I hope all is well in your world. We had a busy couple of days. Friday, the Mister and I headed to Lucy's house so he could help AJ hang a few things in their new home.
Moana has taken a first-row seat at Lucy's house since she saw the movie. I brought her a Moana doll and book. She went bonkers when she saw the doll. After about 15 minutes of ripping, tearing, and tugging Moana from her child-safe packaging, Lucy looked at me with her big baby blues and squealed, "off"! She wanted me to take Moana's clothes off.
It shouldn't be much of a surprise since all of her baby dolls are au naturel.
It got a little tense when I told her that the skirt could be removed, but the top would stay because it was painted on. After a few tears, she gave me a break and proceeded to try on Moana's itty-bitty skirt.
At the risk of body shaming the child, I tried to explain that she was too big for the Barbie-sized skirt.
She seemed only slightly offended as she and her sidekick went to sit on Grandpa's lap and look at all of his Lucy pics on his phone.
We then had a delightful lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Il Bracco. While the Mister perused the News, I let my fingers do the walking at Amazon in search of a Moana dress that would be the perfect size for Lucy.
Jackpot! It would be delivered the next day!
On Sunday, we headed back to Lucy's house so the Mister could help AJ with some more fix-it jobs. Any day the Mister can show off his toolbox is a good day in his world.
When Lucy opened the dress, she wasn't sure what it was.
With unbridled joy, I proclaimed ''It's Moana!"
She looked at me as if to say... WHO?
Her Mama tried to put it on her, and she repeated her favorite words Off! Off! Off!
Oh well, you win some and you lose some...
We then headed to a birthday celebration.
We met the world's happiest couple, our #2 and Darlin' Will, at the restaurant.
I don't claim to be a psychic, but I will take a wild guess that this will be our #2's best year yet!
Our in-house food critic gives Beverly's a 5-star rating.
While Moana was catching some zzzs, the papparazzi spied Lucy modeling her new dress that evening.
I love happy endings!
The story revolves around three college seniors, Jordan, Sam, and Yash. All three are brilliant and love spending time with each other. Eventually, a love triangle forms and lasts many years after graduation. I loved Lily King's last book, Writers & Lovers, and she didn't disappoint with this one.
It's out today.
I haven't read any of Grisham's books in a while. I really enjoyed this one, which focuses on a lawyer going through a divorce and needing to drum up some business. In walks a rich widow needing a will to be drawn up. I would tell you what happens next, but then I'd have to kill you.
The lawyer reminded me of Eddie Flynn, one of my favorite characters from Steve Cavanagh's books.

Speaking of Eddie Flynn, I am reading this nail-biter, which is coming out in March.
I am listening to this, which centers around a famous author who died in an accident.
Or was it an accident?
AmazonA woman is living in a broken-down cabin with a roof that needs repairing. A major storm is brewing. She catches a glimpse of a child in the window. As with all McFadden's books, it's a quick read with plenty of twists and turns.

I love Lucy’s smocked dresses. I used to smock rompers and blouses for my son and dresses for my nieces when I was insane. 😂
ReplyDeleteLucy is so cute, and sounds like her personality will keep everyone on their toes. What a great photo of #2 and her boyfriend. Thanks for all the book recommendations.
