Painted Paper
I hope all is well in your world. This is my second attempt at writing this post. The first attempt was deleted, and I have no idea how it happened.
On a lighter note, we had a wonderful time with our houseguests, Miss Lucy and her Mama.
She is such a happy little girl!
We walked around our town square one day and had a great lunch a Rick's.
Relaxing with Grandpa in the shade.
We spent a lot of time on the patio while Lucy played with her water table, which was a big hit.
Lucy loves Mexican food! We took her to Gloria's where she munched on frambuesas, a Mexican delicacy!
The most touching moment of the weekend was watching #1 show Lucy my Creative Memories album of photos of her as a baby.
We have been in our house for four years. I thought that we were pretty much done with the renovations for now. That is, until the Mister decided that we should fill the awkward space outside my office on the second floor. It never bothered me, but for the Mister, it was like a pebble in his shoe.
He would send me photos of furniture, and nothing seemed to be the right fit for me. It was either too large or too small, or I didn't like the finish.
After about six months, the Mister came into my office and asked me if I needed more storage for anything.
It was then that I remembered my closet in my office filled to the brim with wrapping paper, ribbon, and enough gift bags to fill a Hallmark store. The Mister was delighted and told me that he would call our favorite carpenter and come up with a plan.
They came up with this plan, and I gave it my seal of approval.
The Mister and our favorite Carpenter jumped for joy!
All was well in Empty Nesterville once again!!
A few weeks later, the landing became a construction zone.
Miss Millie was the only one who was unhappy. She didn't like the idea of having her office barricaded!
Lucky for us, we have great neighbors. No one complained about the noisy workstation set up in the garage.
I was over the moon at first glance.
My only job was to choose the paint, and I'm happy to say everyone, including Millie, was pleased! I admit that I do not have a great record when it comes to picking paint colors. The Mister loves to remind me of the year I chose a buttery yellow for our bedroom. He said he felt like he was sleeping in a school bus.

The finished product!

A tension rod is tucked away for easy cutting.
The table pulls out, which gives me plenty of room to wrap.

The irony lies in the fact that I am the world's worst gift wrapper in the family. My Number 1 could win awards for her choice of wrapping paper, ribbon, and technique.
But what do you expect when you grow up with a mother who wrapped our Christmas gifts in tin foil... to match our tree.
Please do me a favor and leave a nice comment for the Mister. The guy needs positive reinforcement every minute of the day.

Wow, that is not only beautiful but so functional. How deep are the cabinets?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! Would you be willing to share your carpenter’s info? I have a mudroom area I’m desperate to add off kitchen.
