The Friday Files

Hello, dear friends.  Happy Friday!  Why do four-day weeks seem so much longer than five-day weeks?  I haven't been able to figure out what day of the week it is all week.

I saw this video on Facebook, and I hate to admit it, but it reminds me a little of myself at mealtimes.  I have tried to eat all the right things and avoid snacking between meals.  I never realized how hungry a person gets when there is no indulging between mealtimes.
It's no way to live.

Speaking of not eating between meals, my #2 introduced me to this Celestial Bengal Spice tea awhile ago.  It is the perfect remedy for my 2 PM sweet tooth craving.  I add a dash of honey, and it's almost as good as inhaling a package of Oreos!  OK, maybe not quite.

The week began with a great start by meeting my friend, Annie for lunch and shopping.  Talbots Outlet had a sale to end all sales.

Last weekend I saw a couple of movies...

Without a doubt, Hidden Figures is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It's got it all - inspiration, education, humor and acting at its finest.  It's the first movie that I have seen in awhile where the audience clapped at the end and stayed for the credits.

Patriots Day is a film that gives the audience a bird's eye view of the Boston Marathon bombing.  After watching the constant TV coverage at the time, I felt like I knew the story fairly well.  The movie gives so much more detail on the actual events that surrounded that heart-breaking day in American history.

I got a kick out of this article comparing sorority sisters' photo poses with Meerkats.
Did you ever watch the show, Meerkat Manor?
The girls and I loved it.

American Airlines is offering discount tickets.
There's only one hitch.

Great news!
The actors think so too!

NBC is resurrecting Will & Grace.  A limited 10 episodes will be written to update the fans on what this crazy group of friends is doing in 2017.
I can't wait.

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Jenn over at Coffee on the Porch With Me wrote a post about a recurring dream that she had.

I have the classic "falling" dream about once every few months.

To dream that you fall and are not frightened signifies that you will overcome your adversities with ease.

Good news for me.

There's another dream that I have been having for years.  Unfortunately, George is not in it.  It always involves my wallet/purse being stolen or lost.  I looked it up and here is what it said.

To dream that your wallet has been stolen indicates that someone may be trying to take advantage of you. Perhaps someone has "stolen" your heart away.

Could be bad news for the Mister.

Just finished this thriller and loved it.

I'm listening to The Kennedy Wives on my walks and in the car.
So far, so good.

Do you have a recurring dream?

Until next time...

  1. I love Bengel Spice too, but even better is Good Earth Spicy and Sweet Herbal Tea that I order from Keurig. I'm addicted to it :-)

  2. I seriously think you are the 4th blogger today who has noted the 4 day week seems so long! Yes to This is Us! I totally have not watched this week yet and can't wait to catch up tonight. I've seen enough reviews of Hidden Figures that I think I'm going to have to take my daughter to see it. Yesterday I was able to attend an MLK breakfast on our campus where Ruby Bridges spoke and it was so inspiring. Have a super weekend!

  3. Oh that meerkat/sorority photo...lol!! As for dreams...I dream I am climbing a ladder and I am very afraid of heights. I am going to have to watch This is Us On Demand. I have heard so many positive reviews.

  5. Well hi there, Katie Clooney! Thanks for the mention lovely lady. I laughed out loud (actually did, not just saying that I did but sat here with a normal face) at the raccoon. If that raccoon had its face in a box of Christmas chocolate that would have been me! Concerning those air fares, how many women do you know who could actually travel with just a hand bag?? Great post once again. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! -Jenn

  6. Well, as always, I love your Friday posts. I need to read the Kennedy Wives one yet.
I have two recurring dreams. The first is always about a cottage/house that sits on a incline above a lake. The road wraps down around the base of it and I KNOW it is my house. Every time I go there (in my dreams) I know I am coming home. It is not a house I have ever seen and I never get out of the car but I KNOW that I am supposed to have that house.

And...my second dream is about flying. I am flying (no plane involved thank you). Then, when I get too high I begin to get scared so in the dream I tell myself--this is a dream--think yourself 'down' (lower) and I do...sometimes when I fly I dream that I have this long gossamer filament attached. I need to go look that dream up, I guess. lol
    Have a great weekend-xo Diana

  7. Those Meerkats and cheerleaders, that's just too funny! We love This Is Us! Such a great show. A recurring dream, I actually have one about our home falling apart. The walls don't connect and you can see outside, the siding is coming off, the floor isn't level, the carpet is ripped... I wake up and have an overwhelming desire to remodel. :) (Our first home was a fixer upper but that was 25 years ago! We updated everything and then moved and that was over 15 years ago.)

  8. So proud to be able to say Katherine Johnson hails from West Virginia and graduated from West Virginia State University, just a few miles away! I have yet to see the movie, but know from all the feedback it will be great.
I have had recurring dreams in the past, and still dream, but typically not in recurring style. I quit looking them up. Now I make up my own stories. They all have happy endings.

  9. Love this post...I was nodding my head in agreement and with enthusiasm at each tidbit. Always looking for new books and yes, This Is Us in on my favorites list for television. I always have dreams of being on a plane that does loops and flies between buildings and under bridges. And I mean a 747!

Looking forward to more of your Friday posts.

  11. I've got the CC tea kettle, all I need is a box of Bengel Spice. It's on the shopping list! '-)
The meerkets photo is too funny! I'm sharing this one. It reminds me more of some camp photos I've seen.
Went to see Hidden Figures, but had to switch to a different movie. La La Land won out. Turned out to be a good choice. I loved it! Now I still need to see Hidden Figures.
No recurring dreams. In fact, I don't seem to dream much, or at least not any that I remember.

  12. I can't wait for Will and Grace! My recurring dream is that I'm back at college living in the dorm. I have fleeting thoughts about my husband and children certain that they will carry on without me just fine. Have a wonderful week! Enjoy your tea!!

  13. Love, love, loving the new banner! And glad to hear about the two movies -- both are on my list.

No current recurring dream -- long ago I used to have a "chase" one -- I was a kid. I still don't know what I was running from but it was on a shelf above the laundry and a white rabbit was involved. Too much Alice, maybe?
