The Friday Files

Hello, dear friends.  I am happy to report that this week's Four'easter was a bust around my neck of the woods.  I hope that you lucked out as well.

Tomorrow, the Mister and I have an appointment with the Global Entry office.  Knowing the Mister, I have a feeling a nice lunch will be involved.

It's finally Friday.  The Mister was away all week so it was a long one.  It was especially difficult for Chowdah and Chili who start looking out the window for him every evening.  The Mister is definitely the fun parent in our household.

The following house tours were published several years ago.  It just goes to show you that traditional decorating never goes out of style.

A Four'easter Hodgepodge

Hello, dear friends.  I feel like a sitting duck awaiting the arrival of an unwelcome guest, the Four'easter.  Don't you love when meteorologists make up pet names for storms?  No, neither do I.  In any case, the weather guys have been circling my area with a bright red pen.  That's never a good sign.

I don't know about you, but it's been a slow week around here.  Even slower for Chowdah who spent a good part of it in time out.

     If it's Wednesday, it's time for Hodgepodge.        

1. On this first official day of spring tell us something (besides the weather) you're looking forward to in this season of the year.

I am looking forward to celebrating my Father's 100th birthday with friends and family in Austin, Texas.

2. When it comes to spring cleaning would you rather wash windows or wash baseboards? Clean out closets or clean out the garage? Dust ceiling fans or dust bookcases? Wipe down the patio furniture outside or wipe down the light fixtures inside? Any of these tasks recently completed?

I have a couple of things to catch up with in the kitchen before I can begin all of those chores.

3. Your favorite thing to make/eat that calls for cream cheese?

When I lived in The Woodlands, my buddy Martha served the most delicious dip at one of her fabulous parties.  It only requires five ingredients which is right up my alley. The main ingredient is Rothschild Raspberry Salsa.  I've been making it for about 20 years now, and always receive rave reviews.

It's a rarity when I get the compliments on my expertise in the kitchen.  You can find the recipe right here.

Sour cream?

Here's another favorite recipe of mine.  This mouth-watering Sausage dip only has three ingredients and is so yummy.  Just don't look at the calorie content.

* I put this on early this AM and just realized there is no sour cream in this recipe.  Oh well, it's delicious anyway.

Whipped cream?

This is another one of my favorite recipes, and it only needs two ingredients - a spoon and Reddi Whip.

I really should write a cookbook.

4. I read here a list of commonly mispronounced words. What is a word that gives you trouble when it comes to pronunciation?

I tend to give this word a few more syllables than is required.

Last Friday night, the eve of St. Patrick's Day, I received my results from my AncestryDNA testing.  

I knew I was Irish... but not this Irish!

I was excited because I just assumed that I would be eligible for discounted drinks on St. Patrick's Day due to my strong Irish lineage.

Sadly, I was mistaken.
