I hope all is well in your world and that you had an enjoyable Summer. We stayed close to home, took care of some projects, read a lot, met friends for lunches and happy hours, cheated at pickleball, walked our tails off, and got matching facelifts.
Okay, that's not true.
We didn't walk our tails off.
As you may have guessed, the highlight of our Summer was our one and only sweet, funny, curious, beautiful grandchild, Lucy.
Lucy's vocabulary is growing every day.
One word she is not saying is my chosen name, Lovey. Her mother greeted me at the door one day, with Lucy in her arms, who was waving and repeating the words "Bye-Bye!" Her mother burst out laughing, and Lucy giggled because she loves to make her Mama laugh. My granddaughter then referred to me as Bye-Bye during the remainder of my visit.
It's lucky I'm not sensitive.
Lucy was in her glory! The store was practically empty, so Lucy had the run of the place.
She must have uttered her catchphrase, wut dis? at least a hundred times!
These dishes aren't gonna wash themselves!
The bright pink dining room is what little girl dreams are made of. Every table is equipped with little highchairs for the guest dolls.
Lucy is telling me her age and not asking for the check.
I told Lucy that I would buy her the store if she called me Lovey.
I think you can guess her response from her expression.
Thanks for buying me all the cool stuff, Grandpa!Tell old what's-her-name I said bye-bye.
Lucy's Mommy and Daddy are very excited about moving into their beautiful new home this month.
I am happy to report that my #2 and Darling Will are still going strong. She started a new job over the Summer, which she loves.
We had some wonderful lunches with the Adorables.
The Misters chat about tools and appliances while Mrs. A and I talk about Lucy, Lucy, Lucy!!
Melissa has been a loyal reader for years. We finally met a while ago when we both moved to Texas. Now we meet for a catch-up lunch every month.
Note to self: if my next life, I need to ask for long legs.
Our #2 and Darling Will introduced us to our new favorite restaurant,
Bar Sardine. It only has eight or nine tables, a limited menu, and delicious food.
My #1 loves it too!!

When we chose the sofas for this house, I wanted to stay neutral so that I could give the room a different look by changing out the pillows. I originally had navy and green, and I think these give a softer look. You can find them here.
This was the Mister's summer project. No, he didn't build it, but he did design it. Within the next few weeks, I will write a blog post highlighting some of its unique features.
.
We celebrated Adopt A Bobcat Week. Mama bobcat was teaching her little ones how to hunt. After three days of sporadic visits to our patio, they realized the cupboard was bare and moved on.
When you are retired, bobcat watching is considered an art as well as the highest form of entertainment.
I kept my resolution of doing weight training three times a week.
* for two weeks.
Best part: it's working! I could pass for her twin.

I played a lot of pickleball this Summer. Yes, my fellow picklers are still cheaters.
Speaking of cheaters, guess who else is playing! If you guessed the Mister, you would be right. I played with him once, and promptly called the divorce lawyer.
The Mister and I did a lot of reading as Millie slipped into the role of our emotional support animal.
She gives 52 lbs. worth of support.
I joined LTK, so now you can find all the products I mention on the blog or Instagram in one place. Click here to check it out. There is also a button on my sidebar.
I want to welcome my new followers. Just as a heads up...
Some days I am more entertaining than others.
Yay, happy to have you back!! 🎉. Looking forward to your first book review of the season!

DeleteLucy is just beautiful, full of smiles and such a happy personality. It’s fun to hear her talk as long as she calls you beautiful and that you are her favorite.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great summer. I will be happy when October rolls around and look forward to much cooler temps.
If you both had face lifts, who ever did the work did an awesome job. Gave you the tested look. You both look great.
You made my day, Katherine! Lucy's other grandmother (my buddy) and I want Lucy to love us as much as she loves her wonderful Nanny.
DeleteSo glad you’re back and had a great summer. Your posts make me laugh out loud! Such a clever writer. My kind of humor!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your sweet words!
DeleteI loved catching up on everything that you have been up to this summer. That "little peanut" is getting cuter by the minute...if that's possible! As a Munchkin size person...I always say " in my next life I'm coming back at 5'8" tall with long arms!!
ReplyDeleteMy mother used to say she wanted long arms too. Have a great weekend.
DeleteSo happy to see your return! It was like an old friend dropping by to see me! And that Lucy! She is so precious and couldn't be cuter if she tried!

