Happy Halloween Fail!

Happy Halloween, everybody!  Mom kind of forgot to get us costumes this year so she ran to Petco (or Crack-co, as we call it) yesterday afternoon.  I'm sure you are not surprised to hear that there wasn't much left and all the good get-ups were gone to all the cool kids.

Mom settled on two Eeyore costumes (insert eye roll).  She didn't seem to care that one was too small and the other was too big.  We'll let you figure out which is which.

Enough is enough, Mom!

Hope you get lots of treats and your Mom doesn't make you wear a dumb costume!

A Very Preppy Giveaway

Happy Tuesday, dear friends!  I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by this beautiful lady, Katherine MacLane, Cofounder of Club Preppy, a discount-flash site for all things preppy.  She believes that preppy is a classic and never goes out of style.  In her spare time, Katherine is a designer as well.

Club Preppy is the only discount-flash site of its kind.  It is the go-to place to find all of your preppy styles and brands at amazing prices.  If you sign up for the email on the site, you will be contacted about the sales first.

Katherine has appeared on Home and Family for an entire segment featuring the merchandise available on Club Preppy.  I watched that segment because I happened to watch Home and Family every day because I may have a teeny weeny crush on Mark Steines.  Katherine is in the Kirstie Kelly shirt and jeans.

Club Preppy has also been featured in Town & Country

So, here is the good news.  Katherine is offering a give away on Club Preppy of this darling Kirstie Kelly timeless 3/4 sleeve shirt that is available in 2 fits, 2 fabric finishes, and a variety of colors.  This is a definite staple in any woman's wardrobe.

The give away begins today at noon and ends on Thursday at noon.  All you have to do is visit Club Preppy and leave a comment detailing your favorite item.  For a couple of additional chances to win, you need to "like" Club Preppy and Preppy Empty Nester on Facebook.

As with all of the give aways on this site, I have not received any compensation from Club Preppy.

If you do not win the give away, Club Preppy is offering an extra 10% off if you click the discount tab on the left of  the screen on the site.

Good luck!

Witch Hunting

Good morning, dear friends.  I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend.  The Northeast was gifted with bright sunshine, which was a blessing after a week of rain.

The Mister asked me early in the week what I had in mind for the weekend.  I told him without a moment's hesitation, I wanted to head for witch country.  So, off to Salem we went.

Nathaniel Hawthorne, author of The Scarlet Letter, holds watch in the town square.

This charming hotel is named after Salem's infamous author.

No witches spotted in the lobby.

We did some shopping for cauldrons and magic spells.

And ended up bringing this guy home with us.  We call him Roger Chillingworth.

Lady Linda asked me if I wanted to have a reading done.  I told her no.  I was afraid she would tell me that we spent too much $ on the painting we just bought.

Evidently, I was not the only person that had the idea of going to America's scariest town a week before Halloween.

This lady had a whole new take on face painting.
I'll take 2 blisters and a bruise, please.

And one bloody arm.

One of her loyal subjects.

Lots of scary street tunes.

This guy definitely had his eye on me.  I told the Mister not to pick a fight with him.  He looked dangerous.

At last!  I found my witch!

It was time for our two and a half hour Foliage Cruise.  When we boarded, we realized that the boat was packed to full capacity.  I looked at the Mister and suggested we jump ship and find our way to the patio across the water and enjoy a glass of wine and a nice lunch.
At first I thought the Mister was going to dive in and swim.
I never saw him move so fast!

Later... shipmates!

We found the patio hiding in this restaurant.

The Mister was very happy with my suggestion.

Foliage is totally overrated.

When we arrived home, we did a little of this.  The Mister takes his ball throwing very seriously.

And a little of that.

Have a fabulous Monday!

Celebrity Kitchens

Hello, dear friends.  Didn't sleep too much last night due to the mother of a storm that arrived on the South Sho-wah.  We lived through a hurricane in Houston and it was not nearly as bad as this Nor'easter.  You know it's going to be a good day when you wake up to this little pretty in your driveway.  I can't complain though, because at least my Internet is working.  It would be a really long day if it wasn't.

Chowdah inspecting the damage.

No thanks, Mom, I can see fine from here.

Everyone who knows me can testify that I adore celebrities.  Real celebs that actually possess talent, not the Kartrashians.  Ask the Mister how cranky I get when my People magazine doesn't arrive on time. My fetish  has prompted me to begin a new series covering celebrity homes.  Awhile ago I did a post on kitchens and here is an updated post of some more celebrity cuisines.  Some of the celebs have moved since the photo was taken.  For instance, Ellen and Portia seem to move every six months.  The next few weeks will cover bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and whatever else I can find on line.

So clean and pretty.

Emma Stone

Cool and sleek, just like him.

Justin Timberlake

I'm surprised that her island isn't tatooed.

Lena Dunham

Love the warmth of this room.

Ellen and Portia

Looks like an NYC pad.

Hillary Swank

I don't care for her facelift, but adore her kitchen.

Meg Ryan

Speaking of facelifts...

Renee Zellweger

Seems to fit his commitment-phobic personality.

John Mayer

"Pub" inspired kitchen.  Bet it's going on the market soon, if it isn't already.

Lance Armstrong

Yup, looks like her.

SJP and Matthew Broderick

Not my favorite.

Cameron Diaz

This, by far, is my favorite kitchen.

Tom Brady and his gorgeous model wife, whatshername.

Where's the best part?
What's Patrick's kitchen without Patrick?

Patrick Dempsey

George... quit trying to sneak into my blog.
It's over!

Hope your weekend is star studded!
