Wednesday Pet-ley

Hello, dear friends.  Long time, no write.  My next post will tell you all about where I've been.  I am well-rested but battling a Mother of a head cold.  Next time I'm going to wear a gas mask when I fly.

Today is all about National Pet Day and I am linking up with Terri for Wednesday Medley.  Stop over and find out who else is participating.

1.  Have you ever had a special pet in your life?
Will you tell us about it?

Mothers are not supposed to play favorites with their kids or their pets.  I'm going to break that rule and tell you that the best dog I ever owned is Gypsy, who is the fluff ball in the middle.  The other one in the picture, Jackhammer, our Yorkie, had more issues than Vogue.  He lived to the ripe old age of 17 and gave the term grumpy old man a whole new meaning.

The first time that I laid eyes on Gypsy, she was in a crate in front of Petco in The Woodlands, TX.  In those days, the Humane Society would display eligible pets for adoption on Saturdays.  My eyes locked with my sweet girl who at that time was a matted grey mess.

She was being fostered and I talked to the Mom.  She told me that she had been fostering for 15 years and had never come across a sweeter dog.  She was right.

We lost sweet Gypsy three months after we moved to Massachusetts and it broke my heart.

2.  Did you grow up with pets in your home?
What did it teach you?

Pet Health Network

I did.  My Mother was a huge dog lover.  My Dad - not so much. Our first dog was a black dachshund named Pretzel.

Pretzel taught me to be cautious when walking in our backyard.

3.  Do you ever wonder what animals are thinking?

I don't like to brag, but I consider myself a pet psychic.

I can prove it.

Chowdah is thinking:

How come I'm the only one who has to wear goofy get-ups?

Chili is thinking:

Obviously, there has been a mix-up.
I asked to be an only child.

4.  Sometimes a pet gets out and doesn't return for a few days.  What do you think happens to them when they go on a walkabout?

NBC News

I wouldn't know.
We have a don't ask/don't tell policy in our family.

5.  With cats and dogs being the most popular pets, what is the most exotic pet you have personal experience with (didn't have to be yours)?

There were no exotic pets in our family.

We did have some goldfish for a little time.
Unfortunately, Sista murdered fed them brownies which led them to meet their maker.

We also had a turtle named Myrtle that lived in a gorgeous natural habitat like this one.
She passed away under suspicious circumstances.
Ahem, Sista.

6.  Please tell us something about your week so far.

Our poor little Chili had more surgery yesterday on another one of her cysts.  The poor thing will be spending more time with her two least favorite accessories, the cone and the donut.

And I will be getting a second mortgage on the house.

Until next time...

My Favorite Things/Amazon Style

Hello, dear friends.  How is your week going?  We have been experiencing gorgeous weather here in Massachusetts the past couple of days.  The Pats are going to have a picture-perfect day for their parade today.

Today I am linking up with Tanya at The Other Side of the Road for Prime Purchases.   Bloggers get together to post a list all of their recent buys on Amazon. A few of my purchases are reorders of products that I have mentioned previously.

As a side note, I will be out-of-pocket for a little while.  No need to worry - I'm just off renewing my Supermodel Trophy Wife license.

The Mister gave me one of these knit hats equipped with earphones for Christmas.  I am amazed at the quality of the sound.

I love this self-tanner.
It is so natural looking and it doesn't streak or turn orange.
It also smells great.

No more dark knuckles and cuticles after using a self-tanner for me.
I now use this mitt.

There are very few products that are self-tanners and have SPF in them.  I've been using this one for a couple of years.

I replenished my supply of my favorite rich body cream.

This sunscreen for the face is so light and gives great protection.

These insoles make my walk bearable.
No more plantar fasciitis for moi.

Amazon

We've been going through bags of these pill pockets, thanks to Chili's "issues."

I haven't suffered from dry eye since I started taking a couple of these every morning.

My favorite foundation that offers sun protection as well as buildable coverage.