ReplyDeleteEveryone looks wonderful -- healthy & well-rested.
I cannot believe how Lucy has grown. I mean, that's what she's supposed to be doing, but still, it surprises me. Love her darling, preppy baby clothes.
LOVED all your photos! Send more. Happy that you've returned!
Bye-bye,
Bye-Bye💚

ReplyDeleteShe sure is! Thanks for following!
DeleteWelcome back - Lucy is darling (and certainly resembles her Dad!!). Your home looks lovely and looking forward to your blog posts!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!!
ReplyDeleteLucy in the first photo looks like your husband! What an adorable grandchild!
Cant believe you let the CHECK CHAIRS GO!!
we have a rec recliner loveseat, and I am not smitten
I loved the chairs but they did not wear well! Love watching your adventures with your handsome retired hubby! I will stop over to your blog soon!
DeleteFirst post is directing readers to buy more stuff………. I thought you were better than that
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteLOL!!! I can't help it!
DeleteLucy is getting more precious by the day!
ReplyDeleteI think you need some bread to go with all that spam.
DeleteNo kidding! It's never ending! Have a great weekend!
DeleteWelcome back! I always enjoy your posts. Lucy is beautiful as are you and your daughters! Hopefully #1 will give us a home tour. Love the soft look of the new pillows and those recliners are a wonderful place to read. Janey from Ft.Worth.
ReplyDeleteHi Janey! Great to hear from you! Yes, I am sure that #1 will give a tour. Hope you had a great summer!
DeleteSo happy you are back, and hearing about your fun summer! Lucy is absolutely precious, and her dresses are adorable. I especially liked the smocked one with three dogs. While I am a long way off from having grandchildren since none of boys are married, I have already thought about what any future grandchildren will call me, and Lovey is number one on my list. Going to add Bar Sardine to list of to try restaurants. The color palette in your house is so pretty, and you have done a fab job of decorating. We bought our first ever recliner for this house and I think I like more than my hubby. Unfortunately, the space does not allow for two otherwise I would have ordered a second one.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! We can start a Lovey club when you have a grandchild. Yes, we love Bar Sardine but as a warning, the parking stinks. The parking lot is all torn up like HP. But it's worth it. Drop me a line after you go. Have a great weekend!
DeleteWhat a great summer you've had. That sweet granddaughter is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteYour features of various places to dine make me wish we still lived in Texas.
Karen B.
Thanks Karen! Hope you had a good Summer. Haven't seen you on Insta lately. Miss you.
DeleteWelcome back! You were missed - as were the sweet photos of Lucy! She is so adorable! I understand your dilemma with her not calling you "Lovey" as my own Little came up with my Grand name instead of my preferrred one, too! I had my "Gramma" mug and sweatshirt purchased and ready but Little L decided I was "Bacco"! I have NO idea where that came from but it's stuck and now I couldn't imagine anything else! So glad you had a wonderful summer. Looking forward to future posts to come!
ReplyDeleteI am laughing out loud! Hope you have a great weekend, Bacco!!
DeleteLove seeing Lucy, she is adorable. You look well rested. Glad you’re back to writing.
ReplyDeleteSo am I! Have a great weekend and thanks for reading.
DeleteOh I just love your blog and glad to see you back ! I’m your daughter’s ages and I think you are just hilarious, classy, and have great style! Looks like you all had a great summer with Lucy.
ReplyDeleteEmma... that is the greatest compliment! I wish my girls were as impressed. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy every minute of being in your 30's! xx
DeleteWhat a great summer! Baby Lucy is precious, and how funny that she called you Bye Bye. You never know what they'll come up with, right? That bar/restaurant looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen for following along. Have a great weekend!!
DeleteWut dis?? You are back!! Yay!! Missed you and seeing photos of Miss Lucy who is getting quite big. Luv the updated interior of your home and your matching facelifts.
ReplyDeleteHi Paige... Wut dis is my new mantra! Thanks for your sweet words.
DeleteWelcome back, friend! Lucy is adorable. Our two local granddaughters are 10 and 12 and would rather be on their phones than hang with me, unless of course, I take them shopping. Enjoy this darling itty bitty stage.
ReplyDeleteHi Maggie! So great to hear from you! I miss you on Insta!
DeleteYay!!! You are back!! The only good thing about the end of summer!!
ReplyDeleteAww... thank you for your sweet words!
DeleteWelcome back! Little Lucy looks like a copy/past of her mama!
ReplyDeleteSo right, Rita! I'll pop over to see what you have been up to. Have a great weekend!i
DeleteSo glad you’re back.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun read. So glad you share
Thank you so much!!!
DeleteWelcome back Katie!!! Life is always better when you're posting! Miss Lucy looks so precious, she would be the perfect model for American Girl Place! Looks like Lucy has her Grandpa wrapped around her finger and it's always a treat seeing pictures of your family. 🩷 The Mister's summer project is impressive to say the least. OHHHH I do hope we can have a House Tour of Lucy's new home?! It's great to have you back! KTG
ReplyDeleteThank you KTG!! I look forward to your new project!!
DeleteSo glad you are back. My husband and I have switched to recliners as well.
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSS!! We are officially starting a Recliner Club!! xx
