TBB Asks/Giving Thanks Edition

Hello, dear friends.  I hope that you had an enjoyable weekend.

Today I am linking up with The Blended Blog. My buddy, Andrea of the fabulous blog, Living On Cloud Nine writes the questions, and fellow bloggers answer them.

1. Have you ever kept a Gratitude Journal?
Yes or No?

Amazon
No, I have not.
I was going to lie and say yes so you would like me more, but unfortunately, I'm too lazy to keep up with it.

2. Hosting Thanksgiving at your house?
Yes or No?

We will be in Dallas with our girls and celebrating at one of my favorite places in the world.

3. Favorite Food from The Thanksgiving Meal?

My favorite Thanksgiving dish is the classic Southern Sweet Potato Casserole.

Hold the sweet potatoes please, I'll just have the topping.

4. What one thing in Nature are you most grateful for?

Visiting New England

The Fall colors always lift my spirits.

NBC Philadelphia

But then I think about what's on the horizon, and I find myself not so happy anymore.

5. Pumpkin Pie: Yes or No?

Although I love almost everything pumpkin, the pie is not my favorite.  I would much prefer one of these Brown Butter Pecan Pie Bars.
You can find the recipe here.

6. Traditional Cookbook: Yes or No?

belmarrahealth.com

What's a cookbook again?

Don't judge.
It's genetic.
My Mother owned one cookbook, and this was it.

7. Oven Baked or Deep-Fried Turkey?

I've only had fried turkey once, and it was when we lived in Texas.  I LOVED it!  This photo is so pretty, and the recipe features a Spicy Bourbon marinade.

8. Thanksgiving Leftovers: Yes or No?

If the leftovers include Ree Drummond's Leftover Thanksgiving Panini, I'm all in.

9. What is one household product you are most grateful for?

Amazon

This stuff works miracles.  It makes all our wood floors look shiny and new.

10. Are you most grateful for home-cooked meals or restaurant meals?

Why go out for hamburger when I can get steak at home?
For those of you who are new to my blog, my Mister is a former executive chef.

It's no wonder I can't lose weight!

Until next time...

  1. Spot on! With a cook like that, who needs fine dining out -- it's right at hand! I'm so grateful Rick likes to cook. And we do different things which is also nice -- no competition! Love your answers and must check out those butter bars. I'm not a pumpkin pie fan either (so I leave making that to Rick). Glad you can spend TG with your girls!

  3. The last answer got me. I have no clue how I would ever lose a pound with that around. My husband is a great griller and that is hard enough. I laughed out loud at your cookbook answer because I have a closet full, but I only really like to bake. Great answers!

  4. My sweet daughter is hosting the local family Thanksgiving, then we are going to Savannah to have Thanksgiving with the Grimm Family. We are renting a house at the beach with my bro and sis in law and we are looking forward to lots of eating, hugging and picture taking.

  7. Those brown butter pecan bars look amazing and way easier than making a pie. Wonder how they would be if I substituted gluten free flour?

    Happy November!

  9. I'm sure the food your husband cooks is delicious, but the presentation is so beautiful too. You must feel like you are at your favorite restaurant all the time!

I laugh so often thinking about your mr. eating out...how he must study, critique and shake his head about all aspects of “someone else’s” food!!!! Heehee

  13. That food and the presentation are simply divine. I would never cook another dish if my Hubby could/would do that. We will also be in Dallas for Thanksgiving but sharing the meal at our daughter's home. And, I will be taking sweet potato casserole with that wonderful topping. Have a great week.

  14. How fun to have your own gourmet chef and sweet potato casserole is definitely a favorite of mine. I host Thanksgiving every year since my sweet Mom passed away, and I make her fabulous dressing! Have a wonderful week!

  15. Well, my goodness, I knew you husband was quite the cook but somehow missed the fact that he was once a chef. Lordy be! I'm soooo jealous! Hey, once a chef, always a chef! Right?
I am going straight to check out that recipe and may have to add that to our Thanksgiving goodies list.

  21. Hi Katie!
Wow what I wouldn't give to have a husband as an executive chef! After 50 years of being married my husband still isn't sure how to make the coffee!! But he is a wonderful husband so I really shouldn't complain....(did I just type that!!) No just kidding...looks like we are both really blessed! Have a great Thanksgiving and I look forward to more great blogs!!! We really do have so much in common!