We have a Tempurpedic bed with a big, fat mattress.  We were told that the only sheets that would fit the bed had to be bought through Tempurpedic.  Not only were the sheets expensive, I didn't like the feel of them.  I took a chance and ordered these extra deep-pocket sheets.  They fit perfectly, they are very soft, and the set comes with four king pillowcases.  An added bonus:  they are reasonably priced.

The Mister gave me a new fancy-schmancy purse for Christmas.  It's fairly large and I had problems locating things in it. I ordered a medium sized purse organizer and it worked like a charm.
Now the Mister can't call my bag the Bermuda Triangle anymore!

I liked it so much that I ordered an extra large one for my new tote!

I recently got a new phone so I ordered this packet of screen savers.
The Mister put it on for me and raved about the quality.

I purchased the Audible of this book.
If you love spine-tingling thrillers, this book is for you.

I just started this one on Audible.

I'm reading and enjoying this novel a lot.

Until next time...

Valentine Gifts for Her

Hello, dear friends.  Did everyone have a good week?  I had a fairly good one - I had lunch with a friend that I hadn't seen in a while and met some girlfriends for dinner last night.

The part that wasn't so good is crazy Chili has somehow turned into a night owl on us.  She is just getting revved up as we are going to bed.  She is not quiet about it either.  She likes to walk under our kitchen chairs and move things around with her donut and cone.  It sounds like there is a bar fight going on all night long.  And it looks like one when I come downstairs in the morning.
The struggle is real, people.

The Vet recommends Melatonin and some "behavioral training" with a professional.  Let's just say I never mentioned that last part to the Mister.

Has anyone else gone through this?
Please comment with advice if you have some.

Today's post is directed towards all my male readers - all two of them.  Come on guys, you can move up to the front row - there's plenty of room.

I consider Valentine's Day the holiday that you can earn the most brownie points.  You are expected to give gifts on her birthday and Christmas.  But Valentine's Day is a wild card.

You don't want to end up in the doghouse like this poor guy.  Have you heard the expression happy wife - happy life?
Here are some suggestions for some gifts your wife may like.

Do I have your attention now, guys?
How about a beach bag with a note tucked away saying that you'll take her away for a beach weekend?

Mark & Graham

This one is on sale!

She would probably love a new bag for the Spring.

How about some accessories to bring up her laptop game?

I bet she would appreciate this chiller for her wine, especially if your Mom is visiting.

Or an easy-to-use corkscrew.

Or how about a glass that holds a whole bottle of wine?
One glass of wine is only 4 points!

My friend, Laurie absolutely loves the Ember cup that she got from her daughter for Christmas.

Maybe she is a tea drinker?
How about this new kettle and ...

Some specialty teas?

Does your lady hang out in the same ol' sweatshirts?
How about a new pretty one.

Amazon

Is she a "scarf" lady like moi?

Tuckernuck

Nordstrom

I can't wait to ditch my puffer coat for a poncho.
The good thing about ponchos is most of them are one size fits all.
Another thing... they hide a multitude of sins.

This makeup mirror has Bluetooth!

Does your lady lose her make up at the bottom of her purse?
How about a new makeup bag?
And better yet, enclose a Sephora gift card.

Maybe she needs a new travel makeup bag if you're taking her on a beach weekend.

She will be able to find all of her favorite channels at home as well as when she travels.

Amazon

I bet she would appreciate a compact printer so she can send pics to the computer-illiterate grandparents.

Amazon

Maybe she would like to talk to her kids away at college while making dinner like the old days.  Or she likes to use cooking videos on youtube.

Amazon

J Crew

Tory Burch

Kate Spade

Kate Spade

I know that jewelry is always appreciated in our house.

Amazon

I have both the Ugg robe and slippers, and they are both so comfortable.

Amazon

Has her terrycloth robe seen better days?

Amazon

The Mister gave me this Waterford ring dish for our first married Valentine's Day.  I still use it.

Amazon

Does your lady use a roller brush while drying her hair?  This is Revlon's new two-in-one, and it's getting good reviews.

Amazon

If she likes to read, give her this book.
She'll realize how good she's got it with you.

Until next time...
