Reading, Watching, and Listening

I hope you had a great weekend.

We had a small dinner party for dear friends.

We had cocktails and crostinis on the patio.

Brie, roasted grapes & hot honey

Pumpkin hummus, mascarpone pecans, & cranberry

Roasted butternut, prosciutto caramelized onion jam and onion garlic herb cheese.

We feasted miso salmon with sweet corn and sage beurre blanc and gnocchi with trumpet mushrooms and asparagus for dinner.   For dessert, we feasted on pumpkin panna cotta and rockit apples.

Unfortunately, I didn't take pics of the entree and dessert because I was having so much fun enjoying our guests.

Here is a recap of what I have been reading, watching, and listening to lately.

This is not coming out until next year.  The story centered around the Brave, heroic nurses who served in the Vietnam War.  This is a powerful novel that ripped my heart out.  The Women is one more jewel in Kristin Hannah's crown.

I listened to this and enjoyed every minute of it.
For as many Kennedy books as I have read, I still hadn't heard many of the stories included in this book.

A solid thriller that moved quickly.

This started out strong but ended up like a sappy Hallmark movie.

I wanted to love it, but it never grabbed me.

Another one that I was just meh about.

This is a fictional story based on the Ted Bundy murders.  One of my favorite bookstagrammers was gaga over it.
This one fell flat for me.

After all these years, the sequel to The Firm is being released today.

A new mess.  A new mystery.  It's up to Molly the maid to uncover the truth, no matter how dirty, in this standalone novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Maid.

I'm looking forward to this one.

The 6:20 Man is back, dropped by his handlers into a small coastal town in Maine to solve the murder of a CIA agent who knew America's dirtiest secrets.

This is one of the Mister's favorite authors.

A page-turning family drama that explores the emotional consequences of loyalty, deception, and jealousy.

I love this author, and I downloaded it.

I am counting the minutes.

Naturally, I ordered the audible.

It comes out Nov. 7th.

A "quietly stunning" (Ocean Vuong) exploration of love and loss, the struggles and limitations of family life—and how we all must learn to live together and apart—from the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Hours.

I love family dramas.

They always make our family seem somewhat normal.

A woman in search of a new beginning is put to the test in ways she never imagined in an empowering and provocative page-turner by the author of Not That I Could Tell.

Rave reviews on Goodreads.

Jillian Cantor's The Fiction Writer follows a writer hired by a handsome billionaire to write about his family history with Daphne du Maurier and finds herself drawn into a tangled web of obsession, marital secrets, and stolen manuscripts.

Rebecca is on my GOAT list.

This had me at handsome billionaire.

I hope this one isn't hokey.

We love this show!

Usually, when a show is dubbed, it bugs me, but this one is well done.  This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

Has anyone watched this?
Can you explain the ending to me?

Another fast-paced thriller.

He makes a much better Doc Martin than he does as a detective.

A pretty good show.

Trailer

It never disappoints.

Entertaining season of RHONY.
Sai grates on my nerves.

This show desperately needs a revamp.

It started off slow but has picked up steam with Jon Hamm.

Loving this!

I will be taking a few days off to renew my Supermodel Trophy Wife license.

Great News!!!

Here are a couple of my favorites.

I use Extreme Recovery Cream as my night cream.  It targets dehydrated skin, and it is soooo rich.  When I put it on, I can almost hear my skin slurp it up.  And in the morning, my skin feels so soft and well-nourished.  And if you like a dewy makeup look like me, it makes a great canvas for makeup.

Although the Quench & Shine Restorative Mask has the word mask in it, you can use this little miracle in a jar as a conditioner.  After I shampoo my hair, I put it on, leave it on for about 5 minutes, and then rinse.

I dry my hair, and my old, coarse, frizzy hair is unbelievably soft and smooth.  I cannot believe the difference.

Another thing is this is a large jar, and you don't have to use a lot.
I kid you not; this is a game-changer.

  1. Definitely saving this! I haven't watched a Real Housewives in ages and then a few weeks ago caught part of one as I was doing laundry. Same old, same old, catty women behaving badly. I am done with it.
I am anxious to see Lessons in Chemistry!

  2. Can't wait for The Women! Love Kristin Hannah. Have you read The Kennedy Debutante by Kerri Maher? Fiction but I suspect very close to the real thing.

  4. I agree on Sai. I was interested in how different a personality Jenna is. I love seeing her apartment and closet. RHOC is non-watchable, as are most of them now.
As far as yummy dinners at your house goes - we'll be there on Friday at 5:30...

    2. Katie-m ! Okay just pulled out my Libby app and added most of the books. The Kristin Hannah book reminded me I lost my place in library line for Nightingale.
I had to detox from RH series. Mean girls. You got us hooked on the - we can -never remember the title .. the vicar and the detective! I LOVED the Remarkably Bright Creatures. I listened to the audible and triple checked the narrator behind Marcellus. No way!

  6. That new Kristin Hannah sounds wonderful; I love almost all of her books! I'm pretty sure I'd also enjoy the sequel to The Maid (though I do hope they give a good refresher on the characters since it's been a long while since I've read the first one!).

  12. I'm a little behind on reading your blog, but had to note that at the end of Reptile, I said "What?". There were too many unanswered questions and my husband's thoughts on what happened didn't help me!
