The Globes

Good morning.  Hope y'all had a good weekend.  Mine was tres glamorous.  The Mister and I shopped for commodes, pedestal sinks, and lamp shades.  Who knew there were so many shapes and sizes and colors of toilets?

Last night was the highlight of the weekend.  The Golden Globes!!  I look forward to this grand event every year.  This tells you how chock full of excitement my life is...  I always dress for the occasion - old Christmas jammies, fuzzy socks, and glass of vino in hand.  I act as Command Central as my correspondents - Sista from Connecticut and Dude in Naples, FL report in on their opinions.

Love these two... and they did not disappoint.

Julianna Rancic
Sista loved this dress. Me - not so much.  Also, I thought it looked like she cut her own hair.

Kelly Osborne
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly.  You just broke off your engagement.  How do you expect to find a new beau with that hair?

Natalie Portman
Talented, beautiful, and great taste in dresses.

Kate Beckensale
I don't know if I've ever seen Kate in any movies, but I thought she was a stand-out last night.

Paula Patten
Mrs. Robin Thicke is a beautiful woman.  Would have liked the dress a little more if the side ruffle wasn't so gargantuan.

Jessica Chastain
Great actress - great dress - flawless skin.

Hayden Panettiere
Sista and I say No! No! No! to that severe hair do!

 Eva Longoria
LOVE this color on Eva.  I bet Tony will beg her back after seeing her in this number.

Julie Bowen
Eat a sandwich, Julie.  Not crazy about the dress.

Amy Adams
Similar dress... wins the award for best show of her "globes." Not my favorite.

Maria Menounos

Reminds me of Pepto Bismol - which is not one of my favorite products lately.  She still looks great though.

Michelle Dockery
So appropriate for Lady Mary.  Love it.

Naomi Watts
One of Dude's faves.

And now presenting some of the Grande Dames of Hollywood...

Diane Keaton
Just adore her.  Makes me want to run out and buy a man's suit.  Not so sure I could carry it off though.  Dude and I loved her rendition of "Make new friends..."

Helen Mirren
I hope I look this good when I get to be her age.
No wait.... I wish I looked that good NOW.

Meryl Streep
I am running to the closest Lens Crafters and ordering these specs pronto!!

And my favorite of the evening....

Kerry Washington
Pure elegance.

What gown stole your heart?

  1. Kerry's dress was my favorite too! She always looks spectacular! Michelle Dockery's a close second, especially now that Downton Abbey is back on.;)

  5. Fun post! I loved Cates dress the most...she was the picture of elegance and grace. Ditto Kerry W. I loved this post, we must have been channeling each other last night as we have similar posts and I watched it from 5pm on in my pjs...the best!

Loved Amy and Tina...they kept me laughing the entire night!

  6. So happy we watched it "together". Kate Blanchet hands down fav. Blue Jasmine is amazing if you haven't seen it and my cousin's son played her son in the movie.

  7. Katie,
so fun watching the globes with you, even if you didn't share the wine! Our tastes are pretty similar. Kerry W was my favorite also. She always looks so classic and elegant. Wouldn't it be fun to be best friends with Diane!

  8. Perfect call on the gowns and the need for a sandwich:). I hope I can look half a cool as Diane Keaton when I'm her age.

  9. Tina and Amy were flawless from their jokes all the way to their dresses. I hope they sign a lifetime contract to host The Golden Globes. Oh, let's just go ahead and crown them the queens of ALL award shows! I love the way Diane Keaton artfully covers up her neck and hands - the two areas that show age before anything else. Reminds me of my friend Ellie's mom's words of wisdom: Whatever you do to your face, do to your neck.

  10. Ugh…. definitely not a pepto person either. It's like poison!
Kerry Washington. I can't. She is flawless and perfection. You know her baby is going to be the next Gerber.
And the color of Amy Adam's dress? I'm told "I'm a wintah" so I kinda love it.
By far though, Diane Keaton wins for me.

And, Katie, you stole my heart!
