Today is all about National Pet Day and I am linking up with Terri for Wednesday Medley. Stop over and find out who else is participating.
1. Have you ever had a special pet in your life?
Will you tell us about it?
Mothers are not supposed to play favorites with their kids or their pets. I'm going to break that rule and tell you that the best dog I ever owned is Gypsy, who is the fluff ball in the middle. The other one in the picture, Jackhammer, our Yorkie, had more issues than Vogue. He lived to the ripe old age of 17 and gave the term grumpy old man a whole new meaning.
The first time that I laid eyes on Gypsy, she was in a crate in front of Petco in The Woodlands, TX. In those days, the Humane Society would display eligible pets for adoption on Saturdays. My eyes locked with my sweet girl who at that time was a matted grey mess.
She was being fostered and I talked to the Mom. She told me that she had been fostering for 15 years and had never come across a sweeter dog. She was right.
We lost sweet Gypsy three months after we moved to Massachusetts and it broke my heart.

2. Did you grow up with pets in your home?
What did it teach you?
Pet Health Network
I did. My Mother was a huge dog lover. My Dad - not so much. Our first dog was a black dachshund named Pretzel.
Pretzel taught me to be cautious when walking in our backyard.

3. Do you ever wonder what animals are thinking?
I don't like to brag, but I consider myself a pet psychic.
I can prove it.

Chowdah is thinking:
How come I'm the only one who has to wear goofy get-ups?
Chili is thinking:
Obviously, there has been a mix-up.
I asked to be an only child.
4. Sometimes a pet gets out and doesn't return for a few days. What do you think happens to them when they go on a walkabout?
NBC News
I wouldn't know.
We have a don't ask/don't tell policy in our family.

5. With cats and dogs being the most popular pets, what is the most exotic pet you have personal experience with (didn't have to be yours)?
There were no exotic pets in our family.
There were no exotic pets in our family.
We did have some goldfish for a little time.
Unfortunately, Sista
We also had a turtle named Myrtle that lived in a gorgeous natural habitat like this one.
She passed away under suspicious circumstances.
Ahem, Sista.
6. Please tell us something about your week so far.
Our poor little Chili had more surgery yesterday on another one of her cysts. The poor thing will be spending more time with her two least favorite accessories, the cone and the donut.
And I will be getting a second mortgage on the house.
Until next time...
