On to a New Chapter with #2

Hello, dear friends.  I hope that you had a good weekend and enjoyed Mother's Day.  We spent Friday and Saturday in beautiful North Carolina watching our #2  close one chapter in her life at Duke and opening a new one in Atlanta.

Our #2 picked us up bright and early at the airport.  Shopping, of course, was first on our to do list.

Miss Daisy was delighted to be back to one of her favorite malls, Southpoint.  If you want to read about her last visit, you can find it here.

Let the retail negotiations begin...

Here's Miss Daisy doing her classic eye roll.

From the looks of things, #2 must have been convincing.

We met #2's beau, Sweet Nick, for lunch.  He is a pitcher on the Duke baseball team and had a game later in the day.  He will be graduating on Monday due to his schedule.

I love Cheesecake Factory's Skinny Menu.
That way, I can leave more room for dessert.

We asked this charming young lady to point us towards the best deals.

We texted this photo to our #1 with the caption "Grad present for #2!"
For some reason, she did not see the humor.

Graduation was that evening.
What is it about bagpipes that make me misty-eyed?

There's my girl!

Can you spell r-e-l-i-e-f?

Proud Mama!

The next day we had lunch close to the airport.  The food was fabulous, but the service was quirky.

Bonus!
Across the street from the restaurant, this darling neighborhood offers up their porches for the Art Walk.

I met Gretchen who is a native Bostonian.
Her pottery is beautiful.

Love this house!

I can't wait to visit my girl in her new home in Atlanta.
She told me that I have to give her at least a week.
We'll see.

A bittersweet moment at the airport.  I just asked the Mister how it felt to have our last one off the payroll.
This was his reaction.

A very pooped Miss Daisy.
It's hard to keep up with a whippersnapper like me.

Until next time...

Meanwhile... back at the ranch.
Our sitter always sends us photos when we're away.

  7. Congratulations! How wonderful that #2 is off to Atlanta on her own and finished with her degree. That shopping area looks wonderful and I love the art walk on the front porches too. I almost went to graduate school at Duke, and I'm secretly hoping to sway Grace in that direction. It's such a beautiful part of the country!

  14. Such a great accomplishment for daughter and parents...I had a wonderful time in Atlanta the two times I visited; once in January, it was 85 degrees and once in July, it felt like it was 120 degrees..still had fun. It doesn't matter the temperature because you will be visiting a loved one. Take Care.

  19. Bravo on a great accomplishment in life for daughter #2. I get a lump in my throat thinking of how all four of mine 'did their time' and went on to pursue careers of their choice (which isn't always easy in this economy). Looks like you all had a great weekend. The shopping made me jealous but smile!! You and your daughter are twins and both lovely. And you each have handsome guys!!

Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day, Katie!

  23. Congratulations all around! I hope your #2 loves Atlanta. New chapters seem a little bittersweet to me since something has to change or end to start anew. But that is life. Glad to see your Mother's Day was wonderful!

However, there's another question I really want answered, Sis, which was raised in a previous comment.

  28. Congratulations to your beautiful daughter, Katie. I hope she loves Atlanta. Both my daughters are there and they complain constantly about the weather. I on the other hand love the milder winters they have. xo Laura

This is such an exciting time in her life when everything is laid out in front of her. Your pride in her will be doubled many times over in the coming years. Congratulations!
