the Mister's bathroom and closet are on the third floor is that he is crazy gets up every morning at 4AM to work out and get ready for work.  Need I tell you that a woman of my tender years, extreme early middle age, needs her beauty sleep.

Up the stairs he goes...

The former owners used this space as an office.

My Mister had better ideas...

Welcome to the Mister's playroom.

This is where the Mister builds his really big muscles... I just put that in there because I want him to be a little bit more forgiving on my decorating budget.

Mister spent hours folding his mats and towels.

These are the only two possessions I have in this Utopia of Manhood.   The top is a weight belt that supposedly helps you burn calories if you wear it while going about your busy day.  The other two sad little purple things are hand weights.  I think they are suppose to make your hands so heavy that you can't lift your fork to your mouth.
I've used both of them at least four times.
They don't work.
Maybe I'll sell them on ebay.

The former owners bathroom.

The Mister's bathroom.
He decided to go for a much more macho color.
I call it testosterone tan.

The Mister found this little chest and the one next to his sink on one of my millions of visits to Homegoods in Plymouth and Norwell.  He was so proud of himself!

And last but not least.... the Mister's closet.
Drum roll please...

Looks like the Rangers have been replaced by the Red Sox.

"A place for everything and everything in its place"
...my Mister's mantra.

If you are being hit by the snow
 stay warm and safe.
If you're in a nice warm, sunny climate
 I hate you.
just kidding.

A dog after my own heart....

Tree Skirt Update by Dude

My buddy, Dude called me this morning. I was sitting in the car in the pouring rain outside Loew's while the Mister was inside doing a very serious study of commodes. I have had my "fill" of commodes with this house.  Our new very old house was built in the 1890, and the toilets haven't been replaced since.  The Mister keeps telling me it's part of the "charm."

Ours should look this good!

Anyway, back to Dude.  Poor thing.  Not only is she is tall, skinny and has the legs of a Rockette, the poor girl is stuck in her winter home in Naples, Florida for two months.  "How's the weather?" I asked as my teeth chattered.  "Kind of chilly," she answered and then told me the temps were in the 60's.   I warned her not to forget her sunscreen and to wear a sweater on the golf course.   I then gazed down at my puffer coat, and 2 layers of fleece I have been featuring since I arrived on the East Coast 8 weeks ago. It's no wonder I have difficulty getting in and out of a car.

This would be me if she had grey roots and frosting on her chin.

So Dude told me that she has an update on her tree skirt post.  If you missed her first post, you can find it here.

Yes, I wore my tree skirt this holiday season and I loved it!!! I think that it deserves a name of it's own, so"skape" it is!! The SKAPE  made it's debut at a party, then Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Various comments included, "Oh, I read the blog, hysterical....wait, you're actually WEARING it?"I repeatedly replied, "YES and proud of it!!" Some people mentioned how much they like my wrap, having no idea that it was actually a tree skirt ......

Yeah, I look this good in hot pink pants too!  I'm not putting my picture on because I don't want to make Dude feel fat.

Happy Monday!

First dog to wear a "skape."
