NYC Take 1

Hello, dear friends.  Better late than never.  This post covers part of the weekend that the Mister and I spent in NYC during the second week of December.  We were so fortunate with the weather.  It was a balmy sixty degrees most of the time.

We took the Amtrak, sat in my beloved quiet car, arrived early afternoon, checked into the hotel, and immediately hit the streets.

The Mister did a little shopping for himself.
Glad we got that over with - now we can concentrate on moi.

Loved all the store windows.

Stopped into St. Patricks and lit a candle.  It looked so pretty all decked out for Christmas.

Nothing beats the smell of roasted chestnuts in the air.

The NYPD was a very visible presence on the streets everywhere.

Rockefeller Center tree in all its splendor.

Kathy Lee and Hoda's hangout during work hours.

Too bad that I left my professional skates and tiny skirt at home.

The Mister and I became engaged in NYC twenty-six years ago.  After saying yes, he brought me to the Rainbow Room for a surprise dinner party with Sista and friends.  Lucky I said yes - otherwise it would have been a very awkward dinner.

After a fierce day of shopping, we stopped at the rooftop bar at the Peninsula Hotel.  I couldn't believe that we could sit outside in the middle of December.

The Mister checking his messages and working on his tan via heat lamps.

We had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Trattoria Dell'Artewhich is located across the street from Carnegie Hall.

Insert Carnegie Hall joke here.

The dinner and service were outstanding, as always.

Although she wasn't there that night, Jennifer loves this restaurant as well.  Between you and me, I don't think the restaurant could handle the two of us at once.

Looks like the Mister found something he liked, besides me, that is.

After our fabulous dinner, the Mister and I strolled back to the hotel and enjoyed the city in all its splendor.

Stay tuned for NYC Take 2.

Until next time...

  12. Oh Katie, I'm so sorry we missed each other, as my husband and I were in NYC at about the same time. We were lucky enough to see Billy Joel at the Garden, and the next day to see Les Mis where I once again marveled at those who weren't weeping inconsolably into their scarves! What's wrong with those people? At the risk of sounding like a giant suck-up, meeting you is on my 2016 wish list. Stay well and keep us laughing.
