Hostess Gifts

I hope all is well in your world.  Our world was hit by some freezing temps yesterday.  Instead of sitting on the patio last night, we were sitting by the fire.

Happy Veterans' Day to all the brave men and women and their families!  Thank you for your service.

On Sunday, we headed down to Lucy's house to celebrate our favorite son-in-law's birthday.  We also brought an early Christmas present for Little Lucy.

There was some assembly required because we couldn't fit it in the car.  Before coming, the Mister had souped up the car with a flashing light, vanity plate, and a horn that could wake up the neighbors within a 5-mile radius.

I gave her my list of the best excuses to get out of a speeding ticket.

This is the face of a satisfied customer.

We celebrated at one of our favorite hot spots, Muchacho.

We walked around for a bit so Miss Lucy could show off her pretty turkey dress and cute cowgirl boots.

'Tis the season for hostess gifts.  I put together this list of ideas for your viewing pleasure.  Most of the items are under $50.

I have no idea what the candle smells like, but I love the packaging.

I love paperwhites, but mine are always late bloomers, just like me.

We had a couple of these floating around our 'hood years ago.
And then there were none, and no one owned up to it.

If we are bringing a snack, I love a tray with handles.
It doesn't work so well with stew, though.

This looks like my kind of

Instead of gifting the host, why not bring a bribe treat for the kids?

A new take on decorating a gingerbread house!  A great way to keep the kiddos out of your hair.

    1. Katie, I walked into an antique shop and smelled the loveliest fragrance, light and not overpowering. It was the French tulip candle you highlighted in this post. I highly recommend it.

  2. I remember putting together the little tykes car for my two middle grandsons. Is it still a nightmare to assemble? We have a new grandson who is getting one this year for Christmas and I’m already dreading (stocking up on wine) the process.

  3. I thought you were going to tell us to fill some of the state platters with NUTS!! (This statement is subject to personal interpretation and not meant to “poke fun” at any one state in particular. Although I have one or two in mind.) Then again, I live in a town where one of the nicest and oldest neighborhoods is the “Fruit and Nut.” - the streets are named after local . . . fruits and nuts.

  4. I notice Miss Lucy’s flashing light is blue. That’s perfect; she can speed with impunity and pull over the other lead footed toddlers! 😂🚔 Jo H.

  6. Oh my goodness, the memories with the coupe car. Every kid had to have one. My boys would race up and down the sidewalk on theirs and just had the best time! Kudos to the grandparents for a "grand" early gift. Your little Lucy is precious. That dress and pink cowgirl boots...I can't even...
Wonderful array of hostess gift suggestions! If only I had a hostess to give to. Oh well. I might like some of those things for myself.

  7. Lucy looks precious sitting in her new car! Love the comment about the flashing blue light. Her dress and boots are so fun. Great hostess ideas. I always wait until the last minute and then I'm in a bind. Maybe this year I will get organized and buy them in advance. Melissa B

    1. Don't order those, you can't afford it and you'll be stuck with credit card payments for at least two years.

  11. That thing looks dangerous, a more fitting gift are those sorting and stacking sets that develop coordination.

  14. Miss Lucy is a solidified Texas Gal in her cowgirl boots and looks right at home in her fancy new wheels! Go big or go home, right Lucy?! I gave Sista's book Gobble as early Christmas gifts the first year it came out and they still pull it out for inspiration year after year because it's timeless. Gary Malin's Dogs is an awesome gift for anyone! I have it on the coffee table in our family room and it's the one book that everyone loves flipping through. It's one of my favorite books m that you have given me. Happy Weekend Katie KTG

  16. Katie! Lucy is just adorable!!! Love her cute cowgirl boots! Wonderful hostess gift ideas as always! The candle is by Seda France and my favorite fragrance is Japanese Quince. A very unique and lovely fragrance like no other. I’ve have been using the hand soap for the past 18 years. I also have the candle shown, also in Japanese Quince; however, I’m going to have try the Tulip fragrance as well! Marlena
