I hope all is well in your world. Yesterday was the last day of school around here. Do you know how I know this?
This is our elementary school crossing guard, who is never without a smile or a wave. Little things like this make my town so special.
I remember when the girls were young, and it was the last day of school. I was just as excited as they were for Summer. Their enthusiasm never waned. Mine lasted about three days, and then I started the countdown until they headed back.
Today's post is my last one until September, God willing. I noticed that ever since I hit sixty, I have used the phrase "God willing" frequently.
I'm not going to bore you with the usual self-improvement and organizational tasks that I have planned because it is the same old story every year. Last year, I told you I would incorporate weight training into my daily routine. I ended up pumping the 8 lbs. of guilt three times, not weekly, but the whole summer.
The only daily lifting I did was my glass.

This dreamy Cashiers, North Carolina, second home was designed by Betty Burgess.
I just listened to the Doc on the Today Show sing the praises of Vitamin D.
Click here to see the segment.
This little tidbit is for my buddy, Lisa, who is leaving for Rome next week.
This is Xandy, whom I told you about a few weeks ago. She is a fabulous cook with a great style. Here, she gives a mini tour of her charming home.
You can catch her on Instagram here.
Have you ever wondered where the weather forecast comes from?
Here's your answer.
I always wondered about this case.
6/4 Apple
6/15 PBS
During the Summer, I will be upping my Insta game. Follow me at @preppyemptynester for book recommendations, TV & movie picks, great sales, pretty design pics, and a glimpse at some of my adventures - the ones I can talk about, that is.
Also, if you would like to see more of something on the blog, leave me a comment or feel free to email me.
Have a wonderful and safe Summer.
As the song goes...
See you in September!
God willing.
There are so many great sales this weekend!
This is the Lee Radziwill bag.
This stuff works!
Big sale going on over at Spanx!
I get saying “God willing.” The elementary crossing guard is a hoot. What a fun guy, he’s all heart. He must bring many joy everyday.
ReplyDeleteI think the cross guard is a lady.
DeleteHappy Summer Days to you & your family!!!
ReplyDeleteI will miss you & I’ll be eager to read your adventures in Sept. I’ll be adding Grandma to my resume when a baby girl debuts this Summer. Sending coastal winds from me in NorCal.
Congrats! There's nothing better! Have a great Summer!
DeleteHave a hot time playing with cool things this summer! Stop by South Alabama and say hello sometime!
ReplyDeleteI will miss your posts!
ReplyDeleteHave a great summer, Katie. Thanks for all your wonderful posts and I’ll be following you in Insta.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to “Outrageous” about the Mitford sisters on Britbox in June.
ReplyDeleteI’ll miss you. Have a wonderful summer!
PS have you thought about moving to Substack? I’ve subscribed to many blogs there & really like the platform.
Dearest Katie,
ReplyDeleteI will miss your blog but will look forward to hearing about your summer adventures. You remain the only blog I faithfully read. My husband is having a shoulder replacement this summer so we will not be touring Capri after all.🤭It will be a summer of PT. I hope you and the Mister have a pleasant and relaxing summer.

The guy with the children's pool float around his middle looks a little weird.
ReplyDeleteJust popping in to wish you a wonderful summer full of love and peaceful days. I saw the Wellington post. My hubby sold most of the homes in the first phase of Wellington back in the very early 80s. People thought it was 'so far out of West Palm' that it would never take off---boy were they wrong! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteGoing to miss your blogs, I'll be waiting for your return "God's Willing "......Wishing you and family a Great Summer!
ReplyDeleteNancy Brantley
Have a wonderful summer with that sweet Little of yours! I'll be following along on IG and will look forward to your return in the fall!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your blog so much, even though I don't usually comment.
ReplyDeleteDo yourself a favor and lift those weights! Take it from someone in their 70's; I wish I had started a better exercise program in my 60's that incorporated lifting weights!
Every doctor I encounter now with "my issues" says to do weight bearing exercises.
You know how the saying goes, "just do it!" Have a happy summer!
Good work! Glad to have found your page!! This is such great work
